While I've never played anime songs in a band before, I'd like to give it a try. Bass player.

Also, I should be able to pick up tabs and write midi too. Refer to my adventures with Hatsune Miku if you want examples.

Hehe... whatever you guys do
1. Pick a captain - by default that must be dishwasher
2. List down the instrument players - don't forget vocals!
3. Dishwasher to recommend 2-3 songs for the players to practice. Give it at least 1 week for the players to absorb
4. Agree on a jam studio. Damansara? Ampang? Bangi?
5. GO!

That's tough really... I do have a senior that can play drums... problem is, he's... well.... not so good. Plus he's not into anime stuff... just that we've not played in a long while due to the absense of our lead guitarist.

As for training to become one, nothing beats having your own drum set and practise over and over... you can call in a drummer for initial instructions, but afterwards, skill is based on creativity and practise.

Cloud, if you're staying at where your avatar says you are, then I'm sure you can gain access to Prosound near the bangi tol plaza or (can't remember to jamming studio) near Warta.

One song I'm very interested in playing would be Ash Like Snow. Any takers? Need a female vocalist tho.

This section of the forums has a major lack of the female species IMO.

A good choice to start simple. I'm going to find the full version. So for bass, I'll decompose it, play it, and post it here.

BTW, this web page has the base melody (violin) of the song. You need to navigate through as that's what the web owner wants
http://www.freewebs.com/infinityex/

As for the voice though, I think the pitch is low enough that a guy could probably be able to sing it.

1. PROGRESS 1: Drum beat template completed using Hydrogen (Freeware Drum Beat Software). Guys, PM me your email address so that I can send
a) the mp3 export of the Hydrogen software
b) the Hydrogen file itself

The drum beat is not perfect, but should give us a good reference when practicing. The beat is about 160 beats per second.

2. I've managed to convince my ex-drummer (his name is Stone) to play with us - lives in south Cheras area. I'm from Kajang, close to Bangi.

3. I'm willing to forgo my bass playing status if there's someone better (I'd prefer playing though) - which leaves me with 1 position - the singer!

I don't think Stone and I are ready yet for a session. I myself have only completed the drum beat and not tabbed out the bass yet (yeah slowpoke here). I'd say give it a week or two from now.

Nevertheless, this should not prevent us from planning the place to play. Both of us are familiar with many studios in Bangi and Akarkarya at SS21, Damansara. If we want to choose a mid point, then I'd recommend finding a jam studio somewhere in USJ . Personally, I wouldn't want to play at Akarkarya (even though the place is high tech, the studio is small and acoustics is not even close to the ones in Bangi, and it's more expensive). Just that at least for the 1st go, it's probably a place that is easily accessible by all members.

BTW, anyone interested in getting a copy of the drum beat? PM me yer email.

I'd likely post a youtube of me playing bass on top of the drum beat (no web cam though, just static pic smile.gif ). By all means, post some produce if you have them...

Anyway, I'm kinda blank on proposing any other songs that we might wanna play. Truthfully, most anime theme songs are DIFFICULT, especially for the singer.

Can I has the /as peeps to propose some songs? Would like to target about 5 total.

Ok, slowpoke finally has the bass tabbed out for Ash Like Snow. Simple enough. So are we set for a a practice session?

Thalmes, if you can play Melt's bass then you've definitely surpassed my capabilities already smile.gif

Most familiar place is Bangi - two jamming studios that, one at Warta, the other near the sports complex shop houses close to the Bangi toll

What better thing to do on a holiday than to play Fluffy Fluffy Time!

Camera fixed, but the bassist still sucks...

For Don't Say Lazy, just by listening,

For Fuwa Fuwa Time, there's a 'tutorial' on Youtube for the front part. But for the rest, also by listening...

Haphazard playing... kinda like Yui... tongue.gif

My problem is I can't get my double finger plucking to synchronize as well as I want... had I play with just the thumb, it'll follow the beat better, but the bass sound is 'flattened'. I must get my finger plucking better

@Hermes: Good voice for Anime Songs. To get stamina, you need to jog... like 2-3km per day if you can.

@Riku: Which part of Cagayake Girls can you play with that 'orchestra' - guitar, keyboard or bass? I'm trying to get the bass...

To all, I'm not sure if the TS (Dish) is still in this idea, but Eccentric's in, I'm in, Hermes probably in, and Riku... I have to convince Stone to pick-up his drum, or we have to lurk for a new drummer.

BTW, we can still start with the easier music piece. I still agree with starting with Gundam 00 S1 2nd OP - Ash Like Snow. Anyone else?

We can do either, but I guess it helps if we know which song to play. Throughout this thread the following has been proposed
a) God Knows
b) Ash Like Snow
c) JOINT
d) Minami-ke S1 OP???
e) Melt (though that will break fingers)

Again, Ash Like Snow is a reasonable starting point. So go ahead and start posting yer youtubes of whatever instrument you can play for this song - in two flavors - with background music and without.

Wah Thalmes, I guess it's a different interpretation of the song... anyway here's my version

Played it at a higher octave.

@Eccentrical: Nice meting you. Didn't know that there's a sizable /AS in Semenyih-Kajang-Bangi-Putrajaya Area
