Paid 1k to CMY as downpayment for 1909. 5 mins later the bugger called me and tell me no more new stock, ask me display set want or not. I told him to go check with all the other branches on Monday. If dun have new set, he will return my $.

DEM KAO SIENZ..... sad.gif
*
I think u r the one who snapped up the last unit
I went to the Damansara Utama branch around 11 something
the staff checked the computer system and told me that still has 7 units left
I placed order and he called other branches to get the unit as his shop has no more stock
guess what? all the branches are out of stock!! even the display sets were all snapped up!! doh.gif

he'll check again with WKH on monday whether there'll be new stock coming in

Nope, not me. I went at about 8:30pm last night. If that is the case, fat chances for both of us liao... sad.gif
*
the staff told me there's one booking from penang
i thought it's u tongue.gif

now have to wait until monday to let him check with WKH
but very unlikely to have new stock coz this model is obsolete sad.gif
furthermore this is a one time promotion from the collaboration between WKH & CMY for the existing stocks
there's a story behind it according to CMY

I'm a new 1709 user (BTW I consider it to be a bad purchase as it doesn't support HDMI audio). I'm reasonably happy with my experience other than HDMI thing. However, I've got a question that's been bothering me. It's a 7.1 sound system but it doesn't support any HD audio source. If I'm correct, there is no other way to connect to a HD audio source besides through HDMI. So help me out here with this question - what's the point of providing a 7.1 sound system if the AVR can no way play it. Is it to play 5.1/2.0 sound sources in 7.1 speaker systems in 7 channel stereo or something like that. Or am I missing some big picture in here? I'm hoping some Denon lover out there knows enough to clarify this.
*
instead of being not able to play HD audio
u can use the 7-channels for bi-amping for 5.1

if not u have to search for BD player like Panny BD80 or Sony S550 that can output 7.1 analogue
which unfortunately these players are not available locally and u hav to get from oversea

it's very hard to get a balance avr
If u use ur amp more for music, get marantz
If u use ur amp more for movie, get denon

I was in the dilemma like u previously
in the end i got denon coz i use it more for movie

if the outlook is also ur main concern
get marantz instead coz it's outlook is better than denon

of coz as a denon user
I would say denon is more suitable for ur type of usage
coz my usage is more or less the same like u
denon's performance on musical is not poor as many ppl think anyway
it still sounds great to me blush.gif

my advise is go to audit these 2 avrs
see which one suits ur taste

That's because confidence level of china made products is not there
Too many bad apples causing this type of perception
No doubt there are many good quality products from China
And even Japan made products are not necessary good though
Just, general perception is there already

anyway, my concern between 2809 and 3310 is solely based on pricing
3310 China made same price/more expensive than 2809 Japan made?

Bear in mind that famous economic saying, "charge what the market will bear". You will find that the selling price of an item has very little relation to where it was made.
*
That's why consumer is always at the losing end
not able to share the max profit enjoyed by the business ppl
Made in China = Low labor cost = Low operating cost = Max profit sad.gif

anyway, i wonder why they still split the production line's location between high end model and mid-low end model to Japan and China
Isn't that if high end model were to be manufactured in China will save more cost? hmm.gif

I think you got the point la!
For those who are new entry of HT like me, we cannot determine la which sound's better even compare between 19xx and 23xx...
We wont go wrong as long as we choose DENON.........
*
that's not quite a fair statement
it still depends on ur usage and ur ear preference

I owned a yamaha before
and i love its sound
my recent upgrade i got denon instead of yamaha is becoz i use it more on movies
the yamaha can't give me the 'oomph' i want as compare to denon
