anyone tried givenchy pi before? how is it? =X

If u r a fan of vanilla then u would like Pi. It's also extremely sweet and strong and more of a winter/autumm fragrance. Might work in hot weather if u apply sparingly. I'm not a fan of vanilla dominant fragrances so never really warmed up to Pi.

I tried Kouros last Fri and at the first sniff of it, I know that that is not the perfume for me. I like Live Jazz better
*
Kouros is very complex fragrance with many stages of development.

Live Jazz is good and i'm wearing it right now. But its a simple cologne and perfect for hot weather.

yeah it's complex perfume... i myself is finding it hard to describe it's scent. we'll i guess, each one sense of smell grows overtime. who know's maybe one day i could appreciate it aswell. but not now atleast for me. I'll settle for kenzo power for my next perfume purchase (unless I change my mind and buy live jazz instead  laugh.gif )
*
I get a lot of spice, incense, some woods and florals from Kouros. It is very much a complete opposite of many mens perfume as there is almost no citrus and no sweetness detectable throughput the whole pregression of Kouros. Some fragrances need to be worn a few times in order for us to really appreciate them. Some its just hate at first sniff.

If u looking to buy Kenzo Power, check out MJ for some deals as they have some discounts on their gift sets iirc. I spotted Live Jazz on sale for RM130-RM140 at Robinsons.

I am totally addicted into Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Nil ( http://www.nstperfume.com/2005/02/22/herme...agrance-review/ ) for the past few months. The scent is really green and light but lasting for office wear.

Got myself a sample of Prada Amber Pour Homme some time ago from PRADA KLCC. The smell is kinda soapy but overall I like it. This shall be on my list for upcoming Christmas 2009  tongue.gif
*
Un Jadin Sur Le Nil was rather meh for me. Smells like a watered down Terre D'Hermes and totally not worth the RM250 price tag. Mousson and Méditerranée are much better. The opinion about Nil on NST blog is just an opinion of one person so doesn't really hold much weight in my book. I prefer reading the reviews of many because in that way u can assess for yourself the good and bad of each frag. Most of the blogs get free bottles/samples to review a fragrance. So that's y the positive reviews most of the time.

I've got a bottle of Prada Amber Pour Homme and i agree it's a well made scent. It's is very long lasting too with very good sillage. However, some may find Prada Amber a bit too feminine for their tastes. The house of Prada does make very good frags. The new Prada Infusion d'Homme is even soapier than Prada Amber.

@Johannbeckham, using 2 perfumes at once is called layering. I personally am not in favour of layering as it can be expensive. However many do layer their perfumes in order to get a more unique smell and experience. When layering u don't spray cologne A on top of cologne B as cologne B might be stronger and thus drown out the smell of cologne A. Instead spray the two (or three) colognes side by side and not allow the two liquids to mix. As the smell from both colognes permeates, they will mix automatically and that is where u get your layering. There are other rules to layering I think but as I am not too fond of layering i am not too sure. Do a search and i am sure u will be able to find a few good guides to layering properly. The result of layering is often subjective to say the least.

Just tried Kenzo Power and it smells good...Floral-ish to me..
*
It's the florals that make Kenzo Power unique. If u like Power i suggest u try Dior Homme as both are male florals and created by the same perfumer. I prefer Dior Homme over Power though.

may i know why you prefer Dior Homme than Kenzo Power?
*
Dior Homme has more depth compared to Kenzo Power. Although take nothing away from Power as it is still an enjoyable frag to wear and enjoy. Dior Homme also has very good life on skin. The top notes smell strongly of iris but the dry down has a very enjoyable leather+chocolate scent. To some inexperience noses, Dior Homme may smell feminine and muted. But all you have to do is wait for the scent to progress and you will be rewarded. A truly complex scent.

Just to share something...don't be fooled by the topnotes of a fragrance. When i say top notes i mean the smell you get for the 1st 30mins to an hour after spraying either on skin or paper strips. Top notes are mainly there to attract the customer into buying the perfume. One big mistake is making a decision to buy a perfume solely on how the perfume smells for the 1st 30 mins on paper. I have been disappointed a few times when i made buys based on the top notes.

A well designed perfume has many faces sometimes. What the perfume smells like maybe totally different 3 hrs later. If u only like the top notes and not the basenotes it is going to be a big waste of money for you. Actually the main part of a perfume is the basenotes because that part lasts the longest and often described as the soul of the fragrance.

The next time you decide to buy a perfume, spray it on your arm/wrist/back of hand and wait 3-4 hrs before deciding whether or not to buy it. This way saves you money as you may not like how a perfume smells 3-4 hrs later. If u think 3-4 hrs is too much time to wait then go ahead and buy the perfume based how it smells like after 30mins. Just don't complain when u discover that the RM200-RM300 u just spent is a complete waste of money.

As the saying goes for people, "Never judge a book by its cover"

For perfumes, "Never judge a perfume based on the top notes"

Dior Homme owner here as well
yup love Dior Homme  thumbup.gif got it when it 1st launch
totally agreed wat jonny said, it's complex n unique...love it
i use it mostly on night time

day time im using Diesel Fuel for life, got it cheap from my fren and smell nice too biggrin.gif
*
The Dior Homme sprayer does frustrate me sometimes. It's so precise that it needs a perfect amount of pressure to spray properly. Press too softly and I end up with a stream of perfume dripping down my neck. I've worn Dior Homme both in day and night and i find it versatile enough for either.

Diesel Fuel For Life smells too young for me. It will suit someone in high school or college.

There are literally hundreds of options for you to choose from. So i'll just throw in some random suggestions...go try Armani Code, YSL M7, Dior Homme, Must de Cartier Essence, Thierry Mugler A*Men and F Pour Homme Black by Salvatore Ferragamo.

versace eau fraiche, F by Salvatore Ferragamo

Versace Eau Fraiche is a good option and IMHO better than F Pour Homme. I'm quite curious why I bought F pour homme. The 1st few times it smelled nice but after a while it got really boring.

Hi jonny4, what's ur take on paco rabbane's 1 million? Have u tried it? I tested it last week & i think it last's long & smell good. Can even smell it after bathing...
*
I've only tried it once on my skin and I do agree that it does last a long time. But I find 1Million to be quite average la and to me it smells similar a lot of other fragrances out there. But i'm not a big fan of sweet smelling perfumes so u can understand la. Btw, 1Million was a bestseller in Europe last year. I'm just not sure how 1Million would fare when worn in hot and humid Malaysia.

jonny4 how aout ysl l'homme?
is is good?
im using it now.
just want to know ur opinion about it

I love YSl L'Homme man ! It was my first fragrance fr YSL.

Not the most masculine of perfumes but is really versatile. Actually my gf sometimes wears L'Homme too. L'Homme is overall a sweet floral fragrance with white musk in the dry down. It is not as floral dominant as Dior Homme or Kenzo Power. Sillage and longevity of L'Homme is rather average. Another version of L'Homme called La Nuit De L'Homme is in stores. It is a richer slightly longer lasting version of L'Homme. Same price i think. But i'm not a fan of La Nuit.

just got my F By Ferragamo Pour Homme Black <3
*
It's good isn't it ? F Black is one of the better "black" fragrances in the market. However, I can't wear it unfortunately as I get headaches as soon as the smell reaches my nose.

Did u get the one in a gift set ? I've seen a few F Black giftsets that seemed quite good value for money.

Btw, Sorry i didn't see your earlier request for perfume suggestions (the post after my suggestion of Envy). If i had seen that earlier I would have given u a few. pm me if u still want suggestions.

I bought the regular F Pour Homme for the same price including the shower gel.

I am ready to sell my F Pour Homme. Anyone interested ?

Seriously ? Euphoria Intense is sweet all the way and cigarettes are bitter and smoky...how would Euphoria Intense compliment a smoker ?

Among the best fragrances for smokers are Dunhill Edition, D&G Pour Homme and Versace The Dreamer.

btw, I am a smoker and I own a bottle of Euphoria Intense.

Both Buerberry London for Men and Brit for Men are quite good. But they lack in longevity though. Both can last around 6 hrs or so give or take. London has a distinct rum like smell while Brit has a nice vanilla smell. Burberry Touch for Men is alright too, but u got to like floral dominant perfumes to like Touch.

Personally I would stay away from Burberry Weekend and Summer. Both are rather boring and short lasting and not worth the price. Burberry For Men is rather average but can last quite long and is the longest lasting Burberry IMO. The new Burberry The Beat for Men is too peppery for me and makes me sneeze a lot LOL. So it's basically up to your taste and preference. If u really do decide to get a Burberry perfume make sure u keep a look out for their gift sets because they usually come with add ons like shower gels and deodorant sticks.
