Please bring it to the vets ASAP before it is too late. It can be an abscess aka pus collection or tumour, they can't survive long if it's a abscess due to their small body cos the infection will spread very fast to the whole body. If it's a tumour, something need to be done. You can bring to Hands and Paws (Dr Jenny) or the one in Taman Segar Cheras (Dr Lum). The contacts can be found in the vets list in Pets Wonderland. Please take action fast to have a better chance of survival for the hamster.

I wonder why both male hamsters can mate and gave birth to 6 pups. Are you sure they are both male? You better separate them into different cages ASAP before they mate and give birth again, since you already have limited resources to get food for them, not to say other things. You can option to give them seeds or nuts instead of raisin and biscuit. You can also give them fresh veges and fruits which I think you can easily get it. Also you can feed them egg white (hard boiled) or meal worms (can get from fish shop) as protein. There's so many food you can provide other than those you are feeding which is not good for their health. Read up from the first page in this thread to have more info on what can be given as food and what can not.

Is not easy to estimate the size from the picture. Like our TimTim also very small size and tiny for us cos no matter how we pump him, he is not putting on weight. He got not so good gene and no healthy food since young or growing period. As long as she is healthy and active, she'll be fine I think.

FYI, we don't call hamster's babies as puppy cos puppy is refer to dog's baby. Hamster's baby is called pups. Anyway, syrian are solitary which mean they can only live alone and do not need partner or friend. They'll always fight no matter what relationship they are.

You got a long hair syrian. No advisable to trim their hair as they will not stay put for you to cut. You might cut something else if you're not focus.

Only cut when there something is stucked in their hair or tight knots and you can't remove it.

If you are really over pampered your hamsters with food, they won't be greedy with food till they behave like that. You should see Nezumitaro's hamsters, they are really 'over pampered' with good food. Do you ever seen a hamster who do not hide food in their cheek pouch? YES, her hamsters are those hamsters over pampered with food since young or when borne until they don't even need to hide food in their cheek pouch or even hiding place. I know that very well cos 2 of my babies are from her and I'm just can't understand why hamsters by nature do not hide any food. Others owners can witness this as well. Guess your hamsters are just not tame yet, they might be showing some kind of defensive reaction towards strangers.

Another person who didn't do research and get conned here. What shown in your picture is definitely a sable banded syrian and its under age, estimated less than 1 month old, max is 3 weeks old only. It run away when catch and jump from hand cos its not tame at all and it is so scared of human touch. They can be place together cos the pet shop do so, it doesn't mean they can. You didn't see they fight and bite each other doesn't mean that they won't, how many hours you have been staying there and look at them? Do you ever know how many have died due to fighting especially between the bigger ones and the smaller ones. They haven't start to fight because they are still very small and do you think they can fight the bigger ones? They will start fighting when they reach 3 months old. FYI, there's no such thing as British hamsters in this world! Only people who do not know anything will be fooled by the petshop. The pet shop can be black listed as they did the wrong thing yet give wrong infos just to make profit.

Would it be grooming rather than scratching? Pine bedding don't cause them allergy reactions but respiratory problem after long term used. Could you maybe take a photo to show us and we will tell you whether your hamster is scratching or grooming themselves. It's way too different from this two actions. I wonder how much you need to spend on that expensive toilet rolls bedding as they are good to make the toilet paper into small small pieces and it will be wet and dirty after few days, that may cost you even more if you only use that as bedding. Some of us only give toilet papers for them to make they nest but no bedding.

It is not due to food poisoning. It is a murder without conscious case. Hamster can't eat chocolate, it's poison to them, just like dogs. Don't you know that? You kill your hamster by feeding the wrong food yet you blame the food. If you do care about your hamsters, you should have done your study and reading and give them best care you can. I hope you'll learn from this incident and also the rest of the people who are behave the same.

Long time didn't post or reply here. Just a update regarding my hamsters at home. Finally decided to breed the 2 tamest and chubby hamsters recently and project started last night. They mated and hopefully success and their offspring can live on after they have gone to a better place.

Mating pairs:

Male: JackJack - Cinnamon banded
Female : Pillow - Sable banded

JackJack is our first Syrian hamster bought from PetShack where Pillow is the long waited Fatsoso from Nezumitaro. After consulted the expert for the tips of correct breeding skills and fantastic skills on bringing up the pups, we decided breeding them, the most chubbiest among the males and the females, they are also the tamest.

We are also plan to look for good homes for their pups. Anyone who are interested, please PM me with your details and short intro about yourself, we'll decide whether you are the good home for the precious. Hope Nezu will be joining us for the project.

We are not discriminate PLU here but the way you said is like PLU is so lack of gray matter in between their ears and lazy to do research, but let me assure you, some PLU we know are so responsible and good cos they are doing their research and taking care of their pets so well. I think you must rephrase your sentence la, don't make all PLU indirectly like you, the might not like it ler.... I always got my dog kibbles from Pet Shack, different brands to try out, the boss will always recommend me the good ones. Maybe you can try ask from there?

About the mealworms and feeding thingy, its call gut loading. We always buy mealworms and feed the mealworms with fresh veges 2 days before we wanna feed to hammies. Let them eat good food and pass out the bad waste from their body first before feeding to hammies. You can try to feed white tofu for protein as well. Hope it's help.

Yeah.... Too happy with Vitakraft high premium products. I put the balance prestige aside once I got my Vitakraft HP for my babies. Now the balance prestige is my mealies food. I wonder what am I going to do with the new packet cos I still have 1 new packet on standby but I think we totally switched to Vitakraft HP rather than Prestige. Can feed the whole new packet to my mealies....

This 2 days is the most exciting days for us as this is the expecting time for Pillow and Puffie if they are confirm pregnant. They are too chubby before this, so it's difficult or not different even they are carrying pups in their body. But what we saw in them is they put on some weight and get a bit rounder. Too excited
