when we talk about accounting.
only two colleges : either TARC or Sunway College.
That's what i heard of, anyway, just do some research in the internet. Ask someone from TARC and sunway.

Go Sunway for ACCA. if u're looking for an accounting degree, go Monash or Sunway. she'll be happy, and u won't regret.

FYI, I am Inti Accounting Graduate. I am currently studying ACCA on part time basis.

I just hate the fact that I pay so much for my Degree course (Inti) & I still need to study ACCA in order to get qualified !
And working & studying at the same time, is tough ! Way too tough for me...

So, if u do not plan to work outside Malaysia. A public universities / MMU Accounting Degree will lead u to become MIA member & a qualified Accountant.

FYI, a few of seniors have give up their ACCA / CIMA title & just retain their MIA membership since it is much cheaper & certainly they don't plan to go for oversea in the forseeable future.

go sunway take CAT and ACCA

Another thing about ACCA, is NOT EASY to PASS especially in the Professional Stage...

If u are a good & hardworking student, go for it !

If otherwise, MMU / Public Universities Accounting Degree will still Lead to the path of Qualified Accountant.

No point choosing a good qualification if u know that u can't get it !

well, that means sacrificing prestige just for the sake of a paper... might as well, buy it.

Well, someone please state the route for accountancy as I have totally no knowledge in this field..

So since so many people recommend Sunway, I'm guessing it's where I should go. I'll take CAT and later ACCA there.

1) Accounting
2) Accounting and Finance

More to study for the 2nd course?

Accounting is more focus on accounting .
While for accounting and finance,
some are double major yet some aren't.
There are many IPTS providing the 2nd choice,
such as Segi, Sunway, Taylor, Help, KDU, UCSI..etc.
But whether it is a double major, you have to inquire the counselor.
Some can let you choose either to major on accounting or finance.

Nottingham has a triple major degree : Finance, Account and Management.

If you look for better environment and facilities, then go for Sunway.
You may don't like the way of teaching of Sunway lecturer but it does provide a better environment for you as well a BETTER CHARGE of fees. lolz.

for your info, to be entitle for Chartered ACCOUNTANT u need to be a member of MIA . Not ACCA, ACCA is for certified public accountant....hope u get the idea,

still the professional body is not compulsary for accounting...

I'm in the accounting line. I organised several talks, conferences and even a Career Day and Accounting Week at Monash University Malaysia. I was part of the Monash University Accounting club committee.

Personally I'd recommend:

01. Monash University (duh )
02. UTAR
03. Sunway University College
04. Metropolitan College
05. Taylors University College

01. Monash is reknown for its business courses, even in Australia. UniMelb may be ranked higher, but in the business line, Monash has a better rating, somehow. Perhaps its because the courses are tougher. UniMelb surpasses Monash in many many other aspects though, but not in commerce studies/accountancy in your case.

02. UTAR and SYUC are the only TWO private colleges in Malaysia to be awarded the platinum status by ACCA if i recall correctly. I know, because I spoke to the speaker myself. Any graduate from accounting courses here, will be grabbed by ACCA. Not bad, if you feel like being headhunted

Anyway, UTAR has always been famous for its accounting courses while SYUC, for its CAT --> ACCA programme.

04. Metropolitan is one of the only colleges to focus on offering business courses only. They also have a very good twinning partner, RMIT, but the partnership may have been discontinued.

05. Taylors Business School. Used to have a great reputation, due to a good twinning partner, University of Technology Sydney. Now they twin with UniSA, but doing it locally is prestegious enough IMHO The Taylors Business School is quite highly ranked locally as well, in the business world.
