Hi

I have to take a Laptop along with its accessories and a medium size speaker with sub woofer plus some kitchen electronics appliances like rice cooker, toaster and mixer (all for personal use, but some of them are new) for a friend in Indonesia. I am travelling there to Surabaya airport.
My concern is, are all these stuff allowed in the airport? especially the speaker. I seriously don't want to run into trouble with Indonesian costumes.
Do I have to pay fines or taxes? I am ok with that as long as they don't permanently cease these stuff.

If anyone of you is from Surabaya or has traveled there before and has experience on these things please advice me what to do?

Thanks. smile.gif

Does Surabaya airport also hv departure taxes like Soekarno-Hatta Airport ? Soekarno-Hatta Airport charges departure taxes of Rp 150,000 for international flights and Rp 40,000 (US$4) for domestic flights

Anyone been there can share ?

bought a flight ticket to surabaya on 14th january next year,

was actually planning to go to jogja, but heard about mount bromo so thought maybe it would be great to go there.

so the plan is for surabaya to be a transit point from-to kl, but will visit mt bromo on the last day in indonesia,

havent did thorough research yet, but just need to ask few things first.

my flight will reach surabaya about 1am in the morning, will there be buses to jogja at that hour?
how to get to the nearest bus station?
how long is the travel from surabaya-jogja?

about mt bromo, is there any fee to hike/climb it? accessible throughout the day?

hi friends. I am a local resident of Surabaya. I'll try to answer some of your questions.

I'll answer the second question first. the distance from the juanda airport to the bus station (purabaya/bungurasih) is quite far. if you come in the morning until evening. You can take the airport bus (DAMRI) to get to the bus station. but since you arrived at 1 am. you can't take the airport bus. because the airport bus operating hours are from 6:00 am until 10:00 pm. maybe if you want to go direct to the bus station at 1 am you can use the taxi.

for the first question, surabaya jogja bus operates 24 hours a day and departs once in an hour. and the bus departs from bus station bungurasih. The best buses for this route is the "EKA" that depart from the line number one of bungurasih bus station. eka bus fare from Surabaya to Jogja approximately 70k rupiah. You just go up. and pay the fare on the bus. You don't have to buy tickets in advance. Another option is to use the train. from the juanda Airport, take a taxi to the Gubeng railway station . There are several train options, but the most morning is sancaka which departs at 7 am from the Gubeng station. and the fare for the executive class is approximately 150k rupiah.

driving from Surabaya to Jogja will take approximately 7 hours.

sorry, I can't answer your question about Mount Bromo. because I have never been there and don't know clearly about Mount Bromo.

Thanks! that was such a relieve and real big help,

approximately, how much will be the cost for taxi from airport to bus station bungurasih?

so travel by bus, will be around 7-8hours journey too right?
how about train? i read on wiki it will take longer like 12-13 hours journey.

bungurasih bus station, is there any eateries around that open at that hour? cause i expect airport foods to be more expensive so maybe get some late supper in the bus station area instead.

surabaya jogja bus operates 24 hours, this goes the same to jogja to surabaya also right? just to be confirm,

1. Haha, Don't mention it. I'm glad to help you. biggrin.gif
2. The cost of taxi is approximately 50k until 60k rupiah.
3. yes of course. But if you take the "EKA" bus that i recommend you before. The bus will stop at a restaurant to provide meals that free of charge (the cost of the meal is included with the bus fare).
4. Nope, it won't be that long. Surabaya Jogja train is approximately take 5-6 hours.
5. (A) I'm not sure about it. Because I've never been to the bungurasih bus station after midnight.
(B) Unfortunately, your expectation is true. The cost of meal in the airport is 3 times more expensive than at the bus station. (Approximately)
6. yes it is. this is the schedule of the bus eka.
Depart From Surabaya.

You can take the magelang-destination bus to go to jogja. Because the bus that go to magelang is always pass through jogja.

Unfortunately, i don't have the schedule of bus departure from the jogja bus station(Giwangan). But i think it operates 24 hours too.

Important : I'm not an employee of the bus eka, or any part of them. But, If you decide to take the bus. I really recommend you to take the "EKA" bus. Because based on my experience for this route. no bus companies that provide a better service than eka. on the other bus, the distance between the bench is so tight and there is'nt meal service.

JUST FEEL FREE TO ASK. As far as I know the answer to your question. I'll try to answer it smile.gif .

I m planning to go to Mt Bromo in April this year. Will skip Surabaya and head to Bromo straight away once we disembark from our flight at 8.25am.

Any ideas how to take public transport from Juanda airport to Cemoro Lawang? Found a lot of contradicting information on the internet and is confused.

Please help!

Sukameda is a turtle beach, u might see turtle laying eggs at the night, and u can put small turtle back to ocean in the morning. But the road is quite bumpy and far away...

Hi. Anybody got good contact for agent to go to Bromo? Is it better to find the agent onsite or booked it online?

Btw which hotel recommended to stay near the Bromo area?
