It took 4 people 45 minutes to hem the damned thing. A customer to bring the jeans in and put it on. A cutter to pin it up, align both legs, chalk the new fold line, cut the hem. A seamstress to change the needle on the sewing machine, pick an appropriate thread, sew on scrap denim to test simiarity with original stitches, to sew it. Her son to help her thread the needle.

I think the fit is good. Uniqlo make good starter jeans imo, just bloody hard to fade!

I'm thinking of removing the lame patch of leather. It would make for a more minimalistic jeans. Is there any reason I shouldn't?

Ditch it. Unless you know someone who knows leather tooling, then you could have some unique personalized touches added to your jeans. wink.gif

guys, been lurking in this thread for awhile and having read abt the selvedge and raw denim posts, i believed i have learnt alot.

Just would like to share a place which i discovered three years back but went back there yesterday to see what they have got. This place is in Plaza Mont Kiara called Wondermomo. They do carry some selvedge jeans and raw jeans too. From browsing thru, i see some YMC, Yamane, Prada(no kidding), Evisu, Dr. Denim, Marc Jacob and lots of other brands that i don't remember. But sizes and design are limited. And yeah, lots of cheap mondays too. I tried on the YMC but too bad they were hanging very loose on me, their size 30" measures 33".
