Hello everyone, Honda City S spec RM84,980 OTR, E spec RM89,980 OTR. These are the official price. S spec rival is Vios G and E spec rival is Vios S. In fact Vios G is slightly more expensive than City S.

QUOTE(kevin23 @ Dec 18 2008, 10:34 AM) I just went to Honda SUbang Jaya showroom to take a peek at the car.For now, they only have the lower grade spec here which is the blue colour wan. Selling price around RM 85k ..Overall,its ok ok only lah..THe radio dash is really ugly..dont know why they decided to make it silver colour which looks cheap. Plastics all around look like the cheap hard plastics.Cant expect much for RM 90k Interior is spacious and driver position is good. Meter and dials, and the signal stick looks cheap.Proton and Perodua ones look nicer. So far no test drive avalable yet. If you book now, only can get the car in MArch cause batches for Jan and Feb all sold out. But i would rather pay slightly more to get a 2.0 Lancer. For RM 90k this Honda City is not worth it. mind you, 'slightly more' is RM33k more This post has been edited by irving: Dec 18 2008, 04:51 PM

Noticed a few more differences (which might have been noted previously). 1. Interior fabric for S-Spec and E-Spec (the middle-section is the same between both specs, but the side lining of the E-Spec is different.. smoother a bit). 2. The switches at the door side (to control the power windows), for S-Spec is black (same as upholstery), for E-Spec is silver Added on December 18, 2008, 4:57 pmNext question is... any SA providing discounts, perhaps? I'm seriously considering the E-Spec (eventho the extra goodies doesn't amount to RM5k..but I like the creature comfort), but the wait of 2 - 3 months. Oh boy This post has been edited by sysh: Dec 18 2008, 04:57 PM

yea just came bak from the showroom too. it looks way better in real life. u can see all the details, oh and the silver center panel, believe me, it looks way way better than in photos. ya, it has those fine 'metal' lines and accord has it too by the dashboard.
the one i saw in showroom is spec S, its already breath taking. i didnt wait for the test drive...too long queue. but on the way out, i saw it coming in. oh boy its really stunning!
overall its a car really has out-classed many, soon will be out-numbered others too. for the price at 85k and 90k, now latio too can cry.

I get to test drive at 9:30am and of course i am the first one to get to test the awesome car. The SA was such a good guy because this morning he even call me up to inform me don't forget to come test drive. But in the end i ask my friend to book for me, sorry for the SA who work at the showroom near by my office. I'm going for E spec, modulo kit and v-cool. To be honest, i rated this car 90% rather than 100%. Because the interior is way too normal, i expect more from HM.

Oh yeah, not to forget to mention.. I did manage to take it for a test drive. My short take on the City.
1. The paddle-shift was nice to use, but it's not imperative to have. I think it'll be useful for me when I wanna drop from 5 to 4 (to overtake). Either that, I'd rather let it be on "Auto". Didn't try the S (Sports) mode, my SA said if you engage to SA.. it limits the gear change from 1 to 3.
2. Pick-up was sufficient, felt responsive even with the 16" rims. I guess it's partly cos it was a 185 and not 205 that you find normally. Wasn't able to rev >5000 rpm (too many cars). Did it up to 4000 rpm and it was not-too-loud. It felt like the 2nd Gen Jazz. NVH was alright, no rain so couldn't check on the complaints from ppl bout how "zinc-link" the roof is.
3. Seats were comfortable. Leg room both front and rear was good. Comfortable and has ample support. Love the black interior. Door closes with a firm "thud", as with the previous City.
4. Boot size is huge, you could crawl inside there (or smuggle a person). No tray (optional) like the Vios, if you want it.. it's RM200.
5. Didn't really like S-Spec exhaust pipe, without the chrome finishing.. it looked a lil puny. A definite must to get the chrome finishing thinggie in the future if you consider that spec.
6. The tyres wrapping both specs are Goodyear. Can't remember for the S-Spec, but for the Goodyear it was the Excellence model. Dunno how good it is though. Threads looked okay though.
7. The fuel consumption meter on the hand looked quite misleading. If your right foot is a bit erratic, you can see the meter going up and down like an equaliser (which is quite annoying, and somewhat useless 'cos you can't really see what ur 'real' consumption is'
8. Surprisingly, the Lapis Blue is quite nice.. it has a nice contrast with the grey grille. For PMM, the contrast will be less since it is somewhat grey.

o ya, spec E for me and decided i want black color haha. agree, the interior plastic could have been better built and it really felt hollow when i knock on the door (from inside of course) and the dashboard too. funny i was expecting crap center console and better quality for dash, it turns out the opposite. but still acceptable for me haha.
oh, on the performance part, i read about the Shift Hold Control and the Suspension, they are really extra goods offered in city. man i felt its really worth it.

Just got back from the Old Klang Honda showroom - man were the SA's busy! No one even layan me! Anyways - the they only had a lapis blue and silver S spec in the showroom. Overall the car looks great, although a bit smallish for my liking. I was quite taken aback by the overtly plastic-ky interior! There is not one soft-touch piece of plastic in this car, and this is where Honda's cost cutting is evident. The door panels on the S version was one large piece of forged plastic, and is missing the silver lining in the higher-spec E version. God forbid, but I believe the Vios has better plastics... Even the dash molding is a large piece of hollow plastic. I can't really imagine the NVH to be to good, but can be fixed with some simple DIY soundproofing:) The audio controls are OK at best, and lack the tactile feel of the Civic. The seats are pretty good, with good thigh support and some decent legroom at the back. I will try to test drive it soon, and will post my honest opinion later:P

I do agree that there were a bit too much plastic to my liking. But it was within my expectation (judging from the photos). The Vios' interior on the other hand is decent, but rather spartan and dated. Something which turned me off a little. But I can't we can't really compare like with like (i.e. Civic) as the price differential is RM25k onwards. You pay for what you get. But in the end, it is a definitely step up from the previous model as the pronounced front is very eye-catching. A definite trump over the dugong Vios.

To get all the information, view nice photos, download nice wallpapers and brochure of new Honda City, just go to Honda Malaysia website at www.honda.com.my. I have downloaded 3 wallpapers of new City for my PC and one of them is a silver colour one with Modulo bodykit. Really stunning! The advanced audio console has brushed metal look like the higher end digital cameras. Classy!. Wonder whether it is metal or plastic. I am going to test drive the new City this Saturday (day after tomorrow). By the way, how is the pick up from stop? Is it powerful? You just have to press lightly on the accelerator to move the car? I read the article at www.autoworld.com.my that there has been at least 3,000 bookings for the new City and this list is growing by the minute. Honda has a winner this time to beat the hell out of dugong! Just imagine, 3,000 bookings received even before the car is launched. At RM84,980 for S spec, it is even cheaper than the old City VTEC which was priced at RM85,850. Furthermore, it has the most powerful engine in its class, even more powerful than certain 1.6 sedans. It also has many new features! Watch out T and N! Added on December 18, 2008, 6:02 pm2 more photos to be used as wallpapers for your PC. In my humble opinion, the best comparison is against the previous generation City rather than comparing to diff class Civic. We pay what we get, in the case, we cant compare civic against accord or even Mazda 6. Its a different beast altogether. Furthermore, yes, we are paying 90K a high price, thus we expect more. But come think of it, its only an entry level model which suppose to be priced just like a Gen2 (1.6) or lower? Its our country automotive policy that jacked up the price, btw. Vios is also a good comparison as consider from same segment. HOWEVER, do not only lament on the -ve but look also at the +ve of a CIty against Vios. I am sure there is a balanced or slightly sided to 1 in comparison. As long majority aspect are step forward is better than a step backward..
