had a chat with doxa customer service. for warranty claim, will have to send it back to switzerland, and the shipping charges for them to return it will be borne by them. for general service, will have to send it to switzerland, shipping charges to get it back borne by the customer. hmm.... hmm..... hmm.....

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Apr 15 2010, 06:43 PM) why do U need it on a Sapphire crystal? that ad is silly... won't the AR coating on the outside of the crystal get damaged in the long run if we don't have the protector?Added on April 15, 2010, 6:46 pm expensive not worth the money... Summit collection all QUARTZ.. retail at ~RM$3K, U may get 20-25% off. Added on April 15, 2010, 6:49 pm only online, direct thru CW... will find time to post pics and reviews. Added on April 15, 2010, 6:50 pm wow... increase budget! now eyeing on Omega!!! get it soon.. the increase would come sooner or later.. i've been eyeing on a seamaster since high school, all because of james bond. budget increased, but fund still insufficient. i'm torn between doxa n omega. ok here's the situation: Doxa - rm5.6k - only option is to buy online - any warranty claim & servicing/regulating the first 2 years will have to be done in switzerland. must send the watch there - limited production - have never seen nor tried the actual watch - ETA-2824-2 grade? elabore? - 42.7mm slightly smaller than Sinn U1. i can't wear U1 as it is too big for my wrist - read some complaints from doxa owners on WUS forum Omega - rm12k. insufficient fund (like red alert). will have to be patient and keep on saving - can buy from local AD - warranty claim & servicing can be done locally - availability is not a problem. just that the price goes up and up and up - co-axial technology, chronometer grade movement - size 42mm, perfect for my wrist - nothing but perfect reviews so..... how lah? QUOTE(ck77 @ Apr 15 2010, 08:47 PM) A great explanation by patryn as above. they only export. local customers will have to buy from local AD. i guess they have an agreement with local ADhttp://www.collectorstime.com/omega.php#SeaMaster Malaysia based grey dealer. I have not deal with them though. |

QUOTE(Jason @ Apr 15 2010, 11:57 PM) omega. but more importantly..which watch speaks to you? put them on your wrist and find out. to me, the bestest James Bond has got to be Sean Connery! Brosnan is suave, but Craig is just plain masculine.though i prefer the classic SMP w/skeleton hands over the PO.. Daniel Craig still makes me cringe.. Pierce Brosnan i prefer the previous SMP, with sword hands. IF, the sword hands are on the PO, fuiyoh..... eventually, I want to own both. Doxa AND Omega both will be in my collection eventually. just that, at the moment, which one should i get first? Doxa is kind of a gamble. So far, i really like what i see in the pictures. QUOTE(patryn33 @ Apr 16 2010, 08:20 AM) generally its Elaboré grade for Doxa, Mido, Guinand.. eps watches that cost US$1K. under US$1K generally its Standard like my CW. true, if too afraid of scratches, might as well don't wear them. apart from how well elabore movements are regulated, correct me if i'm wrong, i thought they decorate it and put extra jewels to make it last longer?depending on brands some do a better job at regulating the movement. anyway standard and Elabore diff is how well its regulated, I think I can get a local watch maker to get it done nicely.. limited cash.. only option is Doxa, unless u can find the cash to get the OMEGA b4 next increase else. its hard to compare... Omega is 2X the price of Doxa. have the money of course Omega. anyway both brands has a nice history. Doxa started back in 1889, Omega in 1848. AR coating damage can always sent in to get it coated. putting a plastic over it, it just dorky.. might as well don't wear and put it in a safe. Added on April 16, 2010, 8:22 am where did U get the info? can share? Added on April 16, 2010, 8:24 am U cannot say its like underwater phones... many of these phones can be stolen goods/export model only or those that "fell off a truck during shipping". its unlike watches. i sent an email to the collectorstime owner asking for a quotation on the PO. i told him where i'm from. he replied saying that they only export. |

QUOTE(nando @ Apr 16 2010, 08:59 AM) Since you already said you want both......and yet cant go out and get both..... anybody planning on robbing a bank? count me in! yeah i guess u r right. forums are where rants are posted, and no brands are perfect.get a Doxa first. it looks like you're hooked on it. Price is reasonable and i think it has its own admirers. Sure, you read about problems in forums but hey.....what do you expect? Forums are places to find complaints, dissatisfactions, etc. Every brand also got lemons. Read forums on the IWCs, Rolex and even the great Sinn....you'll find all kinds of horror stories, now and then.... But then, that's what warranties are for. If you've been reading problems about certain Doxa pieces, i am sure you would have read users' experience about how Doxa handle complaints and watches being returned for checking/repair. If users are generally satisfied, i think its safe... then how about the Omega? Well, save up..(since you're indicating you dont have the dough now...). If you prefer the sword handed Omega Sea master and really loves it, go for a pre-owned. Singapore and local ADs will have second hand....Dont go for the current arrow hands PO if you're not convinced with the design....(i am the other way round...i love the current POs..) .. yeah...price will always go up and the issue is always can your savings rate compensate increasing prices? i think you can, if you know how to manage your funds well.... |

QUOTE(ck77 @ Apr 16 2010, 02:40 PM) true, rolex used to be on bond's wrist, but omega has always been tied to bond character. why huh?Added on April 16, 2010, 7:26 pm QUOTE(nando @ Apr 16 2010, 07:23 PM) dont worry....a watch purchase from months of savings + drooling + sleepless night + recent pay rise is always the most meaningful one.....! i guess the saying "the hunt is always the best part" can't be truer than this. QUOTE(patryn33 @ Apr 16 2010, 07:34 PM) 1000T or 1200T orange face.Added on April 16, 2010, 7:43 pm QUOTE(nando @ Apr 16 2010, 07:31 PM) the power of modern day advertisement!! really? he said that in the movie? gotta watch it again. rome wasn't built in a day, rolex can't be bought on a month's paycheck.movie even got chick asking Craig..what watch is that? and he says OMEGA!! dont remember Connery, Moore, ever saying its a Rolex! (not entirely sure because i didnt watch the whole bond collection) but for me...the PO design and co-axial movement just captivates me......I've never bother to browse Rolex forums...its just way out of my league..hehehe check this out, comprehensive list of bond watches http://www.jamesbondwatches.com/the-list-eon-movies.htm This post has been edited by miaopurr: Apr 16 2010, 07:50 PM |
