@Pennywise,
How are U going to make the purchase, sign a contract with the telco and ciao, unless you intend to fulfill the contract; in which case the cost of the phone may even be higher than what you're going to be paying for an officially unlocked Maxis model

@Pennywise,
Depending on when you're going to return, perhaps you'll like to consider waiting till the 2010 model is out tongue.gif If you're going to be returning soon, perhaps get a friend or someone to go make a booking for U - the wait time is currently about 45 days.

@nokia2003,
But that option is a costlier option. AUD1129 x 3.05 = RM3.4k+

@nokia2003,
Oops... it was NZ$1129 was what I paid for the 16GB i3G. The i3GS was AUD1040. Still that comes up to RM3.2k sad.gif

@denniswwm,
The 32GB i3G does not exist; 32GB would be the i3GS.

@Ken,
As usual, people are just assuming once again!

@sugen,
Since this one is a refurbished unit from the USA, I will not put down the codes in the front. I guess we now have to find another way to determine if the phone is unofficially unlocked; maybe we'll need to do a physical check?

@PeeEl,
But that tells U the Warranty Coverage, it doesn't tell you whether your phone is locked or unlocked.

@PeeEl,
Oh! Thanks for the clarification.

@vexus,
And what would you like to discuss? Your post doesn't seem to be v relevant IMHO.

@Gill86_1114,
I've no idea what you're trying to get from your question. Thus far, it seems most buyers are happy with their purchases; just not so happy with paying for data services.

Also, ask urself what it is that U want in a phone; from there U should be able to gauge if the iPhone is suitable and worth ur $.

@clawhammer,
Maxis sets have always been officially unlocked. Data service not working proper is cause d settings are set for maxis network n u'll need to tweak it if using other telcos

@buyou12,
If u really wanna harness the iPhone and it's features, I'll recommend that u go for the i3GS. Based on ur calculation, it's a difference of 1.8-1.2k. The RM600 difference (IF u can afford it goes quite a long way if you decide to really make full use of your phone)

Also, wouldn't it give you better resale value when you opt to dispose it off?

@buyou12,
When U swap over to the iPhone U'll definitely be harnessing some of it's features be it IM/Safari/Stocks/Weather on the go. And if you're into games, of course the i3GS is the one to go.

The ultimate choice is urs; and don't regret getting whichever model; they're both good smile.gif

@nokia2003,
Sudah 5 months ah?! And what about 5 sets? *grins*

@hsyong,
You will need to setup an iTunes Store Account; you make your app purchases via the iTunes store and not Maxis.

The only thing you aren't able to do with the iPhone 3GS via DiGi is to Internet Tether; at least for now.

@hsyong,
It is possible only if Maxis allows you to make prepaid outright purchases. Thus far, most forummers have reported it's not available, for now.

@hsyong,
Maxis is rich; and with the recent re-listing, they're even richer, what's RM2490 to them? tongue.gif

As what teikwing has mentioned; go get a unit from Garage Sales. Speaking of which, I too have a brand new i3GS 16GB available for sale. Any takers, just PM me smile.gif

@kirakun,
It's as updated as when forummers give us the information. So, this particular one is a HK set?! Will update Post #1 shortly. Yes that should be right, HK sets are officially unlocked units hence u should be able to use it with any telco smile.gif

@Arapan,
Maxis is still keeping tabs on who's purchasing the i3GS and apparently they haven't yet opened up the outright prepaid purchase of the i3GS.

@gyver,
If you're getting ur set from China, just make sure it's from an authorised store because there are a couple of iPhone imitations in the China market and u definitely don't wish to be caught with one.

Having said that, the phones from PRC should be officially unlocked.
