after read out the info in this thread i still confused ...

i have been told by the seller that my iphone is contract phone aka officially unlocked, is it true? so he told me that i can upgrade directly from itunes whenever necessary

my phone model is MB500ZA so according to the list its considered singapore set, but i find out on'cydia" under 'manage" icon the yellow snow had been installed ....

so is it my phone the official unlock or the software unlock?

TQ inadvance
*
Since it's a Singtel unit, you can try deleting yellowsn0w and see if your iPhone is truly officially unlock by default. That's the best way to know.

@rthj

I called Apple Malaysia and they mentioned that there's no support for AppleCare For iPhone and only certain countries covers AppleCare for iPhone. like US etc.

Please refer to the first thead of this post @ Section 'E' : Additional Tips To Keep In Mind: 2. AppleCare For iPhone

hey guyz one question here. based on the official website of apple, it stated that there is a dock connector including inside the box, but i just bought the maxis iphone 8gb but there is no such thing inside.

does anyone facing the same issue ?thanks a lot

Read again: http://www.apple.com/asia/iphone/specs.html

There's no Dock for all 3G iPhones. Docks were only available for 2G iPhones.

The Dock connector is the USB cable with the "Dock Connector" pin.

@davidgary73,
got meh? i double check d still cant found anything in the 1st post saying tat maxis selling official unlocked or not..
owh okay found it in the other thread.. thanks for the link

If you continue reading the posts below the first post, the answers are there too. The iPhone_Part_Model_Number.pdf will tell you that Malaysia is officially unlock as stated by Apple.

When it comes to Officially Unlock iPhone units, you can use any simcard around the world with the phone. To put it in simple context, you slot in DIGI, Maxis, Celcom or UMobile simcard, it will work flawlessly. That's what official Unlock units are the most sort after units by many rather than the LOCK units.

iphone from maxis the 3g and 3gs both are unlocked phone?
the operator told me it is  unlock, but if i plug in other operator sim , will void warranty.

As stated on the first few post:

*Does a Singtel, NZ, Maxis Malaysia or an official unlock 3G iPhones work with our local telco Maxis, Celcom, DiGi and UMobile? Yes, just insert your current simcard.

Official unlock iPhone 3GS work with our local telco Maxis, Celcom, DiGi and UMobile? Yes, just insert your current simcard.

No sim card can void warranty. It's just a simcard only.

Both are equally good. Most wil go for bigger capacity HD. Your choice at the end of the day if your budget allows you to do so.

Thread updated with US - Buy.com link site as they are selling 16 & 32 3GS unlock iPhones. For those of you who are in US, you can proceed to get your iPhones via Buy.com.

Hi there, I'm a soon-to-be owner of iphone. Im planning to buy maxis set, 3gs 16gb btw.

i have a couple of question.

1.) After I jbed my iphone, and decided to restore it. Everything will be back to normal right? as in the appearance will be the same before i jb my iphone

2.) If i decided to restore my iphone after jb. What happen to the apps I installed through Cydia? Can I still use it?

thanks
*
1) The answers is Yes. Everything is back to it default settings.

2) All apps will be erased including Cydia. You need to JB again to install Cydia.

Make sure all iteams are included in the box.

If you can wait it out, iPhone 4 might be a better choice. Just save up for it.

Hey guys. I'm about to get an SG iPhone 4 later. I'm curious about how warranty works. Many places tell me that I will have to bring it back to SG for repairs if anything happens. Can I claim from our local resellers instead?
*
You can only claim warranty from the country you purchase the iPhone from and you can't claim it from the local seller or any local telco company.

Kindly read: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1573219 and this thread post > https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/871684/+4

Since iPod Touch is not your choice, save up and get the iPhone 4. It has better speed, processors, camera etc compares to the previous gen iPhones.
