Sony 50/1.4 is the sharpest on APS-C, according to the usually biased DPReview...

ryzan76, nice smoking man!
dark lenanza: The Remote Commander clip is a little latch-like thing that fits on your neck strap. It's used when you have a shutter cable release - unlatch the clip and put the cable inside the 'drain'. I would take a picture if I had one LOL. I'm pretty sure it comes with even the A200 as I've helped friends put camera straps on. The Remote Control only comes with the A700/A900. |

Yup... 2nd hand can get around 400~500bucks. The SAL-55200 is sharp wide open... but not sharper if stop down. Good thing about it is that it's 20mm wider than SAL-75300.

i need some tips in blending flash light with ambient light (tungsten). from what i read, the only way to fix this is by using coloured flash gel. is this correct? is there any other way around this?
other than DIY coloured gel, is there a ready made one? if there is, i would welcome some suggestions of brands/made/model. |

vcvx: I make pre-made gel holders that can be quickly removed. But you're all the way over there so I can't help you.
Look for a specialist photography studio equipment shop - they will stock the gels. Look for a full CTO (color temperature orange). Half CTOs also work but I don't really feel the need for them as it irks me if you only go halfway to getting rid of the tungsten cast. The other way is horrenduously tedious - shoot RAW, then export 2 JPGs, one at 5500K and the other at 2800K. Then you merge them... but often, skintones will have a bit of both ambient tungsten and flash so it's one or the other. Not pretty at all. |
