I'm also in a search for a headset mainly for gaming and voip chat. Plan to match with a Xonar DG. Currently don't plan to spend too much. Wish we could get US pricing sad.gif instead of the inflated prices we pay here.

Just wondering how much a difference is Siberia V2 vs Razer Carcharias, looking at the prices it would seem Razer is lower end. Both seem to score on comfort which is important as I intend to use this for a few hours at a time for music and gaming.
Currently using ATH-A700 and also a Superlux HD669.
*
Siberia V2 is really comfortable, the head bands kinda just sit on ur hair and it wont give much pressure on the sides of ur head. Charcharias is kinda the opposite though.

Xonar DG is a good budget card with a build in headphone amp, worth the buy.

Yup, the DG is good upgrade from the onboard sound. I've paired that with the Superlux and there is definitely a difference with and without the DG.

Anyone heard of the new range of Philips headphones launched just this year? They have a gaming line as well. No reviews yet. I wonder how they stack up against the current leaders.
http://www.lelong.com.my/philips-shg8000-p...7-01-Sale-I.htm

Price indicate it's competing with at least the Razer Carcharias.

Looks promising, need to wait for reviews first.

I've read around the thread and I'm still confused. With my budget of below RM300, what headset is the best in terms of gaming and occasional music/movie? Siberia V2? G35? Turtle Beach? Anything?  hmm.gif
*
The V2s are pretty good. Very light and comfortable as it just sits on ur head without exerting any pressure.

So, the V2s wins hands down then? In terms of sound too I suppose? Aside from the uber comfort trait  hmm.gif
*
Lets put a few as examples, SS Siberia V2, TB Z11 and Razer Orca/Electra.

the V2 is the obvious winner, not talking bout price but in terms of quality sound reproduction and besides the hour long comfort.

Test all of the before this, while playing games. The Electra/Orca, to me the build quality is alright but the sound it produces is rather flat and mediocre with muddy base. the Z11 build is slightly flimsy, and sound quality is not too good or too bad.

But these are stereo headsets per say. If ur looking for True Surround, its either TB Z6A or Roccat Kave, both 5.1. Had the Kave before, build quality is quite impressive, nice finish and feel to it. Sound quality is alright i guess, but the weight and pressure it gives on ur head, it all depends on the user. But it was too heavy indeed for me.

Thanks for the feedback bro. Ok, since you've mentioned Kave. What would you choose if there's V2 and Kave. This is disregarding price of course. Which would you choose over for a better sound quality/experience?
*
My opinion is Kave is quite biased now, cuz ive had it before. It does give that true surround feeling cuz of the individual speakers within as compare to the V2 which are stereo headsets. True, the Kave boasts alot more features and it does look bad-ass, the major down side of it, again is its weight. The 3 foam support on the headband just feels like it is sinking to ur skull.

The V2 is quite an all rounder. Looks great, very good build quality, soft foam pads and the headbands dont put pressure on ur head at all.

Kave is priced above the V2 by abit, but comparatively, it goes down to personal preference. Like myself, after i let go of my Kave, i havent found any potential headset to suits me, cuz my M50 pwns for nw, but i do still need a headset(mic purposes) for BF3.

If being insisted to choose between the two? I`d go for the V2

Hmmmm can't wait to get my own set of M50s. Using A700s now, hope to buy M50 one day after this headset business is done.

Any headset you own come close to the M50 audiophile headphones? Like if compared to V2, Kave etc?
*
Havent found any gaming headsets that can match the M50 so far. Thats why I havent got a new headset yet, but maybe I`ll also settle for the V2 just for the mic to play games and etc.

I've seen a lot of negative feedback for Logitech Precision Gaming headset on the internet..
Is it really that bad?
*
Most probably cuz of the design or build quality i guess. If you`re looking for a good headset, best is to save up abit more then get a proper pair, unless ur in urgent need of it.

There is a significant improvement. For example, the Xonar DG which comes with a built in Headphone amp, as compared to normal on-board sound and a discrete card without the amp, you`ll be able to hear the difference.

No man, just a general statement. Sorry if I offended you.

I'm just speaking from experience because all those cheap headsets I bought last time and it keep breaking I just wished I wised up earlier and bought a good one.  doh.gif

I concur. Used to own those kind of headphone/headset before too. Best is to save up and pair a good set of headphone/headset with a decent sound card, beside sound cards are very future proof too.

QUOTE(diaBoliQu3 @ Aug 18 2012, 04:39 PM)
Guys, can help me?
- Budget: RM 400. The cheaper the better.
- Rig: PC. Mobo is Asus P8Z77-V Pro. With DTS thingy but the onboard equalizer for gaming, movie and music are sucks. Speaker is Corsair SP 2500 with headphone jack.
- Gaming>Music>Movie.
- MP3, M4A, AVI, MKV, RMVB.
- Universal listener. Thus I need balance between clarity, and tight bass instead of loud and dull bass.
- Headphone.
- Other requirements:
> 5.1 or 7.1. More to action with shooting gaming. I think Sniper Elite V2 need an accurate sound position because very hard to spot the enemy.
> Comfy. My current cheapo headphone really hurt my ear after 30 minutes.
> Can get a decent wireless headphone?
> Ear cushion are changeable.

BTW, I need comment regarding real 5.1/ 7.1 or virtual 5.1/ 7.1. I want to know which sound better and other necessary thing I should know. All I know is "real" using all the jack while "virtual" using the green jack and virtually surround. I don't mind wired or wireless, virtual or real surround as long it's a decent headphone with a nice price. Thanks all...
*
How bout getting a better sound card?

If your`re looking for actual 5.1 headsets, its either Roccat Kave or TB Z6A. The only problem of surround sets is that if the EQ is not set up properly, it would feel like all the individual speakers, i.e. in the Kave or Z6A, are blasting away at you`re ears.

Its stereo, IINM. But easily compensated with a decent sound card via software.

Vantec NBA-200U 7.1 Channel USB Sound Card
is this sound card compatible with tiamat 7.1?
and also is this available in malaysia?

what is other option for usb 7.1 sound card in market now.
*
Not sure bout that one though.

I`d recommend Asus cards from the Xonar line.

Depending on budget of course. Maybe Asus Xonar DSX perhaps.

Mmm... Care to explain more boss regarding EQ? So, are you saying buying sound card will improve my speaker surround? Sniper Elite V2 really make me addict. Hehe...

Adjust via EQ software of the sound card. Can give you better positioning and if done correctly it feels real, like bullets swirling past ur head. that's from my experience while playing BF3 with my M-50s

Finally found the tiamat 7.1 at lowyat..... heart pounding when i first look at it lol, been waitin a long time for it! I even purposely went to buy a new soundcard Xonar Phoebus to match it..... but to my dissapointment why does it sounds so bad?? Compare to my old turtlebeach X41, tiamat really sounds awefully hollow n weak, yes there is surround but really lack of oomph, stereo mode kinda sounds better than 7.1 in games like diablo 3, guildwar 2, dota 2. Battlefield 3 & cod 4 ok ok only, nothing much to shout bout the surround. Seriously i hope there is some wrong configuration by myside..... any advice forummers? I already set 7.1 volume control and tested the surround 7.1 , it is working... but sounds very BAD n some hissing?
*
Hows ur setup?

I`d guess you`d have to balance out the EQ settings on the card and also the headset

Hi guys,

I'm looking around for new headphones with mic to replace my ageing (and problematic logitech headphones which i had for a few year already).

I'm currently into gaming over Teamspeak (WOT) and need a new set.

Budget around RM100-200 range. i will connect the headphones to my Logitech G110 keyboard. THanks.
*
I would suggest you to save up abit more and get SS Siberia V2, really worth it. Unless you need it urgently then maybe TB Z11, not too bad.

Is there any guide for that? Adjusting EQ for music already hard for me. Hehe... Adjusting for gaming might be harder than that. doh.gif
*
Same here. Had to self learn, as every has different taste, sound is a subjective thing. What may suit you may not suit others. Take patients there. And yes, EQ for games may vary, as do EQ for different genres of music.

Headphone(just the pair of cans) and headset(headphone + mic), there's a difference between the two.
Purpose? Gaming only?

A balanced one would be as per Skidd Chung, the SS Siberia V2.

Why not? I use AT M-50 when i play, these headphones produce way better sound than "gaming headset". Only drawback is no mic.

Takes abit to get fully adjusted to it. Sirus is the main competitor of the Roccat Kave. From my experience, the Kave is even heavier.
