QUOTE(X.E.D @ Nov 28 2008, 08:13 PM) [SHAMELESSPLUG] Help me win a 4850! Only require a little of your time. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/856018[/SHAMELESSPLUG] Shameless indeed lol. I might help.... though seriously, winning a name for Malaysia isn't going to help/fix the government. How high can 4850 core overclock compared to 4870 cores? If 4870 can reach 800mhz+, can't 4850 do that also?

I think the best way for you to fix your problem is by using uncle Google. I always use google first before asking these questions.

Faint: Nope, it can't . Max would be gamer settings plus 2x AA probably. If you want to play Crysis, you're better off with Nvidia card. In other games, 4870x2 beats everything hands down.

QUOTE(tech_frix @ Jan 5 2009, 03:38 PM) so what are u suggesting bro?? You want to run games at 1920x1200? 4870 512MB at least IMO for smooth gameplay. For 1680x1050, 4850 512MB at least for smooth gameplay. But 1920x1080.. I'm not sure(not sure if you can get min frame rates for games above 30fps with 4850). Added on January 5, 2009, 10:21 pmQUOTE(kayden @ Jan 5 2009, 08:13 PM) Chinese based website IT168 got their hands on with RV730, the upcoming HD 4670/4650. Initial test shows that HD 4670 is really close to HD 3850 512MB,which is only $100 in newegg. The core RV730 is a 55mm chip, running at 600MHz/750MHz(4650/4670), memory @ 700MHz/1000MHz(4650/4670), shader count is 320, the same with RV670. But memory interface is only 128bit, which sounds very low end… In benchmarks 3DMark Vantage shows HD 4670 still can not easily catches up with HD 3850 512MB. But in actual games like HL2EP2 and COD4, the card performs very well, only a few FPS less than 3850. Source[attachmentid=748366] Your point? Radeon HD 4670 has been here for ages. Check the thread date... 3 months ago ler... zzzzzzzzzzzz This post has been edited by blindbox: Jan 5 2009, 10:21 PM

QUOTE(tech_frix @ Jan 5 2009, 11:06 PM) i mean the same price range as 4670... Two choices, HD4670 or 9600GT. Find the cheapest one you can find. Be reminded that you can't use ayam PSU with 9600gt. Plus, 9600gt has an edge in crysis if that matters for you.

QUOTE(G_KeN @ Jan 6 2009, 02:36 PM) hmm, my hd 4870x2 always got problem.. always crash only when gaming, giving out blue screen.. any hd 4870x2 user here wanna share ur experience? Hmm.. you have the latest drivers(8.12)? http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=283829 Sounds like an RMA. LOL, one of his GPU is damaged. But let's not RMA before trying everything. If all else fails, try that card on someone elses pc. If you're a uni student, this should be fairly easy to do. Always check your other hardware as well. It might be the processor. See this guy http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=277577Try taking off one of your rams and try each one of em and etc etc. Anyway, you're better off posting this in a different thread in tech support. QUOTE(Faint @ Jan 6 2009, 10:21 PM) Anyone read this ? It may be out of topic because not relate to ATI 4000 series. AMD ATIAlways check the date of the damn news. No, they're not doing 512 bit, they're doing 256 bits, later news confirmed this, though they will maintain the bandwidth of 150GB/s, they made improvements to the 256 bit bus, nor can you put 3 5870x2 on a single board(CFX supports up to only 4 GPUs remember?). I doubt they're doing MCM either. Based on device list IDs someone reported(either xtremesystems or fud, not sure), R8xx is expected to use Hydra Engine, the one by Lucid. I also saw Palit Radeon HD4870 sonic for RM850 at lowyat, but that costs extra RM 70 la.

QUOTE(akachester @ Jan 20 2009, 01:21 PM) Do i need to shutdown first before switching or i can just switch it directly? Cause my PC is almost everyone on idle mode except during weekends where i usually game. I want to see you try Just kidding, switch it off first. Please wait for the card to cool down btw(or use gloves).Oops, you were talking about the turbo switch right? You can just flip the switch even if the pc is on. QUOTE(Forgotten06 @ Jan 25 2009, 01:18 AM) Just bought a HIS HD 4670 IceQ Turbo today. So far I am satisfied with its performance. But when i load CS : CZ, an error occured. It shows something like this : Cache_TryAlloc : 2331984 is greater than free hunk. What does it means actually? From what I googled its something to do with the GPU drivers. http://www.pcuser.com.au/pcuser/hs2.nsf/lo...A256AE6002DFE59http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=24338http://forums.thecatacombs.net/showthread.php?t=101663Not a graphic card related question.

Atrix? Never heard of them... Hmm... you'll need true power silverstone st50f imo(each pci-e slot is 75 watt, so two of these should equal the power consumption of Radeon 4850). Costs RM220 only.

@azarimy:Warranty won't be voided if you hook the stock cooler up again when sending it. I saw people pulling it off. People recommend AC Accelero Twin Turbo btw. It's a two slot cooler, and make sure you put ramsinks on those PWM. Why do you bother anyway? Can't you just replace that failing fan? Or is it an excuse to upgrade a bit ?
