is it.....this makes me think whether should i increase my budget to get this sigma lens or not
but i think it isn't true macro lens right?
actually i already increased my 2k budget to 4k for d90.....now seems like need to increase again

i really need to sit down and plan my financial carefully first, since I will only get them around Christmas and now still got sometime for me to do adjustment
yeah, maybe i will just get a cheap tripod, or just borrow my brother's tripod for the time being
anyway do you guys have certain shops in KL that you all use to buy from ?
i surveyed in lowyat last night, cheapest body alone is 3.1k with no free gift
kitlens is at 3999 with (choose 2 out of 3 bag, tripod and 4gb sdhc)
i was wondering whether should i get from fotokem or not since they can give extra 2 years warranty by charging 8% extra.....
fotokem ran out of d90, and the salesperson told me their kitlens was around rm4.1k
The choice is yours... D90 kit is around 3.9 to 4.1k. Body for 3.1 to 3.2k

Thanks AlphaBeta for your reply.
Anyway I'm currently looking for a prime lens for portrait/bokeh shots.
Is Sony 50mm F1.8 worth considering? Or should I source for 2nd hand KM 50mm F1.7 instead? Coz both are priced almost the same. What I worry most is the build quality of all Sony lenses. I hope they have no issues with the lens coating though...
Guys please advise me. TQ!

Get the Minolta 50 f1.7...why? Because it is a full frame lens..it can be used on Fullframe camera if u upgrade to FF in the future. Sony 50mm f1.8 is a APSC lens...only can be used on APSC cameras.

Type of camera/lens/accesories : DSLR camera
Budget : RM 1,500 - 2,200 include kitlens
Your Location : KL
Preferable brand : Canon or Nikon
Type of photography u want to do : Landscape or Portrait
Any specific models in mind? : Nikon D3000, D5000 & Canon 450D
Any specific features u want? : Live view preferably, not a must
Forget about Nikon and Canon's live view...they are just too SLOW to lock on focus! If u wan super fast live view, go for sony.
If the slow issue isnt a problem, then consider d5000 with swivel screen. But d5000 is priced at 2.6 to 2.8k... D3000 is ok too...450d is a bit old..

Budget: RM3000
Your Location: Kuala Lumpur
Preferable brand : Nikon and Canon
Type of photography u want to do : scenery, outdoor
Any specific models in mind? : 500D, D5000
Any specific features u want? : User-Friendly
i'm first time user, I asked my friends, some say 500D, some say D5000, I also dunno wanna choose which one

User friendly? Nikon definitely. But try pick a brand that most of your friends are using, so that you can share lenses. D5000 and 500d pretty similar. Just that d5000 has no built-in motor to drive some lenses. So take tht into consideration.

Budget: RM3000
Your Location: Kuala Lumpur / PJ
Preferable brand : Sony or Nikon or Canon
Type of photography u want to do :
-learning to photography...
-need a not to basic DSLR that suits most photography
Any specific models in mind? :
-Most ppl recomend nikon... My bro using Sony a380(Japan) ...kinda nice for me... Which is best/? Nikon/Sony/Canon? and models?
Any specific features u want? : With Life View function
You want live view? Then forget Canon and Nikon, their live view sux...slow like hell!...Sony is the fastest. If your bro is using SOny...go for sony then! no point getting diff brand if you guys staying under the same roof. Get the new sony A550! it rocks! But i think u could only get the a550 body...and u have no lens to shoot with..LOL! Try to increase ur budget...and get a most basic lens. Otherwise, get A380 with kit.
Sony?Nikon?Canon? - I personally used Sony and Nikon. I prefer Nikon more. However, Sony is very good for newbies to start off with and they are cheap too. I would recommend u to go check out Sony.
