Type of camera/lens/accesories : Prosumer/DSLR
Budget : Max. RM 2.3k, but preferably below RM 2k.
Your Location : Klang
Preferable brand : Whatever...
Type of photography u want to do : Candid, portraits, landscape, etc.
Any specific models in mind? : Lumix FZ35, Olympus SP-590UZ, Sony Alpha A330, Nikon D60/D3000...
Any specific features u want? : nil.

Are the above prosumers worth buying? As most of the time only fun shots, hence not in the need to invest in expensive lenses. That is why I'd consider either prosumer or entry level DSLR.

Please advise and thank you in advance.

Hi all...

Am having dilemma now in choosing between A330, D60 and D3000.

Had briefly tried out these 3 models by some simple random shots and holding on it, I'd say that Nikon has the best feel (in terms of grip and build quality/material) comparing to cheapo-built Sony.

But the cons for these 2 Nikon models are no tilted screen not like what Sony has. And D60 has only 3 focus points (is this important?) unlike 11 on the D3000. And Sony has the poorest build quality with very plasticky feel, smaller grip size (as compared to Nikon and even my old trusty A300), and toy-alike lens.

I'd really appreciate any comments from anyone who owned either of these 3 models. I'd like to hear your thoughts. I'm torn between these 3 DSLRs~!

Thanks AlphaBeta for your reply.

Anyway I'm currently looking for a prime lens for portrait/bokeh shots.

Is Sony 50mm F1.8 worth considering? Or should I source for 2nd hand KM 50mm F1.7 instead? Coz both are priced almost the same. What I worry most is the build quality of all Sony lenses. I hope they have no issues with the lens coating though...

Guys please advise me. TQ!

Hi AlphaBeta...

Wouldn't go for FF that soon, and actually never even think about it though. Coz I'm into photography for fun, never have a plan to invest too much on it.

Sony's 50mm F1.8 lens come to my mind bcoz it's brand new, priced the same as the KM 50mm F1.7 lens, and relatively under my budget range. KM lens are mostly aged or no longer brand new, hence worry of getting myself a poor condition lens.

I really hope it's gonna be a best bet coz I ain't going for FF, at least not for the moment.

Thanks anyway for your reply.

Cheers! smile.gif
