I see you've already got the 5D MkII. brows.gif
G9 is the predecessor of the G10.
G10 is the successor of the G9.
Btw, G11 is coming soon.

If your budget permits, you should always get the latest.
I have no idea why some people would tell you to refrain from the Canon G-series.
One advantage about the G10 is that it's heavier, however, it may be a downside to other users/photographers.
PS: I prefer heavier cameras so I can *feel* it. blush.gif

Regarding availability to purchase a G9, I have no clue regarding that issue. sweat.gif

Well yea, your friends do have a point when telling you to refrain from Canon G-series due to it's high price (nearing entry-level DSLR prices sweat.gif)
Besides that, all I can think about is the Fujifilm F70EXR with 10X zoom in such a slim body! shocking.gif
However, it's got lower IQ (image quality) when compared to LX3/F200EXR.
But I doubt you'll notice the difference in IQ. tongue.gif

If ur a total beginner. Go get the Sony A200. U definitely wont regret coz Sony treats it's customers like Gold! U get to attend the free workshops in KLCC Sony Centre for free. They will teach u everything u need to know about SLR. Sometimes got workshops for flash, product shooting n others too. Best thing is all the trips they organise for Alpha owners. They take u to places like Malacca, Johor n more, all for FREE! While on the trips they even give free lunch n dinner, lotsa freebies like photographers vest, laptop bags, Alpha tshirts, umbrellas n all. It's a whole load of fun learning with Sony. Everything is run by really friendly instructors. I totally enjoyed my time with Sony. Sony Malaysia really cares about it's Alpha users.

Something light weighted and can zoom 10X is the Fujifilm F70EXR.
It can zoom 10X and is ultra slim! brows.gif drool.gif

Too bad all these great events only held in KL.

In Penang, have to depend on own self to learn...

If you want HDR, I think you shouldn't have HDR features built-in camera.
HDR should be done through Photoshop.
