Well, that's wad it takes to be Celcom user, mate. Capped speed is like a common flu around here. Comes and goes indefinitely. I just hate the upload speed for now... So far I have to carry my laptop to places with free wi-fi to upload my pics and files. Inconvenient!!! Celcom wasnt like this 4-6 months back. Back then it was bad. Now it is freaking worse. I guess that's wad happen when they congest the network. Fresh influx of customers every day but no additional bandwidth... Last time there were 2 DNS in my area so I never got any difficulties in connecting. Now only 1, sometimes takes 30 min just to get connected. Irritating but I am stuck wif Celcom so wad can I do...

Well wireless broadband services via 3G in Malaysia will never have a good upload speed.

Well I think 4-6 months back, there was no problem in uploading using Celcom. It was slow but never got problems (except the slowness problem tongue.gif ). Now, uploading image or file often got errors. Like 9.5 out of 10 attempts. Like winning a lucky draw if I can upload pic to my blog. I'm sure lots of ppl here noe how it feels tongue.gif

Maybe coz u use Singapore not Malaysia server. But of coz it wont make huge difference...

I have to agree, uploading to Friendster or Facebook is a pain in arse. Before, it was at least "decent". Now... it is even worse than dial-up or GPRS.

Well, talking about upgrade, I have never, even for once, felt Celcom connection is faster or better. So I dun think they really upgrade. The only thing they upgrade is their infamous throttling system. Last time, I was still uncapped after 10GB or so. Now, when I hit a little more than 5GB, the speed drops instantly. So the upgrade the CS have been telling is probably referring to this. Now I can say their throttling system is flawless. No one can escape the hands of Celcom tongue.gif

I mean if the modem is locked and it's just for DIGI network, why when I put my celecom sim card (the prepaid)
the modem can catch the network but when I but postpaid no network available

I am sorry for this great language that I have  tongue.gif
I am studying English language in MMU, melaka. I hope to improve my English.

u should use campus wifi like fruitie. will be much beta. of coz if u manage to get reception smile.gif or just hang out couple hours at campus to download. it beats using Celcom 128kbps, hours to download movie or series. sometimes a day mad.gif

Yeah. We all hope the upgrade will bring more improvements in terms of service and connection stability  rclxms.gif
Celcom better do something about it before many of its user jump ship to DIGI or other network provider  sweat.gif

Well, DiGi 3G prelaunch promo not really good. RM128 a month for first 6 months and 12-month-minimum contract. Bad... Not to say Celcom is good but it is beta than DiGi for now, at least. It will be difficult to compete against Celcom unless there are some special circumstances such as big-shot foreign investors. Malaysia exposure to internet is much earlier than some countries like China but is not falling behind them.

If DiGi makes no-contract deal, RM128 a month sounds good. After all, it has 10GB quota. I believe the price will come down just like Celcom last time.

I faced the same problem, starting a week ago. Have some disconnections but not really often. But everytime making a new connection, it is always failed. Sometimes takes 30 times just to get connected, in worst case scenario that is.

I think Celcom is cutting cost by huge margins. Last time there are 2 DNS servers in my area so there was no congestion problem. Now only 1 DNS. And making connections at night is much harder than at day. Sometimes have to use GPRS. I think they cut bandwidth or something. Well since it is amidst of global crisis, I think it is highly likely. If this upgrade proves to be "downgrade", there would be flames soon tongue.gif

I'm just a temporary celcom 3g user. I bought a prepaid 3g sim, den subscribe for daily unlimited.

I use it in cameron highlands now. Getting full bar hsdpa signal, but cant even load lowyat properly and msn cant sign in.

I switch to grps, at least i can load lyn and msn connected and chat properly.

I lawled at celcom.

same here and everywhere else. guess is becoz the ridiculous upload speed. i getting 8-10kbps for last 15 days or so. ironically Celcom GPRS upload is much faster, about 50kbps. i think they cut the upload speed to further limit P2P usage. maybe... who noe wad Celcom trying to do...

btw, wad happen to the rumor about the real "unlimited" Celcom BB mentioned at the start of this thread?

Running speedtest atm... Waiting for upload to start. Time elapsed: 8 minutes ++ ...

So I have a theory on this problem in slow upload: Why Celcom BB suddenly have slow upload speed?? (Take note that 4 months ago, it was around 100kbps)
1. Slow upload can curb P2P applications.
2. Slow upload makes people register higher or faster average speed in speedtest website. Literally... After all, only fast users can actually test their speed. Those capped users will NEVER get to test their speed.
3. Slow upload can minimise the spread of facts about Celcom misconduct in providing inferior service, such as LYN users cant post easily.

Wad do u guys think?

Update: it seems to take forever to get upload speed tested... and im trying to post this post...

More update: time to use fast reply function (YES!!! Finally posted!) rclxms.gif

Well, most ppl wont notice the importance in upload speed unless their upload speed like 8-10kbps... That includes me, at least in the past. Now that I cant use MSN normally or upload files and pics, internet is like one-way radio communication. U can receive but cant send.

I just dun get it y Celcom cut the upload speed by 10 times... From 100 to mere 10kbps... Even after all the recent "upgrades"... Unless it is done on purpose, see?

I think it is the "upgrade". I also got lots of disconnections. And "0bps" for 10 seconds or so before getting back to ~100bps. Another move from Celcom. Slow upload. Now even slower download. This problem pops out at nite. At day, it is ok. "Excellent" upgrade! Upgrade for Celcom, downgrade for users!

Most likely this is done to accommodate more users without additional bandwidth. Exercise maximum throttle measures, cut bandwidth usage and allow more new customers. But this can only last for awhile. Once majority of Celcom users notice the problem, it would be an outrage. A massive one!

Has anyone tried using media to report this problem? Nothing seems to be beta for last couple of months.

Update: Somehow I can only detect Celcom 3G using my postpaid. No more GPRS. But my mobile can detect Celcom GPRS. Anyone have same problem?

I think if it is U Mobile, it is beta than Celcom. U mobile only use Celcom (a.k.a national roaming) when there is not U mobile own coverage. Another guy posted that he downloaded 136GB++ using Maxis while still uncapped. I cant never go beyond 10% of that when using Celcom.

Anyway, today is really slow... Slower than two three days ago...

In terms of mobility, Celcom wins hands-down. But seeing how consistent U mobile, I would rather have U mobile than Celcom. I'm not using for mobility. I'm using Celcom as there is no other ISPs around. Not asking Celcom to be lightning fast or something near there, coz it would be impractical. Just decent enough for some proper internet usage. That's all...

I cant even post here properly, without retrying for many times that is...

I'm done wif praying. After all I'm paying not for some random service that can be based on luck or such... Is this lucky draw, lottery or some wheel-of-fortune?

1 more day to my uncapped date. They better make sure it is uncapped on 24.02.09, then only I can judge its overall performance in my area.

Ironically, speed is quite OK for me if I don't ask for more. sweat.gif Anyway, 1 day isn't that difficult after all I've waited for 18 days. sleep.gif

Congrats for that. My line will be uncapped in half a month's time... Long way to go... Till then, slow, unsteady speed for me. Poor me...

at least u r much faster than most of us here. 300 is like 3 times faster than mine.

dun think streamyx problem affect Celcom BB. just my wild guess. coz i got disconnected several times a day without fail. and making a new connection is really difficult at nite. this should have nothing to do wif streamyx. unless Celcom BB let streamyx ppl to manage their networks which i highly doubt.

Sorry, mind if u provide speedtest results and area. Out of curiosity.

Well, Celcom happens to be the only ISP in my area so it would be difficult not having internet connection but thanks for ur suggestion anyway.

I merely implying there has been increase in ppl reporting their dissatisaction. 99% dissatisfaction doesnt mean 100% rite?

99% dissatisfaction. Too lazy to include the names so just do the minority. 1% include realcheraz and anyone else?

Lets take this as a market survey for Celcom BB by Celcom BB users. After all, there r so many misinformation in advertising world nowadays, yes?

1st post. Welcome biggrin.gif U just subscribed to Celcom BB?

Btw, good speed. But as usual, terrible upload speed. I cant believe u finish speedtest with that upload speed. I tried few times and gave up after wasting 10 min or so... How come ur limit is 10GB?

Beta start conversing bandwidth before they "clamp" u hehehe. Once again, welcome and enjoy joining our little shoot-the-Celcom discussion tongue.gif
