Dear MOD,

Please keep this thread open till Monday night. Thank you..
-------------

Ok.. how do I start this off.. I can't seem to find any proper words to say all these out. Anyway..

For those who has visited the LBP thread, you should have known about this and for those who are clueless regarding the existence of this thread.. Well, a fellow LYN member, a gamer among us and a dear friend.. has left us because of cancer.

Who is this someone that I am talking about? To start off, most knew her as aphrael around this dark side of the forum, there were also those who knew her and called her Dani, while a lucky few known her by her real name of Rachel.

The news of her 'passing on', came as a very shocking and sad news to alot of us. Tears covered my eyes when I read the news. Someone that I laughed and had fun together with left just like that. Just like what BlueLotus said over the LBP thread, she seems so healthy and lively all this while. And to find out that she had cancer is indeed very shocking.

I don't really know what to say anymore for now.

Everyone, if it's not too much to ask, let's pay her a last respect and pray for her and her family. This is the least we could do for a fellow gamer and a dear friend....

Rest well dani.. *spank*

:'(

-------
To those who could make it to her funeral, please refer to this post by Bhaer.

QUOTE(Bhaer @ Nov 14 2008, 02:57 PM)
Hi guys,

I would like to inform you that Rachel aka aphrael has passed away from cancer. sad.gif

The wake will be at 8pm tonight, Saturday and Sunday in St Ignatius Church, Kelana Jaya. The Funeral is on Monday starting at 2:30 pm in St Francis Xavier.

You can contact 019-2139339 for more details.
*
If it's possible, for those who are interested maybe we could go over together. I think I will be taking half day leave on Monday.

-------
The thread is slowly fading away but it did make an impact on everyone while it lasted. Hope you are doing well up there. Rest well my friend. We will always remember you in our heart. Goodbye =) - 23/11/08, 11.14pm

My best memory of her was hearing her laughter over VoIP as we rode the streets of liberty city..... She looked fine on her friendster. I really had no idea....

I don't know aphrael as much as some of you guys do, but I got to know about her when both of us shared the same "Hell Girl" avatar and we both laughed about it. I am shocked to hear that her demise was so sudden and I am sadden by the fact that her life was cut short by cancer. Sometimes life is so unfair. May she rest in peace.

Rest in peace. I've noticed her post and avatar for quite a while - never knew it was a she though.

Always sad to see someone who seemed 'so close yet so far' pass away all of a sudden and had her prime robbed away from her.

God bless you.

I looked it up in google and found out that Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system includes tissues and organs such as your spleen and tonsils. Currently there is no known cure for this disease.

Can't say I know her that well either, but I've seen her around, and as a fellow Lowyat member and especially a gamer, my greatest condolences. Reading from her buddies post, I hope she had fun with her time being with us.

That being said.. it's almost like she knows she won't be make it sad.gif

I'm deeply saddened to learn of her death even though I have not played any games with her before.

As we know life turns in many weird ways and we can't make sense of any of them.

Let's celebrate her life and the joy she brought us when she was still around, and hoping her spirit will always remain by our sides.

Rest in peace, Rachel.

Though I didn't know her but going through the old posts and looking at the youtube videos, I admire the fact that she always sounded positive - to the extend that she expected to be back mid November for gaming sessions but unfortunately, that was never to be.

If you have any of her photos or mementos, her family would greatly appreciate it if you could bring them along to the wake/funeral. Thank you.

---

She was really looking forward to playing Fallout 3 (her CE arrived shortly before she went for her ops), LBP (might still be with Nelson, maybe someone should let him know she's passed on), Eternal Sonata and Valkyria Chronicles. She had wanted to start her Wii collection next year.

Yeah...even she said that on Fallout 3 thread. I thought she's on business trip since she only said she will be away from her PS3 for awhile. It's kinda sad to think a fellow gamers that manage to get Fallout 3 CE early passed away. I know she as excited as mine when i get my Fallout 3 CE Lunchbox

and to certain extent, she was right.....Bethesda screw up Fallout 3.

It's kinda hard to find a girl who love Fallout 1 & 2

and for LBP, she's the first person i play coop during the BETA. I had a good time laughing playing the beta...and im sure she also enjoy it as much as i am. Im gonna check back whether my Beta level still in the server...because i put a sticker of her sackgirl & my sackboy in it

On behalf of PSZone, we would like to give our deepest condolences to the lost of a great and passionate gamer. notworthy.gif

I did promised Rachel her A4 LBP folder eventhough she is getting the R1 version and the A4 folder was only eligible for R3 pre-order customers. She told me that she will be back at the end of November, still keeping her LBP for her.

In any case, rest in peace.

Yup i also think should pass to her on her funeral. Since already reserved for her.
The way she informed everyone, she is full of confident and positive but is really sad as it happen.
If not mistaken got few forumer will go to her funeral. I think can ask them for help. At least this is the only last thing can be done for her.

Hey guys,

I am sorry to hear about a passing of your friend (whom I don't know of) and have seen The Star Oblituary (wrong spelling) on the page. It's sad to see someone we know and passes us by without a wink.

Although I don't know aphrael at all but have seen her post, reading from this thread makes me realize some of you known her have make memories with her.

Let not be the end of everything and enjoy what we do now and make the best of it in real life. My condolences to her and to all those who really know her by real name or her nick.

wow omg. i had no idea...just read this thread.

I remember playing GTA IV with her, I had no idea she was sick. Even manage to chat with her on the mic within the game and she sounded so happy. I was wondering why I never saw her online anymore sad.gif

RIP Dani/Aphreal you will be missed.

Thought of something, whoever owns a copy of MGS4, we should all meet up in a MGO session and take pic together while saluting. For dani.

What you guys and gals think?

We were playing around with dani back then, it would be nice to look back and remember.

QUOTE(Muchi @ Nov 14 2008, 10:55 PM)

If it's possible, for those whoa re interested maybe we could go over together. I think I will be taking half day leave on Monday.
*
I want to pay my respects as well....

Although i never knew her nor played with her, she was one of us, she was a LYN member and a gamer. But we look beyond that....

We over here at the Consoles Couch are a bunch of nice people, we are close to one another and whenever we can meet up we try our very best to. I love this community and whenever someone passes in my community it saddens me deeply, to think i could have played with Dani in a game but never did saddens me even further. i never got to know her but from what i can tell she must have been a brilliant and kind person to play with. We LYN members are like the best of friends and sometimes even family so from this view i am saddened but we must pay our respects and remember her as kind, fair individual who loved to interact with us gamer geeks here at LYN..

With the utmost respect and deepest condolences, may she rest in peace..

Perhaps, we could post all the positive and fun memories, or the brief instances we've managed to talk to her.

Heres what she had to say about Bernard, lol.

I will second that! Bernard is a real nice guy. Very patient and honest. My experience at GH so far has been less than satisfactory. Maybe coz I'm a girl so they dont think I'll buy anything  So I ended up buy my games and ps3 from Bernard.

Anyhoo, I'll be getting the US version even if it's gonna be delayed. I can wait

Be cheerful and positive~~

Its not her choice at all to have cancer but she acknowledged it and lived her life to the max by enjoying playing games with you guys, hang out with her friends and family and etc. She might have lost her battle against it but it doesn't mean that she has lost the war by having you guys and all of the LYN community with her smile.gif

Muchi suggestion for the salute is great. But my MGS4 is not belong to me. I not yet get it. Anywhere I would like to dedicate a song that i feel is suitable for those that had leave us indeed this song is written as her close fren had leave her. By reading the lyrics already feel it.

QUOTE
Ayumi Hamasaki - untitled ~for her~

* We walked hand in hand
We laughed and cried over trifles

We were innocent and bright in those days

** If I could have just a wish come true now
I want to see you again

You decided that day
That you would walk all alone
On the endless road
Over that cloud to the sky

Leaving here so many things
I want to tell of and talk about

We walked without holding hands
We quarreled over trifles and got stubborn

Even the stupid quarrels are my sweet memories now

** (repeat)

Supposing everyone goes on the endless road
Over that cloud to the sky
Sooner or later
Be sure to wait for me

And then, we will talk away
With our countless memories

Can you see me from your place ?
Are you watching over me ?

Though this may be a common expression
You stay alive
Always as you are
In my heart

However many times the seasons may pass
Our days are fadeless

I'm not promoting the song but feel is suitable.

p/s : She sang the song for the first time in her concert and can't hold her tear.

Not a regular here , nor even a regular gamer. I don't know about her but after reading 10 pages and reading some of her posts. I am sadden by the shocking news that she passed away at such a young age. My deepest condolences to her family. Its sadden to see that God has taken a life of young lady but at least she would be happy to know that a lot of people here in LYN and I do believe over at PSN community also look up to her as a superhero !

Thanks bro =)
Facebook
You are on MGO at the moment right? Maybe you can have a separate photo shoot with the others you are playing with at the moment.

I sent her a facebook message because I'm not really on her friends list so I am unable to to post on her public wall. I hope her family can access her accounts.

To those who are unable to join in the MGO photo session, I think it would be okay as well to take a pic of yourself saluting, may it be alone or with other people and post it here as well. I will compile any tribute posted here to the front page later on. Just tag ur post as a "Tribute" so I will know which to compile. Thank you everyone.

I will try and PM the mods later and maybe ask for an extension until Thursday for closing this thread.

for those who are friends with dani on facebook/friendster, perhaps post a link to this thread on her wall so that her family can be glad to know how many people her life has touched.
