yup.. citroen acquired maserati in the late 1960s.. so they wanted 2 make a 2 seater mid engined supercar 2 rival against ferrari's n lambo's.. the bora is wat resulted.. becoz of this, a lot of citroen's stuff is being used in the bora, brakes, steering, clutch etc.. 2 my mind, wat makes the bora truly unique at that time was its user friendliness.. it had a posh interior, seats n interior wrapped in leather, good sound proofing, it even had double glazing.. ferrari's n lambo's at that time were making, quite literally, undriveable cars.. the countach 4 instance, its a great car 2 look at, but a pain in the ass 2 drive.. yes, compared 2 the 308 n countach, the bora's performance is pathetic.. this is due 2 all of the luxuriness of it, making it heavy if compared 2 its rivals.. as a result, it wasnt very successful..

ohh... really? then im lovin it even more! for a car that age, if i actually had one, i wont be using it to race against anyone.. i just wanna drive it at cruising speed, enjoying the luxuries and the sound of the engine, while listening to some oldies... that'd be a perfect car for a sunday morning drive around the countryside! it's a brilliant car IMHO, but too bad it doesnt do well in terms of performance.. but the good part is, it's even more affordable if it's not as good as the countach. hopefully i can buy the car from the owner in sungai petani someday.. hopefully it's still running with the original engine and well taken care of.. now need to save lots of cash!

its not that it doesnt do well in terms of performance.. 0-60 in 6.5 secs, top speed 266kmh.. thats really good even by 2day's standards.. its juz that if compared 2 its main rivals that, which r much much lighter, the bora juz isnt as good.. n when we're talkin bout supercars, figures juz means business..

u know, there is a cheaper version of the bora, called the "merak".. it uses the same body as the bora, n looks pretty much the same, wit a smaller v6 engine..

i didn't see a lot of exotics when i was there though...just the ones i posted above...maybe it's not a weekend and it's day time....heheh

damn right! it's a lot more beautiful than most current cars on the streets! 6.5 secs is amazing enough for something that old. at least twice pickup speed than my saga. and can hit 266kmh is impressive enough too! although i would not dare to go that fast if i actually had one. heheh. googled a bit and found out the merak handles better due to lower weight and better weight distribution. it even has small back seats. bora doesnt have any. anyway, the merak and bora looks a bit like something from detomaso dont u think? car designers back then are like van gogh and da vinci. their creations are amazing and the designs last forever! hey, thanks for ur infos! great we have the same passion!

its sad isnt it, that car designs 2day r goin backwards instead of forwards.. instead of making more beautiful cars, we seem 2 be making more ugly ones, even supercars.. car designers 2day r governed by so much safety rules n regulations, that its impossible 2 design sumthin beautiful anymore.. ferrari's 4 instance, 2 me, they stop making pretty cars after the 355.. the 360, the 430, the 612, the 599 even r not pretty.. we juz think they r coz theyre ferrari's..

Yeah you're right there, the last truly beautiful Ferrari was the F355. Every Ferrari since then has been overly compromised, styling-wise by their own quest for better aerodynamics.

And in the California's case, they've lost their plot completely. The styling was compromised not only for aerodynamic downforce, but also for ultimate refinement at speed, which is just blasphemy for Ferrari. Factor in also the needless folding metal roof, and they ended up with the mess the California is.

They have forgotten Enzo Ferrari's own quote - "Aerodynamics are for people who can't build engines"

yup. f355 is a beauty. id rather have the f355 than it's successors. except the 599gtb, i think the 599 is pretty as well. the latest california is worse than the old one. even the japs are following the same pattern. i really think the accord is getting uglier with each new version. same goes for the fairlady, and mr2, etc. 240z is a beauty, 350z also pretty, but the new 370z if im not mistaken, it's plain ugly. but then again, different people have different taste. i really dont care how much did they improve on the drag coefficient or anything like that if it only makes the car uglier. well, anyway, retro designs are in nowadays, and hopefully we'll have more beautiful cars soon.

if enzo ferrari was still alive, cars like the new california wouldnt even exist.. enzo surely wouldnt want sumthin like that holding his name.. that weird looking front end, that enormous fat ass, that folding metal roof.. make no mistake though, i love the california very much.. 2 me, it is the most complete supercar ever..

i guess im kinda agreeing wit wat jon claydon said on his review of the california, "is it a good car? sure it is.. but it is also a ferrari created by market research"..

i dono y, but i never like any Porsche cars apart from the Cayman (love the flow of the car) and the Carrera GT (how can u not like it?)... others all looks just... ugly...
