QUOTE(CooShyRee @ Feb 7 2009, 01:18 PM)
its sad isnt it, that car designs 2day r goin backwards instead of forwards.. instead of making more beautiful cars, we seem 2 be making more ugly ones, even supercars.. car designers 2day r governed by so much safety rules n regulations, that its impossible 2 design sumthin beautiful anymore.. ferrari's 4 instance, 2 me, they stop making pretty cars after the 355.. the 360, the 430, the 612, the 599 even r not pretty.. we juz think they r coz theyre ferrari's..
*
Yeah you're right there, the last truly beautiful Ferrari was the F355. Every Ferrari since then has been overly compromised, styling-wise by their own quest for better aerodynamics.

And in the California's case, they've lost their plot completely. The styling was compromised not only for aerodynamic downforce, but also for ultimate refinement at speed, which is just blasphemy for Ferrari. Factor in also the needless folding metal roof, and they ended up with the mess the California is.

They have forgotten Enzo Ferrari's own quote - "Aerodynamics are for people who can't build engines"

Well I wouldn't say super rich.. The TVR Chimaera was never really that expensive here - around RM300k in its time.

haha well being a TVR, it's probably not running anymore, and fixing it would cost a whole lot more than it's worth, therefore dumping it is not such a hard decision.

Nice talk about TVRs here. Good to see proper enthusiast in the mix, rather than the usual "cool car.. ok, moving on..."

TVR.. Now that's an interesting car maker. They don't make particularly good cars. They are notoriously unreliable, has completely bonkers ergonomics, absolute style over substance rationality, and awkward looks, to say the least.

But above of all that, they're all extremely fast, not for their price (which is cheap), but for any price.

The best looking TVR in my books is the Cerbera. Sleek, elegant, but screams ultimate performance. The newer TVRs (Tamora, Tuscan, T350c, Sagaris) look cool too, but to me the Cerbera is the epitome of what TVRs are all about.

Regardless of what you think of TVR cars, you just can't help but respect a company that rolled out something as insane as the Sagaris, can you?

BTW, TVR did make a 3.6l version of their Speed Six engine for their smaller cars - Tamora and T350c.

Due to the angle of the picture, it's hard to determine for sure, but my speculation is that it's a 911 (993) GT2.

The huge rear wing (with integrated air intakes on each side) is a great tip-off, along with the ultra wide hips.

Its an Alfa Romeo 159... One of their most beautiful cars...
*
Actually that's an Alfa Romeo Brera.

Those two models do look remarkably similar, but for Alfistis and car aficionados, it's quite easy to tell them apart. The front lower valance is a dead giveaway - the 159's is a much simpler design. The Alfa shield on the Brera is much wider and shorter compared to the 159's. And the one on the 159 extends downwards and connects with the front lower lip.

Ridiculous talk. There is only 1 P4/5 in existence.

Breras are 3-door hatches, you fool.
159s are 4-door sedans.

I think they were refering to the 330 P3 and 330 P4, not the Enzo-based P4/5.

But anyway, since we've already assumed that the car has been rebodied, what's the point of arguing what car it actually is, solely based on the way it looks? We wouldn't know for sure if its a 330 P3, 330 P4, 330 P3/4, 412P, or even replicas of the said models.

But one thing is certain, if it indeed is a genuine Ferrari prototype car (of which only a handful were made), it would be worth hundreds of millions of dollars to collectors. And I believe it wouldn't go down well with Ferrari collectors that the owner has modified the car to look like the distasteful monstrosity it now is. IF it's genuine, the owner deserves to be shot. Dead. Now.

As for the Brera/159,
LOL he is a fool, no doubt, but in this particular case I think he was asking about the front only (because that's the only part that can be seen in the picture).
