Hi, newbie here. I'm looking for a king size mattress and budget is 3k for mattress and 1.5k for bed frame. Prefer soft to medium type. I know that budget is a little tight for a king size but appreciate advice. Thanks in advance.
*
Spend less on the frame. More on mattress. Just get a divan... All of them same same.. Difference on head board design only. Can try the King Koil like steventan85 suggested. Or go try some mattress yourself. See if you can score a Serta on discount or not.

I just bought a Dunlopillo Princeton with divan and the other freebies like mattress protector, 2 pillows, 2 bolster, and 2 more cheapo down pillow for RM4,600 at Homedec KLCC.

Was told this is fully imported. But when I came home and do online checking, I can't seems to find this mattress series anywhere!!! Did I get conned? Is this price reasonable?
*
Imported from Indonesia is also import.... Hahahaha. If it's real Dunlopillow it should be okay lah but I don't think it's a deal.

Getting mattresses from exhibition only have 2 outcomes :

A) good deal with cheap spec mattress

b) good deal with overpaid price.

You have made the purchase so surely you find it a good deal.

Dunlopillo is made in Vietnam. So it is no wrong to say "fully imported". Somehow if they say "imported from Europe", this is a beautiful lie.

Seller at exhibition is smart, if the model is available else where, they make no sales during the expo period.
*
With one exception... if the deal is done by the manufacturer/exclusive distributor and not a dealer. e.g. Simmons, in exhibition its by the sole distributor themselves and not a dealer.

To pick your brain, which is the cheapest 100% natural latex queen bed in the market now? I saw one, Englander Orlando by Courts, RM1099..but not sure if its natural all recycled (used condoms? lol) latex.

*
The most ridiculous part is MFO has "moving out sale" and "warehouse sale" every other week.. I don't see them moving also.

*
Well, now you know the truth. Don't naik kereta lah! If I were to choose right now.. my choice would be the Westin Heavenly Bed.. the whole setup for king size is around RM8k~RM10k

But man those sheets and layers upon layers. Fuiyoh

you can get a normal firm pillowtop spring mattress + mattress pad + smoothing linen + cozy down blanket + most importantly ---> a cool AIRCOND room.

the whole king size mattress setting = less than 4k.

if the setting is based on serta Royal Platinum, the setup is less than 6k.

westin heavenly bed is OEM brand. it is too much for the price.

and people here wont spend much on the bedding accessories.
*
Serta Royal Platinum, pocket spring? That's affordable man. Queen size?

True about the accessories, but that's what make the heavenly bed experience! Of course you can DIY for much less.

jz check out goodnite latest matress. latex v 1899 andmemory form 2200 free 2 pillow.izit tis a good deal?
*
It's only a good deal if you like sleeping on the mattress. I hate the feeling of memory foam so it's a bad deal regardless of the price.

I can live with latex if it's an air conditioned room. My favorite is still old school pocketed spring. My brother swears by memory foam.

Wow, looks like a freaking good deal lor.. LOL.

Anyway I don't like Serta, for me its Simmons with individual pocketed springs. I don't like the AoE on non-individual springs.

hi, I went to renovation fair and book a dunlopillo Corina premium king size RM8000, come with the bed frame, pillows, and protector, is the price reasonable?

or i should go for Serta with this price?
*
For RM8k I will get a Simmons, if you're lucky.. I don't think anything available now below 10k. A Sealy, a Serta, or for almost half of RM8k, the Malaysian Westin Heavenly Bed which is made by King Koil.

Thailand made series are below 10k but the feel is bad. No point to consider as there are many alternative mattress gives same feeling at much rock bottom price.
*
I have not come across Thai made Simmons during their booths @ fairs or their showroom @ Pavilion. Only Korean, Japan and USA.

I have the Westin Heavenly Bed at home, purchased 2.

It's not as good as it sounds, the feeling is quite different from that in the hotel. For one, the rooms in Westin are always air-conditioned, so the bed feels cold and inviting.

However try putting the bed in a normal room with no air-con on all the time, and you will know that it can get quite hot.

If you purchase from Westin, Westin also makes an additional cut from the sales of the bed. So in the end, the bed actually only really costs around RM4-5K for a king size.
*
The price list I saw, the king size mattress alone is selling for ~RM4.3k without the base. Honestly at that price its worthwhile. Alternatively one can go for the King Koil hotel series.

As for feeling hot with no air conditioning...It is true, but I don't expect a mattress to keep cool right, eventually our body heat will warm the bed up also. The mattress is not a heat sink. Not sure about those techno-gel or horse hair mattress.

EDIT: And as iamsobloodysick shared earlier, a lot of the heavenly bed feeling comes from the sheets and layers as well.

Jason, is there anyway we can get the westin heavenly bed (mattress) directly from king koil? (minus the sheets and layers)

I kinda regret my decision for spending so much on the westin heavenly beds, could just have gotten them directly from king koil instead from westin.

The duvet/comforter and pillows are nothing to shout about, just ordinary. For normal afternoons, I prefer turning the fan on with the windows open for an afternoon nap, but then the bed is really warm and uncomfortable.
*
I doubt you can get the exact Westin specification directly from King Koil, but King Koil would definitely have something similar to it. I think iamsobloodysick can chime in on this.

The only thing that I dislike about King Koil Malaysia is their warranty.

Thanks Jason. I have a read through the warranty, and 10 years seem abit short. Normally, what is the acceptable standard warranty period for beds?
*
There's Malaysian standard, these pro-rated rubbish.

Or you can go for market leader standards. Like this by Sealy
http://www.sealy.com.my/guarantee-and-warranty/

The undisputed market leaders are the 3S...Sealy, Serta, Simmons. If you're spending big money, I don't see why you should choose anything else for innerspring mattress.

how much is consider 'big money'?

Depends on who is paying. But upwards of RM5k. During fairs and promos, certain models from the 3S can be had around that.

So for my own blunder and forgotten the price i was offered at Mid Valley, I paid extra RM890 for Queen today.....sigh.
Also Serta shop told me that Serta just bought over "Domus Vita" bed range (http://www.domusvitadesign.com). I check internet and couldn't find this news.
*
That's what we call house brand. Have absolutely nothing to do with Serta.

Wont consider Serta brand, as i never heard of it before.
For Getha, i cant find harmony Series in Getha website, are u refering to Transforme Series?
Transforme Harmony FIRM FEEL? What is the best price we can get?
*
rclxms.gif

Like a person in the middle of Amazon buying smartphone and he has never heard of Apple, only Samsung, cause Apple is uncommon there due to the expensive price. LOL. (And yes, parts of Amazon rainforest in Brazil got mobile coverage since end 2012)

Serta is the largest mattress brand in USA, and it is also used extensively by Hilton. It is also the sister company to Simmons.

They are the BMW and Mercedes of the mattress world.
