I like what the auditor say..

"First think you need to know about bad mattress reviews is that they can be found everywhere. And that is because only people who are not satisfied write them, 95% people who love their mattress do not have a need to write a review online. "

Do input some review for us? biggrin.gif

Reviews are mostly being paid by certain parties to bring up the sales of their products, and that's how marketing works. Very seldom you can find un-biased reviews. You will learn this when you play around expensive gadgets. biggrin.gif

Reliability on particular mattress is subject to your own usage. The best is, try out the mattress yourself more than you listen to others. What they experience, could be different than yours. wink.gif

Normally, I will hop from one brand to another (if the current one not in good condition) and this will make you a more experienced user. thumbup.gif

A pillow-soft mattress is a mattress with extra cushioning that makes it feel as soft and comfortable as a pillow. Mattresses with this extra padding are known as pillow-tops. A plush pillow-top mattress is a regular mattress with extra cushioning sewn to the top of the mattress for luxurious comfort.

A pillow-top mattress cannot be turned, which is an advantage for elderly and physically challenged people. Some consumers say pillow top mattresses ease pain and pressure points as they cushion the body.

The cushioning on a pillow-top mattress may compress and flatten more quickly than the rest of the mattress. It will be more difficult and expensive to replace this because it is attached to the mattress. However, it is possible to buy mattresses that come with a detachable pillow-top.

A mattress topper can give you that plush pillow-top feel without investing in a new mattress. Mattress toppers are also known as pillow-tops. The latter are separate toppers placed on top of an underlying mattress and usually made of memory foam, latex or polyurethane. They have varying firmness levels. Toppers are a good option if your underlying mattress is firm, as you'll have the support of the underlying mattress combined with the comfort of extra cushioning.
Generally, this option only works well for those who have a mattress that is not currently sagging. Usually, this option is best when the mattress is found too hard or not comfortable enough.

Spring mattresses

• Open Coil Springs

This is the most widely used type of material in the mattresses. Each spring in the mattress is connected together with a firm wire to form the spring unit. The steel used in the springs will be tempered to ensure recovery and a long lifespan. Generally it is cheaper than the other options and comes in a variety of tension options.

• Continuous Coil Springs

Continuous coil springs works as an inter-linked system, made from one long piece of wire, which allows all the springs to work in unison. This continuous spring wire runs from top to bottom of the mattress, which distributes the weight of the body through the springs across the entire sleep surface. The high spring count makes them responsive to individual body shapes and support requirements, which makes them more comfortable.

• Pocket Spring

This is the popular type in the spring mattresses. Pocket spring mattress is made up of small springs placed in individual fabric pockets. The pockets are connected together to form the bigger spring unit, which allows the mattress to fully support the body and totally adopt the bodyline, giving a better support from head to toe. This spring system is considered to be the best of the category. One possible disadvantage of this type of spring system is that it is expensive.Pocket Spring mattresses contain thousands of individual springs that are completely independent from one another. When you lay on the mattress each spring responds individually to the contours of your body.Pocket Springs are also ideal if you & your partner are different sizes as the springs protect against “roll together”. As pocket springs provide exceptional support, they are also effective if you or your partner are a little on the heavy side.

Non-Spring Mattresses

• Natural Latex

Natural Latex is a hypoallergenic and anti-microbial material, which is particularly helpful for people who have respiratory problems. Latex also moulds perfectly to the body giving greater comfort, and good neck and back support. Water based latex is a good material available in the category. Natural Latex is derived from the sap of rubber trees and also it is known for its distinguishing elastic properties and durability.

• Memory Foam/Visco Elastic

This is the most popular mattress. Originally developed by NASA, visco elastic contains millions of microscopic memory pockets, which slowly react to body heat and weight allowing the body to partially immerse, whilst moulding to the body. The result is optimum support and pressure relief. Visco elastic mattress gives relief for pressure points and respite for backache, painful joints and circulatory problems. When you get up, it returns to its original shape, hence the name. An added bonus is that you’ll never have to turn the mattress.

For mattress lovers, i have some information about mattress purchasing..

I already checked around 15 furniture galleries around klang valley and came out with better price offering shops around puchong.

I was looking for 2 brand, which is

Silentnight Impress Memory foam + High density viso elastic foam (no spring)
King Koil Spinal Guard Pocket Spring + pillow top + memory foam..

Below is starting price, just mattress... most of the shops reducing 100 or 200 only
Impress.... RM2200 free 2 polyster pillows
Spinal Guard.. RM2400 free mattress protector + 2 polyster pillow

After many surveys on price checking + free gifts, i managed find the lowest at puchong...

Impress... RM1700, (2 free pillows, synthetic latex and polyster pillow)
Spinal Guard... RM1880, (2 free polyster pillows + mattress protector)

Divan is our choice, can go cheaper or medium price range...

Silent Night Impress mattress + divan - 1750 + 600 = 2350
KingKoil Spinal Guard + divan - 1880 + 600 = 2440

first i was in the idea of getting harder mattress and buy separate memoryfoam toppers add on mattress for comfort , u know what i have checked the price the medium good toppers already cost around 500-600 bucks, so i believe buying mattress which is already with toppers is good idea coming with warranty. If sagging can go for warranty. Of course those attached toppers must be good quality.

Some in this forum said walk-in to factory can get even cheaper but not, i went to Masterfoam Industries at Kg Baru Subang... manufacture for mastercoil and silentnight...they do have showroom, but the lowest price they can offer for impress is RM2000...

I talked to sales lady why outside can offer cheaper than factory, outside shops buying bulk from them of course the price lower, and they willing to sell cheaper to customer, where factory cant offer same price to walk-in customer... absolutely logic...Don`t waste your time visiting factories..but of-course you can test all their series...so i had chance to feel it..Where certain outside shops, they don't display some series but can order from factory for customers...

So now all depends on what we going to choose either visco elastic foam or pocket spring...Both worth it,
got 10-12 years warranty, sagging warranty, turn free, anti dustmite, chiropractic spine support, comport zone...

Added on March 16, 2011, 12:54 pmI believe all my informations is helpful for you guys, at least bit understanding about the technologies on current mattress at market... its not like last time we sleep on any type of surface...
we dont really care what the mattress capable of, but now due to health concern we have to chose correct one...Studies says for back support we should not go for too hard or soft surface, we should go for medium firm mattress.. so investing bit higher is not waste at all, after all the mattress taking care of our health plus giving good sleep..

They design furnitures so can able to get any mattress u looking for cheaper price. Just survey the best price of your favorite mattress than go there bargain the price.

Like i went a shop at selayang, he offered 1800 but only have last stock display set, still can lie to me no production.
I went puchong perdana furniture, told them i can get 1800.. she agreed to offer same price but their divan very limited...
Later i went to westhome design, the best they can offer 1700 plus they design divan you choose from catalog...
Most of the mattress shops i surveyed never offer such price even though mattress is their main business.

*Make sure u already tested the mattress u looking for because WESTHOME might not display the mattress you need, since their main business is furniture designing.

thumbup.gif GOOD LUCK FRIENDS.

Latex is same function as memory foam..just latex is cooler than memory foam, i mean pure latex. Its expensive also and firmer, some mattress using latex as toppers.

I have tested DUNLOPHILLO pocketed spring with latex toppers, i feel its hard for my body, maybe its suit for 80kg above.

I tested NAPURE SOHO, full latex and toppers with coolmax technology where feel cool when lie on it... but nearly RM3200.

If u prefer latex you can go for NATURATEX, nice feeling around 1800k i guess tested at Oldklangroad furniture.

Latex and memory foam is anti dustmite, because of the chemical inside, even the memory foam density is different for certain mattress, some u feel soft and hard, because of the density level...
comfort zone can be any toppers like memory foam/latex/pillow top and extra... the below layer if its nonspring its using high density foam, which is polyurethane foam very hard, meant to support body weight and also the durability is higher.. dont think non pocketspring mattress the whole mattress is memory foam or latex... if it is freaking expensive...

The memoryfoam i stated is not 100% memory foam, i have tested 100% memory foam top to bottom, around RM23,000.... i lie straight on it get sink base on my body pressure, i really struggled to turn right and left... i kneed on mattress i get sink too, terrible.. thts what meant for astronauts

Kingkoil memoryfoam toppers and impress memoryfoam toppers both different density, kingkoil softer than impress...

Another thing u must take consider, all mattress after 1 or 2 month usage become bit softer because 10% of the wind come out of mattress, i personally found it...I tested Regatta mattress at puchong found harder..i tested at subang its softer.... its because of our body impression and some think its already sagging and wanted to claim warranty and companies rejects that...

i have tested silentnight extreme firm series, which felt comfortable.. medium firm.. the lady told me its already out of 10% wind...when first arrived felt like sleeping on hard rock surface coconut series.

So think wise before you choose, choose base on ur body size.. if simply choose than waste of money... so i believe u already have knowledge now. thumbup.gif

Thanks for the info...

How to determine is pure latex? So far i heard the salesman talking rebound latex.

During our hunting, i tried Silentnight as well, we found the Solace series is comfort too, but it quite expensive, quote me rm3200, but when i visit another shop, the boss said Solace had discontinued, replace with Regatta you mentioned above, which cheaper price too, below rm2000. We haven't tried Regatta yet, as most of the shop don't have display unit for this. Plan to visit Masterfoam to try it out.

We also visited MFO, the display unit of Englander also not bad feeling, but quote me around rm2690. sad.gif

Its really a dilemma to choosing the right mattress. We will try out the mattress you mention also, Impress & Spinal.

Rebound latex is not pure bro, as i said pure latex comes with certificate they mentioned so ofcourse price higher...

Regatta softer and cheaper than impress, you try impress u will get impressed..

Another thing most of the mattress dealers lack of knowledge giving wrong info, they just pushing stocks talking big about their current product...we will get confused with their explanation end up choosing wrong one later pain in the ass...

1st- think of ur budget.
2nd- test all brands based on that budget.
3rd- check those whether full filling your requirements like body support, comfort, durabilty, technology, warranty and extra
4th- chose the brand you want.
5th- compare the price and bargain.

like me first just sticked to KINGKOIL and SILENTNIGHT... so surveyed on that, later when i tested NAPURE and SPRING AIR my mind changed but i ignored both since far from my budget...

Another thing if you see at Silentnight Factory Showroom, some series not for outside selling, export series.. only can buy there, they have around 20 mattress for testing..cheap to high price,Of course all mattress feel cool once expose to air-con , hehehe..
Can buy directly over there but just no much discounts, sigh.

Impress their price is 2400, after discount 2000..
Regatta 2200 i think, after discount 1800...

Outside dealers nearly 700 lesser with ori price , for that you can order DIVAN for mattress already.

I tried a SERTA 2" latex topping spring mattress. Quite comfortable with it, and price is 2.3k with divan. I think that's sort of "beginner" level of mattress for that brand because other SERTA series is 4k and above.

Any comments on SERTA?

I don't even dare to step inside the GETHA store because of their pricing... SERTA is from USA, it's among one of the popular brand use by hotels.
Bliss is what i really dunno... sry... biggrin.gif

But I'm now considering Ther A Pedic Posture Master and SERTA. Both with 2" latex padding at top. Posture master with pocket spring and addition 1" latex padding on the other side, so if wanna get harder feel, can just switch to the 1" side. SERTA normal spring. hmm.gif

FEIZAI..

BRO Most of the mattress shops r in aircon, so you test any kind of materials also feel cool.. so hard to determine
Never buy based on your test on mattress that covered with plastic,go for those barely open easy to feel.even my room non aircon, so i wont know mattress im looking for suits or not.. based on the top materials..i heard if its damask, more warm.. so now manufacturer replacing to something else..natural latex cooler than synthetic..

Bro.. Getting cool bed sheets also good idea, if its soft and breathable you have good cool sleep...
100% cotton more soft and breathable..if buying bed sheets must look for higher TC(threadcount)..
The higher TC cost more money and softness+durablity+smoothness increase as well..
Go for atleast 250-300 TC or above if you afford..
Some blend fabrics like cottonpolyster is cheaper, its less wrinkle and polyster warmer/nonbreathable...
Imagine your bedsheet full polyster, your sleep is nightmare..

Natural fabrics are cotton/silk/linen/wool
Synthetic fabrics are nylon/polyster
Egyptians /supima/pima are well known cottons...

Another thing, make sure measure your mattress well before getting bed sheets... length width depth

standard bedsheet measurement for queen size 5ft mattress is
60" (width) x 80" (length) x 21" (depth/drop)
152cm x 203cm x 53cm

so if ur Queen size mattress is 152cm x 190cm x depth (must measure with ur toppers) definitely will fit the standard queen size of bed sheet.. the drops long enough to fold underneath of mattress.Impress and Spinalguard depth is 10-13inch only.

You can try silentnight mattress all series at factory showroom at this address
Masterfoam industries
Lot196, Jalan TUDM KG BARU SUBANG, SHAHALAM
TEL 60378473288

Kingkoil Spinal Guard, i tried at Furniture shop Casebella Italia at PJ, next to JAYA ONE building, infront traffic light
Expensive there, when i checked it was 2300, after that week increased i heard.
Boleh la bro testing purpose can go there, hehehe thumbup.gif
