No dutiable/taxable for under RM500 import item is not consistent among Customs officer. It's depend on their consideration actually. Maybe for personal/individual is applicable....but not if the item is under company name.

So for low-quantity items (like 1-2) worth less than RM500 to individual names are tax free? rclxms.gif

hi guys.

1. i bought 3 pieces camp cap last month (01/04/2014). it was 'buy 1 and free one' promo. so it is 6 in total for $70GBP. they have shipped out the package and should arrived at the end of April in Kuala Lumpur. but until now i didn't received any package / phone call from post Malaysia or custom. how to track my stuff as it is a regular postage which not provide a tracking number. i only have a postage reference number (not tracking) provide by seller. i have sent an email to post malaysia customer service and called them but no feedback from them yet.

2. i bought a books along with other item in one invoice with different shipment. (shipment 1 = other ; Shipment 2 : the book) i received everything except the book itself. doh.gif block by custom? this book - http://gomedia.us/our-work/print/threads-not-dead-book/

i need advice: -
1. do i need to go to Post Malaysia or Custom?
2. who/where (headquarters and department) should i go and meet up?
3. got tax for 6 pieces of five panel camp cap?

thanks in advance.

If I'm buying a leather shoes from Amazon, will it be tax?

Previously bought clothes from Abercrombie & Fitch, got tax even the total is just RM 300. It was shipped by FedEx and I realize the MY tax receipt is on the same day it shipped from US.

Maybe your courier company(FEDEX) do customs pre-clearance as to smooth the shipping time.

Yes, if they checked & found it in your luggage. Normally 2 units still consider personal use & tax-free but more than that will be taxed...

Btw, does the custom tax has a separate table for commercial/business import?
or are they all the same between private/personal and business, as well as Air or Sea route?

How much is the tax for large qty of engine oil/lubricant and filters for car?

Does the engine oil requires import approval/permit?

Thanks!

There is no separate table. As I said before, under RM500 shipment, duty/tax exemption is dependable on individually Customs consideration... Air/Sea/Land inbound still apply to same Tariff Code.
Engine/Lubricating oil is fall under Tariff Code 2710.20 6xx which carry 5% sales tax & no need any permit.
Filter is under 8708.99 990 which carry 30% import duty & 10% sales tax.

Hope that help.

Actually it's taxed based on declared price by sender right?

What if the sender is your friend and he declare super low price?
