Hey guys, need some help, I'm buying some floorball sticks (similar to hockey sticks but it's made of plastic and carbon fibre) from Europe. Total value + shipping is about EURO 160 = rm816 . What would be my tax on this? just 6% or way more? Thanks!

Hi, I want to buy action figure from Amazon that cost $340. I used shop and ship to send the item to malaysia since the seller did not provide delivery to Malaysia. The shipping cost estimate maybe around RM200+.

Does anyone know how much the tax will be kmposed for this item. Appreciate your kind help.

Hey, I would like to know if I were to buy a drum throne (chair for drumming) from Amazon priced around RM 300 with free shipping, what kind of procedure do I need to go through? I've read a little from this forum and I believe I dont have to pay any GST or duty as the value is below RM 500. Will the item be sent all the way to my address or do I need to collect it from the airport myself?

Hi Guys,
I'm confused about when I get Taxed and how much for importing stuff. I plan to ship RM 510 Worth Retro handheld video games from Japan And international shipping is about RM 45. My item is around 2 kg, will be using SAL (Japan cost economy airmail) to ship it here (I'm buying with Buyee) The package is labled as personal effects, but can change to electronics/toys. I live in Rawang area btw

Will I get taxed ? Is Import tax calculated by the Value of the item itself or also include the International shipping cost ? How much is the tax and gst 6 % will apply ?

I called pos malaysia just now and they say I won't be taxed for anything, not even gst because my item is less than 2 kg. If over 60 kg Then they only tax. Which is very strange as people in the group say sure kena tax or at least 6% GST If item value is over RM 500 confused.gif

This is confusing me as well.. Page one says which is taxable or not but it does not say if it only reaches a certain amount or not... does it mean if it's taxable regardless of the cost you will get taxed

As far as taxable amount is concerned.. the taxable amount includes both price of the product + shipping.. From what I understand and heard (combined) you will only get taxed if the total combined amount for the product + shipping exceeds RM500 so not sure

Usually by SAL, the chances of getting taxed is much lower than using shipping method like DHL or FedEx.
And I'll stick with declaring it as personal item since it's retro, presumably used video games.
It'll probably end up at your door step, at most with a kastam stamping on it.

In the event if you get taxed with GST, it will be calculated as per below:
(declared value + kastam defined shipping fee) * 6%

The kastam defined shipping fee is not what you paid for shipping. It will be calculated by them and the amount is gonna be ridiculous. There's no way around it other than avoid DHL or FedEx.

Thanks for the reply evilhomura89,really appreciate it ! Oh so does that mean I don't have to worry that much haha. I'll claim it as personal item. What about if I use AIR (Registered Small Package) It Arrives in about half the time, and what happens when there is kastam stamping ? Do I get taxed,if so how much ? Sorry for all the questions cause I'm a newbie to this and the confusing conversation I had with pos malaysia isn't helping at all doh.gif

If you use registered small package, it should be handled by Pos Malaysia once it arrives in Malaysia. Chances of getting tahan by kastam quite low as well.
Usually when there's a kastam stamping, it means they have checked your parcel, either by opening it or by scanning it through x-ray.

If you get taxed (my only experience is with DHL), they will pay the taxes on your behalf, then they'll call you to prepare money to pay them upon delivery/self collection. The amount (assuming normal GST only) is 6% of the declared value plus custom-specified shipping fees.

This was what happened to me - https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f...post&p=85540961
