Pandan leaf?you mean we can plant this pandan tree in the cage or just the leaf??
rclxms.gif i'm still new in handling GP, hope you all can help rclxms.gif

maybe i can plant the pandan for my new cage thumbup.gif

You can feed Pandan Leaf.

I put my GPs inside my garden for a short while, they chewed up all my Pandan Leaf until botak. Definitely you can't grow inside the cage, it will never get any opportunity to grow at all. biggrin.gif

i have read the 1st page quite a bit but not seemed to pick up much differences in terms of caring a rabbit vs a guinea pig......... for example, both physically look diff of coz, but other than dat, nails gotta b clipped, gotta groom them, feed them pellets n hay, herbivous n give them vit c....

can any experienced owner here shed some light?
*
I kept rabbit before. The key differences are:-

Rabbit does not required high vitamin C at all time. GP does.
Male rabbit bites - 90% GP doesn't.

is anybody feed this to gp ???
i bought this from pets safari, and i wonder which 1 will be better for gp if compare with hagen pellets
shocking.gif

LIMIE feed this brand, if I'm not mistaken.

This brand is quite expensive as compared to Hagen. But I don't know why it doesn't have the green freshness smell like Hagen pellets have.

Last time I wanted to buy this brand when I read the marketing text on the net. Sound very good and nutritious. After I had seen the real pellets, I'm not convinced it is any better than Hagen pellets with its higher price.

my gf told me her 2 GP fight wor by biting each other dunno what is wrong.so she separated them atm.We bought them the same time and same batch and it been 2 weeks already after they have been together without separation before.so any ideas what we can do about it?
*
Since you mentioned that they are a pair, most likely the female doesn't want the male one to hump (rape) her, so fight lor....

I have seen that happen in my own GPs, as long as they are not fight till bleeding , just let them be, eventually the male one have to respect the female's decision not to have sex lor....

Today just bath my GPs. Trimmed their nails and teeth.

I think my female Peruvian is possibly pregnant. Hopefully this time is true...it is so difficult to get my Peruvian babies, no wonder in the market is so few. Here is her picture, now her fur quite long already. The male is also same color marking like her. Oooo....Keeping my figure cross, hopefully I could succeed in breeding my Peruvian.

tongue.gif My GPs always fat fat, so pretty hard to determine whether they are pregnant or not, until the due date is close only could see more obvious.

Juztiny: that solution which i get from you not really effective for my gp.
become more now... should i wash it per 2 days???
*
You mean the fleas & lice? Yup, you could bath it more frequent, but the most important is to massage it for at least 10min then only rinse off.

Remember to wash your cages too.

No worries on that. Last time I applied on my GP's skin where it has harden skin and massaged it till the harden skin comes off. My GP also screamed in pain...but few days later that skin grew back fur liao.

Added on February 16, 2009, 11:40 pmToday my female Peruvian which I suspect is pregnant had miscarriage though. The baby born out under developed, only 3" long without fur and eyes formed yet. Only one baby....sigh...

SugarCoatedCandy, yeah....expensive also need to buy....and i'm having the big cage also...consume quite a lots every month.... cry.gif actually i was decided to get a big wired cage for them de at least no need to spend so much on the bedding...but my hubby insist want to buy zoozone2 coz he think this is more safely for them. No choice lah, always the person who make the payment have to rights to make the final decision since both of us also want our pigs stay health and happy.

Update some photos when i cleaning their cage today....they seems so boring in the temporary wired cage while waiting for me.... tongue.gif

Jasper's body colour now very nice, I thought last time it was brown and white too? hmm.gif I meant more white fur.

My another pregnant Abby GP is about to deliver her 1st time babies soon (most likely these few days). The babies colour should be nice, because parents are my favourite colours. (SOW is agouti and cream, and father is cream colour).

I think its tummy have about 3 babies, because the SOW tummy is really big, when I feel her tummy, can feel the babies moving ler...like popcorning inside.

Emino,

Careful with this cage base, my adult GP's foot got stuck into the hole before. Better put a layer of plastic netting.

Yesterday I bought a pkt of timothy hay-ball for my GPs, since many shops do not have timothy hay stocks. Only found 1 shop has timothy hay-ball. So I bought it.

Today open the packet and feed them. All my GPs don't like the hayball at all....waste my money... flex.gif

How do you trim the GP teeth? Is it a must for trimming? I still haven't trim their teeth, just trimming the nails.
*
I checked their teeth every 4-6 months, just to make sure their teeth not overgrown. I can't really tell you how over here, as it requires skill to do that. I used the nail clipper for small dog type, just snap the teeth, must be fast and accurate. Another hand hold its upper jaw. Also need to avoid its tongue. Not advisable for beginner to follow me.... sweat.gif

i have a really sad story to share...

my gf guinea pig just die 3 hours ago..very sad...its day because of my gf careless..the gp named torres..i gave to her as a present....2 days ago..torres already ill coz my gf put him beside window..when she is not at her room..its start raining heavily and put torres in the rain..but yesterday it comeback active...hepy like usually..

but..this afternoon..my gf gave him a shower..i already told him gp not suppose to take shower everyweek..mayb once a month..but she never listen...last week he shower the gp..and then this evening she shower again..and mayb bacause torres is just comback to healt after ill coz of the rain..he start to really get sick this evening...he cant move at all..at that time..and not near my gf..im at shah alam..he call me that torres is sick..she dont know what to do...and then she said what to take to vet..i said ok..but then when i came back..she said he just bring torres to a local pet shop..the pet shop owner gave torres a medicine...so i wait her to cameback..but when he come back and see ...he said torres is sleeping after drink the suppliment..but when i hold torres..i said..torres is already die...and she start to crying like her dad past away..she blame her self...i cant stop my self to cry because torres is really good pet..i rotate to take care of torres during his lifetime...after that...we go to the garden that we alwiz bring torres to play...and buried him there..10.30pm just now..really sad.my gf cant stop crying and blame herself..but i found that torres died not because of the illness...my gf said torres cought a lot after take the suppliment and seems cant breath..after that i realize..torres die because he cant breath coz the pet shop owner force him to take the suppliment with a "picagari"...
really like want to burn the local pet shop...very sad... sad.gif  cry.gif

torres...rest in peace...!gonna miss the sound that u make begging for a food averytime i open the room door..
*
Sorry for your loss of Torres.

Sigh...usually when GP is sick or unwell...it's condition will deteriorate very fast within 12 hours. But my best guess is it must be something the petshop fed that caused its death.

Here are some pictures of my GP babies...today a monkey came into my house, it wanted to open up my GP cage....so scared that it will harm my GPs. My dogs are scared of the monkey, as it is as big size as them. And the monkey is not afraid of my dogs at all.
