My GPs' cages are situated outdoor near my side garden. The monkey came into my house compound sat down there starring at my dogs, the most funny part is the monkey sat on the motorbike and look into the mirror on itself. This monkey came searching for food to eat.

Monkey wants to eat thier pellets, I think. My opposite neighbour complained that his fishes in pond gone missing...not sure is it monkey ate them or cat ate them...

But I saw monkey ate my dog's poo.... laugh.gif rclxub.gif first time see that...I think the monkey is super hungry...

what is the yellow cloth u use when bathing gp called?
i try to buy 1 from pet store but all they have just like normal towel sad.gif

I can't remember the brand, but it is high absorbent pet towel. Cost around RM36 each. I'm sure you can get it from SS2 seapark petshop (near Poh Kong Jewelry shop), as that shop sell a lot of pet grooming stuff.

I bought my Hagen 5lb pellets between Rm15-16.50 in Cheras area.

I think Kaytee is quite good too..as I noticed those GPs were fed on Kaytee brand, their furs are much more softer texture and thicker in coat as compared to mine which were fed on Hagen.

I'm going to try on Kaytee and see whether my GPs coat do have any difference to confirm my findings.

hey everyone. i'm new here. gf got me a guinea pig for about 3 weeks... recently found got some problem with it... as it din wan to move.. then i notice it's left front leg got problem.. and worse the back 2 legs like no strength to move.. took it to the vet. got an X-ray and she got a fracture on her front left leg. aihh... and worse still vet told me she got vitamin C deficiency. arghh checked her fur and she got lices... and her nose got slight skin problem... anyone's guinea pig recovered from vitamin c deficiency and/or fractured leg? got any tips or special advices on how to nurse them?

i gona boycott PETS WONDERLAND coz this pet shop sells pets which is not healthy.. last time she got me a pair of hamsters... 1 died nx day and another got bad tumor infection.... i took care of it till it passed away. now this happen again. told my gf to boycott that pet store already.

vet cost me rm 137... and have to take my GP back daily for vitamin C jab which is rm 10 each. really hope she can recover. The only thing that makes me a bit ok is her appetite she still eats a lot and drink a lot of water.

The fracture legs could be due to your cage base, is your cage base wired type? Did you put a layer of bathroom mat? Could you show us how is your cage base looks like?

Since Shinbo already brought his GP to see a vet, not sure the vet already treated the fracture leg or not.

I experienced once was the leg was stucked in the base gap, and the GP struggle so much till it broke its own leg (near ankle part). I wrapped it with the bandage just people treat fracture or broken arm type with a match stick. Then feed lots of alfafa hay......one week later the GP move just like normal. A little bit limping but not very noticeable.

my GP just passed away... about 20 mins ago... =(( gave her a nice burial at my garden.. sigh. RIP Ah Pig.  cry.gif  anyway it would be a good thing she died peacefully itself rather than have to go trough all the painful treatments or fractured leg pain and suffer.  oh wells...

Sorry for your loss. May your GP RIP.

Added on March 17, 2009, 8:39 amAny other sign of pregnant, instead of physically big belly?
*
If the pregnant SOW tummy is big, you could feel the babies inside her tummy especially after one month of conceiving. Since the last time you put your GP at my place was Jan 27, if your SOW are pregnant now, then calculating its due date should be March 27. By right now you should be able to feel the babies inside her tummy. If you can't really feel it, then wait for 10 more days and see whether she delivers any babies.

i gave her kangkong and sawi only. thats her fav. i think i need to get the kacang for her. not much choice of food offered at my place here. even the hay doesnt look 'fresh'....
*
Don't give her too much kangkong...you fed her kacang? (long beans? or French beans?)

You can feed her apple, carrot, guava, pandan leaf, corn leaf if you can't get guinea pig pellet.

Gee.. by the time he start to have wet poo, i always too late in it owh! cry.gif  and my vet here is not so good also.. i tot my Lisa having diarhea, and the doc gave her 3 type of medicine. (at that time, i dont know she gave birth cos her child is hiding somewhere. i pick the mother and bring her indoors.Even the vet not to bother to check her properly  sweat.gif ).

Then again, i think her poo a bit wet cause she gave birth ler...she still eat normally .. only her poo is a bit soft cos eat too much vege..hahaha...

back to diarhea, got other reasons beside that? i bought all the vege from fresh market, i washed before feed them. could posible unboiled water cause diarhea? but my GP doesnt seem to touch the bottle water duh  sweat.gif  the water level always remain the same...............
*
Did you keep your GP outside in grass compound area all the time? Did she eat the grass?

I gave my sister two 3 months old healthy GP last time, she always put them in grass compound roaming freely for at least 8-10 hours a day. Her GPs keep losing weight, I brought them back when I saw the GPs already losing so much weight, but too late to save them, they eventually died after 2 weeks in my care. So I suspect that sometimes the grass may not 100% safe for our GP to consume, it may contain pesticides. I asked vet before what makes the GP diarrhea, the vet said most likely is intestine infection due to the food it consume.

oh so much good advise!! thank you very muchh!! yeah.. mebe i shud do that next time.. slowly change the food. and true also cos my Mocha (2nd abys-the male) resist to eat anything i gave him on the first day. He's not used to kangkung or all kind of vege. but he does eat some bengy's pallet. i guess nex time when i have a new GP, i'll slowly change his/her food.

from now on i'll try using the recommended diet. as for hay, i still unable to provide, so maybe 50% vege 50% pallet could do? at least better than 100% vege right? I'll buy the hay by online soon. I just got back from the pet shop and ergh they dont sell any good foods. I try Jolly brand (import from HK. i have 3 choice only, local pallet-bengy, thai pellet-bunny or HK-jolly) sweat.gif

I just fed her with the pellet.. she seems to like it smile.gif. i'll take the Jolly's pellet and treat later n post it up here.

Issit ok if the GP doesnt drink water? Or maybe because the vege is already wet, maybe thats why she doesnt need water sweat.gif
i think by giving pellet(dry food) could be possibly she'll drink the water later... nod.gif

i read a lot of the info in the net but i dont think its enough cos i need to 'talk' it out and hear opinions. especially its hard to see the good advice how to treat diarhea or what to do when the mother gave birth etc...

my local vet say our GP is not the same like mat salleh GP. their GP is more tougher and longer life span due to the weather and climate..true ka or the vet cincai said like that? she said my GP (Lisa) is already old enough  sweat.gif . i tot GP can like up to 5-6years?
*
GP can live up to 7 years if you take good care of it. I have 4 GPs are 3 years old already. Still going strong.. weight 1.2kg each. Stout like a rabbit.

is that wil coz diarhea(dunno how to spell =_=) like iceberg lettuce?

I'm not saying cannot feed kangkong. Take care not to overfeed these fresh foods. They contain lot of moisture and too much can cause stomach upset.

Lisa's baby doesnt look fine since last night. I wonder whats wrong. The Baby's didnt eat anything... lost appetite since last night, refuse to drink milk or move much................ cry.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif
*
Well...since your Lisa is having diarrhea problem, and the baby is drinking her milk, sure will not be that healthy. But without giving baby drinking its mother's milk also not healthy...there is no better solution too..

Unless you could find small animal milk supplement to feed the baby twice a day and separate it from its mother, and feed it with good quality hay. May be it could survive through. I think this suggestion came too late to you, as usually the GP show sign of unwell...within a day it would be gone.

feonfeon u should bring the babys to the vet..i think it's best...

Honestly speaking bringing it to vet will not perform miracle...as this baby is too young to consume the right medicine dosage. Perhaps it may even died instantly after the medicine.

how is the poo actually looked like when gp is having diarhea..
my gps poo kinda soft.. like chocolate powder.. not as solid and greenish dark like normal poo.. is tat diarhea?? inform me..
*
Like chocolate powder? Could it be they stepped on the poo? I think still normal. Unless the poo really stinky smell, and watery sticky on the base of the cage.
