yayayaya!!! it's the philipino trainer from wow-wow@meow-meow, his name sound to be mail....... But i would like to state here that his scope of work at wow-wow@meow-meow is just as a skin specialist /dentist / trainer. Grooming and boarding are his freelance.... So u all can find him to talk privately for other services (can tell him that u were introduced by vava's mummy, surely got special discount)......kekeke wink.gif

actually puppy should at least take 2 meals to 4meals. below 6mth old better feed 3-4meals.

Added on November 17, 2008, 8:31 pmi consulted vet b4, under feeding puppy their bone structure will not be healthy. and also their stomach will not be healthy as well. lotsa cons than pro. Do-reconsider if u were to control your puppy diet to make them stays small size.
*
ohh!!! actually i'd ask a lot of experience pet's keeper....cos at 1st i also feel like giving puppy eat only once a day is like torturing them...previously i gv vava eat 3 times per day until she's 4 months old (almost over weight)
so they told me suppose to gv them eat once or twice only per day....if over 2 meals is consider overfeed them unless they are sick or recovering from sickness then only u feed them 3 times per day (max. 3 times)....might not be healthy when they grow older....this is the infromation i gt.... tongue.gif

Sounds not right for me.. feeding oni once a day for puppy is torturing for me. This is the method ppl use to keep their dog in small size. But that doesn't means healthy size.

haha biggrin.gif i don't mind my vava to be bigger size as long as she's healthy but i was told healthy meals should be once or twice per day.so i got test her before whether she's hungry or not after having only 1 meal per day for bout 1 week, well.....she really dun feel hungry......and now her shape gt back from plumpy body to a nice shape (still under well-maintained).
i give vava eat dry food > Hill's Science Plan / Hill's Prescription Diet.

once or twice per day, i think that is for adult dog not puppy. puppy should feed at least twice a day.
how u test vava whether she hungry or not?she dun love food?or she dunlike her kibbles?

science plan is not a good dog food to me.

it depends on the food u feeding. check the label. those amount that suggested on label is per day. if u feed ur pup,3 meals then divide by 3 for each meal.

i frequent Wow2 Meow2 for kibbles. No doubt Dr.Mel specialises in dentistry, he oso involves himself in other areas such as helping dogs to mate; the last i went there, he helped a 'real' toy poodle to be hamsup-ed by a super big toy poodle. He said the female screamed coz of the male's size. LOL...
There was one occasion where i did not like his impolite behaviour. i was enquiring something at the counter. He just took Milo from my hubby, checked his ears n teeth. I did not know what was his intention.
Perhaps he was trying to find fault with milo's condition. He did say milo's fur was too long at the eyes, covered his eyes liao bla bla bla...but i would appreciate if he asked for my permission first before checking on milo.

joelle.huey,
Maybe u can try to get books specially written on poodles. They have very comprehensive guidelines on how much to feed them at different ages. Seriously, u shud never thot of feeding only once before they reached one year. Just like humans, after some time of not having supper, we wont feel like eating late at night dy. It's a matter of habit...not becoz we r not hungry.

which says
Your new puppy should eat 3-4 times a day until the age of 6 months and then at the age of 6 months you can reduce to 2 times a day. For the small breed puppies you may want to continue with the frequent small meals throughout the day to help prevent hypoglycemia.

This info is good for new owner.
