The water will cool down after putting in the stone right? So the final temperature of water should be 50-T because T<50.
As for the stone, its final temperature will increase so T-28 for T>28.
[T = final temperature]

Not water cool the stone. When they achieved thermal equilibrium, their temperature will be same right? Imagine you put ice into hot water, the ice melts and the water cool. Water cool down BECAUSE of ice.

Thermal equilibrium is the best word.the higher temp will reduce while the lower one will increase..
Q=tita...duno hw to type so mcQ=mcQ mc(50-T)=mc(T-28)
i didnt raed the question but i think is lik this...

QUOTE(Leto Kynes @ Nov 2 2008, 12:05 AM) oops haha vick can ask your add math teacher what we did wrong? Hmm...I tried substituting p = 4.8 into the equation. Somehow it's also correct. You will get 2.2630... = 2.2630... p = 8 is also correct: LHS = 3 and RHS = 3 too. Possibly both 4.8 and 8 are correct?

erm, the straight line you have to draw is actually, y=-3/2x-8 where -3/2 is m and -8 is the c follow the equation y=mx+c

QUOTE(skzisghost @ Nov 2 2008, 12:36 AM) Guys pls help me math question i know i should draw -8 at y axis but what about 3 over 2 x ??where should i draw i don understand this answer - - Nonono,it is not the way to do it.. you have to make a range box first like X=-2 and X=4 fill in the both x into the equation y=-8-3/2 x and find the y...then dot it and draw straight line loh.. Hard to explain here..

You can also just find two coordinates to draw a straight line. You know that when x = 0, y = -8. (0,-8) Now lets say when x = 2, y = ?. You should get -11. So, (2,-11). Draw a straight line connecting these two points and you're done. (A range box method is also suitable, as stated by ff8ong.)
