Anyone know where to buy cottage cheese? I am thinking of trying it out..

I was looking for it just now at cold storage in ikano. Found 1 which was around rm19. I was checking the nutrition facts and noticed it just provides 9g of protein per 100g of cheese if i am not mistaken. I wasnt sure whether that was the correct cottage cheese that is always being mentioned in this forum..

Anyone who has purchased it before, please specify from where u purchased it..

thanks

Cottage cheese is great! I used to eat it on its own (or with a little fruit) for breakfast.

cottage is great for prebed, there is even some site claims that it is better than casein, personally i think it got to mix wif oth source of protein... 30g of casein is really expensive.

Cottage cheese has 12g protein per 100g cheese which translate to 12%.
Whey protein is 80% to 90%. 1 tub of 500g is about 20 bucks. It is a waste of money buying cottage cheese as protein source unless you are staying in NZ where cheese is very cheap.

Whey protein nutrition value and amino acids profile are anytime better than cottage cheese.

but still, i believed i read somewhere that cottage cheese is digested slowly..
which u can advantage this whenever u are not able to get protein source for a period of time.
for example when you are sleeping hehe

Rubbish, whey protein improves kidney function. Whey protein is used in cancer treatment and other degenerative diseases therapy.
Whey protein enhances glutathione levels in the body. Glutathione is our body's primary antioxidant, detoxifier and anti aging agent.

I have been supplying whey proteins to doctors in natural therapy and complimentary therapy since 2001 and I have not encountered any health problems by the patients. I have been using whey protein for more than 10 years and I don't have any kidney problems associated with it. So are all my bodybuilder friends. Please do your own research instead of listening to crap stories.

Cottage cheese is casein. Casein clogs in your guts. Undigested casein will turn into toxins.
We don't need slow release of protein during sleep. The digestive system needs to rest when we are sleeping.
This is a holistic way of eating. Bodybuilding is not holistic.

its pretty damned hard to find cottage cheese in KL already. The last I saw it was in Ikano's Cold Storage, and its pretty pricey, RM19.90 for a 500gm tub, and if my memory serves me right, 100gm will give you only 12gm protein. Quite expensive, you're better off with other protein sources. But once in a while, i dont mind indulging. If only it was cheaper, I would take it more often.

I just went to Tesco Damansara last night and searched high and low couldnt find any cottage cheese. Nothing at Mydin either. I only saw one brand so far in KL, I can't seem to find anything else.

I can't believe our dairy companies eg, Dutch Lady and others', dont produce cottage cheese for malaysian consumption. If anyone does any research for cottage cheese suppliers and stumbles upon one, kindly list it out here. Thanks in advance.

Make your own substitute:

Get a lot of Sunglo unflavoured yohurt or buy thairu from Indian shop or make your own thick one from milk powder.
Other commercial brands seem to have thickeners and too watery.

Stir in teaspoon of salt. Pour into double layer of some thin cloth in a bowl. (Guess what "cheesecloth" is for?!?!) Tie and hang up, better if kept cool in fridge with bowl to catch liquid.

After most of liquid is drained out, cut into small pieces. You may have to experiment/check to see how firm you want it.

Don't leave in warm air many days so as to avoid moulding.

Have fun.

does it mean whey protein is suitable for the consumption by cancer patients without a doctor's prescription?
btw i'm just wondering as to why bodybuilders need to take whey protein

Me is from Penang, but last week I was at Plaza Damas at Sri Hartamas, an area full of expats.

I saw loads of cheese normally not found, even in Penang. You can check it out yourself.
