the frustrating part for me is astro only show EPL , boring league
*
lolz i can also say serie A is a boring league laugh.gif

anyway there must be a reason why astro supersport is in the sports package? it is 2 cater 4 the minorities like you who hate the constant EPL saga.

QUOTE(maxizanc @ Nov 6 2008, 12:05 PM)
Malaysia is good in mobile telecommunication.. Why? Because lots of competition everywhere. But internet? Astro? haih. I guess if only our internet connection is good, we will have IPTV then, no need to subscribe Astro anymore..
*
lolz! its more like mobile telecommunication needs less capital 2 open up compare with broadband and astro. you see how easy it is 4 the tauke 2 open U mobile. laugh.gif

The surprising thing is that it was ASTRO themselves that told me that! My decoder's power unit was fried (that's what they told me anyway) and they asked if I wanted to repair the unit or get a new decoder. I said might as well get a new one given mine is so old. They then told me that if I had the old one, I should keep it because it's better than the new one. What's the point of having a new one then ah? hmm.gif

Isn't the new one the one that comes with recording and playback functions? Dad told me it cost a bomb, so didn't even think of switching.

Maybe the hardware and the firmware inside is better?

But for example, they said the old bulky PS2 is better than the slim one. Maybe because the slimmer device, their life span is short? unsure.gif

I've heard that too. I have the old bulky PS2 and I must say, it does 'tahan lasak'! Still works perfectly fine with no servicing or repairs whatsoever.

Slimmer PS2 has heating issues. My fat one is still going strong after like what, seven years?

So the old saying of "bigger is better" still holds true? Sorry to go OT but it makes you wonder why they made handphones so small these days, you need a microscope to read messaged.

The newer decoder has actually been working better for me. The reception's better on the small decoder but it could be coincidence. My signal on the old decoder has always been in the mid sixties but now with the new one, it's in the seventies. And I could point at the decoder from further away with the newer decoder.

There are a bunch of them on sale in the Garage Sales section. Don't think many will want to part with their Playstations, even if it means it only being left to rust in a drawer. I've still got my PSX as well (believe it or not it's still working, tried playing the old Street Fighter Alpha 3 a week back) and I certainly won't be parting with any of my consoles. Sentimental value la brother. I spent a lot of my youth with it you know.

They are 3 generations of the ASTRO decoders.

The first one (older ASTRO decoders) were made by Philips.

Then ASTRO decoders were made by Nokia.

Both models above are alike, all black colour.

Latest one.. smaller decoder, grey black colour, is made by THOMPSON.

Reason on why older ones were better.. it's like that la in IT. Older computers were reliable and good, newer ones tend to be more cheaper in manufacturing and also they try to improve it's performance/specs and sacrifice the reliability aspect la.

I use to love Malaysia Liga Dunhill back in 80's and 90's. We use to have quality players and fantastic piece of game. But now that has turn into some horrible gameplays here..

All because of $$$$$$$
