izzit bcoz of the issue between amd and gainward??

4850 & 4870 share the same core but different memory.
4850 equip wit DDR5 is just an underclock 4870.
i can see y AMD is preventing dem from doing do.
although Gainward did it,it was expensive to b considered & the stock r very very limited.

My fan is also noisy at 50%. Try lower to 40%.
BTW, Anyone tried latest Catalyst 9.8 ? The fans cannot be set below 50% on 4850GS.
I revert back to 9.1.

My 4850GS fan already failing on me sometime ago, I enquired Scanart to buy a replacement fan, but then no response from god knows how long ago .

Newer batch 4850GS cannot go below 50%. It is due to the BIOS settings.

Sad to hear that gainward stop producing ati gc...
i have 1 4850 GS on hand and totally nvr bring me problem
i have try to compare with my fren 4850vapor-x
in game there are not big diff can c by eye...
but at benchmarking my fren's vapor-x cant beat me at all...

i am planning to get a 4890 or even 58 series GS...but no more now...sad...

Manufacturer "WARS" we will have less exposure, so better not to assume who is right and who is wrong between Gainward & AMD. Maybe got other manufacturer "jealous" at Gainward and "back stab" them @ AMD, who knows.... But for Gainward to stop produce ATI cards is a huge loss to consumer, I'm one of their supporter especially their Golden Sample series

Nah,didn't send it back to them. I sort of DIYed myself and fitted a bigger fan LOL.

Or I might end up having a GC-less PC for like 3 - 6 months? :S Too risky lol! Besides I don't know if noisy gc fan can be claimed or not =/ It has always been operating at 50%, so fast spoil already haiz.

Haha always can consider 3rd Party fan if got budget

But I like the stock 4850GS's heatsink actually. It is working fine to me. Anyways I'm running a 80mm (or is it 92mm) fan on it. Better performance .

Actually, I am using the the same batch as you. Nickel cooling pipes and around same time RMAed with you. I can set minimum 20% fan speed on CCC 9.1. After upgrade to new CCC 9.8 cannot set below 50% anymore.

Not quite sure, my fan is always on 50% :S. Right now using those case fan tied to it. Even better lol.

To all the Gainward ATI Fan, We are regretting to inform that Gainward are no longer doing ATI product due to they decided only concentrate with Nvidea product.
