if i am not mistaken i908 is China and Hong Kong version?
it should be no problem for use in Malaysia if it supports the bands used here

if u alwaz surfing net using 3G and make video call then
select Maxis3G..
else
just using Maxis will be enough..

by using 3G, ur device will keep searching 3G coverage wherever u go..
so it will cause u huge battery drainage..correct me if i'm wrong..smile.gif

Hi everyone,

An offer by the credit card company has just dropped in my mail for Samsung Omnia at the price of RM2699 over 12 instalments of RM240 each.

Now i have been using my Dopod 818 pro for over 2 yrs and i am looking for a replacement for it. In view of the Credit card promo, i am a seriously considering samsung omnia.

After reading GSM arena, my conclusion is that compared to similar phone of similar price e.g. Iphone, Iphone has the better inferface and useability whereas Omnia is better in terms of function. So my question is the price offered worth it? And would i miss iphone for its interface?

It is actually cool to have an omnia when the whole world has iphone...

let me knnow ya?

It is 16gb according to their website here http://www.hlb.com.my/pfs/promo/dec08/pri_...g.jsp?s=ccpromo.

Some one just opened another thread asking which of Xperia, Omnia or Iphone is better and the input is Xperia....What's the Omnia guru's take on it?

of course in an omnia thread......ppl will say omnia better rite....but its up to you...

The price by the credit card co is ok..but remember that your purchase, even if from a retailer can be opted a 24 month installment plan for some credit cards, so if u can get it cheaper elsewhere, u still can get the installment plan plus pay less!

Even looking at the new phones in the market, i think i would still prefer the omnia. This includes the new HTC Touch HD, the X1, as well as the I phone. The I phone is rubbish in my opinion other than being an icon of a fruit. But the others are valid options. Though i dont think you could get the spec sheet, the slim form factor and the 16GB internal storage all present in any of the options except the omnia. Each of the others have sacrificed one or the other.

It is still a thin, light, and good looking phone, with and endless feature list and a camera i just love!

Its completely finger operable, hence i dont use my stylus at all and the input modes are good.

Ha ha , that means I asked in the wrong thread?

Not really, cause i want to see how Omnia owners defend it. Choosing a new phone is such a headache sometimes.

BTW, where are these other retailers that has a 24 month installment plan? Can give specific examples besides telling me to look for ones with the installment plan stickers? Say like Carrefour?

Anyway any other input? the 16gb hard disk and nice form factors are really pulling factors. The only thing is the price....

yea, as i said, it depends on d coverage,
like your case, when u're hooked to 3G,
your signal depends on it,
calls and sms,
so that's y, when there's a network problem,
namely 3G, we'll advise customers to chanhe to
to gsm mode,

i myself actually really like iphone..
especially the way they set standard for user interface..i can see everything is well integrated..
bigger screen, capacitive screen, a lot of games also another good points..

but a few things hold me back to buy iphone at least for 1-2 years until they came with another better phone
1) at the moment they dont have real GPS.. I mean turn by turn navigation..
the only thing that u can use is Google Maps which will cost u data connection & don't support turn by turn feature
2) the camera is quite outdated, 2mp only..at least they should provide 3.2mp
3) although the interface is nice but sometime i need to have different theme for my device..
this is where windows mobile have a lot of apps where u can customize / tweaks according to ur need.
4) Iphone price in Malaysia is still expensive, RM3k+ unless u got opportunity to buy it from oversea or order it from ur friends
5) no office document editor especially excel which i normally use
6) no copy & Paste..simple feature that they still don't want to provide..

i still can accept if iphone cannot do MMS, video recording, battery not replaceable but not the above one..so I just wait until they fulfill my wish then only i go to iphone..smile.gif

but again it still depends on ur need actually,
tepuk dada tanya selera..

i really wanted the x1 before omnia came out. smile.gif

heard rumours sony and ericsson is splitting up. even got some new phone just under the sony brand ..... other reason why ppl actually avoid x1 is because it's also made by htc.. i have nothing against them smile.gif my o2 mini is made by them and it is still working after 4 years.

me... get what u want and ur pocket can afford... especially in the current economy... though u dont count if u make more than 10k per month tongue.gif

Omnia seems like a very attractive phone. But when it comes to the Samsung brand in handphones, I have my doubts.

Mainly because(just IMO) Samsung is not so popular in handphone markets and this could mean their phones are not good, I'm not sure of that.

So Omnia fans, is it possible for you to honestly tell me how well has Omnia served you all these while? As in the overall performance, like build quality, style, design, software(does it lag? button too small? not responsive?)I'm considering to buy either 5800, X1, HTC Touch Diamond, iPhone or Omnia...

Hope you guys are able to help me. =)

nickyb: if i read correctly u can use secany's leaked rom to downgrade. Official rom cannot. as it will detect the rom that is currently in ur phone. so just grab his HK1 or u can just get HK3....

If u read the modaco thread, those ppl have no problem downgrading and upgrading as they like.
HL2 promises new widgets, so sit tight smile.gif)

maximp: HSDPA is just another name for 3G

p/s: correct me if i'm wrong.

Thanks for fellow owners input. However, I am still not any closer to make a decision. In the end, I will forget about it and move on to the next desirable phone.

But then again, its nearly time to change my phone and it will be a phone for the next one or two years and Omnia seems to be the jack of all trade.

Can anyone comment on the price? I seen the web (lelong, mudah) that Omnia is going for around 2k to 2.2k depending on hard disk size. If 2.7k is reasonable for 16gb omnia from authorised dealer, than it would be an easier choice for me.
