Hai all? Noob here. Which subwoofer can play down to 17hz according to your experience. I prefer 8 inches and available in Malaysia. And also in sealed box.
My thot, it should be combine with the right amp, right hu, right box? And the diagfragm should be soft right? Or the Fs bla bla right? |

40Hz and below!! most cars will not be able to feel that sub-bass region.
Why? speakers energy translates to vibration on body panel and to heat!!.. even the sub-box is NOT heavy enough to produce that freq. Yes! its still possible to produce low sub-bass region. How? 1. Fully damp including roof (RM3K++above) 2. foam all the hollow pillars and etc.. (RM1K++above) 3. Lock down the sub enclosure' preferably with weight on it 4. Sub can play 33Hz below well.. large sub with vented enclosure(min 2.2cbft above) - 15" or 18" has much larger surface area. Hence able to push the air gently NOT violently like a 10" or 12". 8" only good for midrange.. (juz kidding) 5. use a min 10awg sub cable. Forget about that RM0.50 cents terminal cup. Its a disaster!!! 6. use HDF unstead of MDF. Much stronger and denser!! 7. Use wood glue + internal bracing for sub enclosure. Finish off with a 2" nail above into the panel. 8. Use a combo 25mm+19mm HDF on the front panel at least!! 9. Change alternator to 120amps above with extra 4awg power and grounding cable. 10. Rear deck cut a bigger ventilation hole + heavily damped it. Preferably 1/3 air can come into the cabin from the boot!! Have fun!! do all the above your car will be one of its kind. Not even a JLW7 or velodyne plug-and-play type(without doing any of the above) can compete with all the customization job above. Thats serious ICER!! who seeks the best NOT juz buy the best drivers Best drivers + well thought off customized job = very different from mass market cars *applicable not juz to sub but to all other hardware and components!! |

Lot of info. Not going for competition. Just want to play Hoods run down by Lil Whyte. Can't hear the 1st 25 sec bass. Anyway, Very good advice. here's a tip, screw down your box into the car chassis, u will feel the sub bass vibrationsi can confirm this coz thats how i built the box in my jazz during competition last time, it was only a single 12, but box was larger than recommended specs, and i passed the sub bass test with flying colours. we had an 18hz note at 1.09 of track 6 (planet krypton) where the chair supposed to vibrate and tickle your ass, lol of coz a small car helped a lot, and it wasnt even soundproofed, important thing is, good sub, good amp, sufficient clean power, good box and good installation.
