Potion Bro,

Care to explain how you do tethering, using PDANet or iphonemodem?
Thanks Bro

im using iphone tunnel suite 2.7 (recommended version. latest for now). actually frozebyte has open the thread for this software but for a none-wireless SSH. this software capable on tunneling your phone which is SSH of course. and iconnect for tethering and both are using usb.
online directly using the iphone dock.

taking the guide directly from the dev (iMakkie)
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

for me, (guide)

1st. follow the blue instruction from iMakkie and install Proxifier. u can get it here! (trial version).
2nd. install and run Proxifier. go on option>proxy setting and add new proxy which the ip consist of 127.0.0.1 and 1080 for port.
3rd. again in option>name resolution, disable auto mode and choose Remotely.
4th. well, u all set up! run iphone tunnel suite 2.7, connect itunnel and iconnect. then run proxifier and tick the proxy that u have set up earlier. wallah. iphone modem via usb smile.gif

sorry for my late reply. was at lowyat till late searching for my iphone case.

Okey, For Bro Kasman query whether iphone3g can used as a modem.... YES...
it call iphone modem.. or last time, Netshare.... by using this application the iphone3g acting as modem...

BTW, this tutorial only for ppl to connect their iphone3g to laptop via built in wifi... using adhoc method..
Will find a time, to place tutorial: iphone3g as a modem.. (coming soon)

Peace..

looking forward to see the tutorial on iphone as modem. Thanks.

I however, trying to figure out what are the occasions when the "ICS seed Iphone Via wifi" become useful.
??
if you have a laptop, and connected to internet (via cable) , just use the laptop..
unless you don't have a laptop, and no WIFI network. ANd your friend is connected via CABLE, then this become useful.

Hope you don't mind. Found this on the net. Hopefully is helpful.

iModem (Windows Only) Now Lets You Tether Over USB Cable.

Tethering your iPhone for internet use can be a real life-saver when there's no Wi-Fi around, but for those who aren't the most tech-savy, the tinkering with proxy settings and the like can be a little too complicated. Thankfully those times may be coming to a close. Unofficial tethering app iModem has just released an update that lets you tether your iPhone via USB cable.
Previous to this, tethering apps used the iPhone's Wi-Fi capabilities to act as a Wi-Fi hotspot that was connected to the cellular data network. The new iModem is the first tethering app to change this. Instead of messing with settings, you can just connect your iPhone to your laptop through USB cable to share internet.

For iphone as a modem will be soon.. Need to test...
The Methodology iphone as a modem:
Internet ---->Iphone3G ---->Tethering (Via Wifi/Cable) ---->Laptop/PC

When ICS seed iphone via wifi become useful?
ppl like me, who dont have a wifi router/ap stuff.
Just got a laptop that have built-in wifi and 3g broadband..
I subscribe unlimited broadband RM98/month and use usb modem to get connected to the internet..
So i want to split my internet connection, so both got the internet access..
Using adhoc methodology give me/us opportunity to share the internet connection..
This method:
USB modem ----> Laptop(built in Wifi) ---(adhoc)---> Iphone3g

Peace... icon_rolleyes.gif
Im no expert in networking guys, just helping each other...
so helping hand will be appreciate.. TQ notworthy.gif
