Eee PC 1008HA
when do u guys think this will come to malaysia?
and how much u guys think it would cost here?
*
Knew someone would come around to asking about it, looking at the trend of when the news was announced and when it was made officially available here, following in the footsteps of the S101H and the 1002HE, itll be about 3-4 months later when it makes to it our shores and it will be at the price of newly introduced models ie RM1899 since the other models would have dropped in price already. Of course being Malaysia we may not always get all the models you see Asus pumping out blush.gif

It shouldnt be long. Asus is already on its way. Touchscreen is already a reality with the EEETop
Found it selling at a couple of places here already ( Klang Valley ) for about RM2299. These, you can already fit in the car.

But then again the normal EEEPCs with some mods or even a wireless mouse already goes well in the car, which is what ive done with my earlier EEEPC models smile.gif

While the official news about the T91 is that is currently at the US FCC, means its about 2 months before its officially out in the US. But then again its the same sad deal for us here in Malaysia, it may take another 6 months for that to finally reach our shores smile.gif

Definitely the T91 is better. It is the newest although like your Windows 7 Ultimate, its not really released just yet, only announced as coming out soon. Being at the US FCC is like being at Sirim, its awaiting certification for it to come out.

It is going to be the slimmest 10inch touchscreen netbook around and I think thats gonna be the clincher in making the price. It might be released at the upper high end because of its screen size, slimness as well as being touch screen ie a tablet netbook. Probably around RM2299 or a little higher. Of course if it comes out at RM1899 then thats just sweet.

On another note, im hoping they really keep down the weight. Am currently backpacking in Rome right now, bought along the 701 and 901GO. Now while walking through coliseum, pantheon and the likes the 701 really shines for a netbook. It is the slowest and the grand daddy of netbooks but when backpacking, a difference between 735 grams for the 701 and 1.14Kg for the 901 really makes a difference. Im ditching the 901GO for now, for sporadic use the 701 is da bomb, im hoping the T91 can be made really light as the 701s are too.

guys, I think running win7 on netbook such as 1000he is no good, cause winxp requirement is much less, I'm happy with my 1000he on winxp, relatively fast and batt usage very good...but if anyone got goo exp on win 7 please do tell...

New bag for my eee (I swear I have too many bags lol).

This one is quite cheap, just RM60-65 (I got it for 55 since I know the owner whistling.gif). No warranty from the manufacturer (probably will get a shop warranty though).

But this bag is surprisingly very good. The room is spacious, you can keep the cables and laptop in the main compartment, and use the pocket to put quite many objects without it becomes too stuffy/tight. I manages to fit in my ext hd, ext dvd writer, ds and my bluetooth mouse in there!

Hehe perhaps a Nice proper weight will be at around 700-800grams max. Sure hope they will be able to get one with say at least a 10 inch screen running those specs for the road warriors in us blush.gif

Running Vista on a netbook is a totally waste of time though what it gives in terms of security and graphics may be better. Win 7 actually helps with that and on proper machines it sometimes gives an even better performance than XP. I have a netbook running Win 7 and XP. They are on par in terms of speed given the right tweaks and specs. I say and agree with jigon, give it a run first and see, you might just be suprised.

Very easy answer to that. When you have the cash. notworthy.gif
I have 2 of the 701models still and they run beautifully but some portions of my work need me to have a bigger screen to work with and longer battery life hence the reliance on Atom processors. But as you can see, the weight is not agreeable to me though yes 700grams vs 1.2kg may not sound like very much of a difference but hey, 1.2kg versus a normal 2kg laptop also doesnt sound any different but then try lugging a normal laptop around for 5 hours hmm.gif

In short you should upgrade when you feel that you need something better. The current one that you have im sure serves you a whole lot unless you have bigger needs wink.gif

In a forum, you'll note the reply was to a question someone else posted. If youve no other machine, you can always try Win 7 via Virtual Machine and see how itll work on your machine. Make google your friend remember blink.gif

Also youre asking a redundant question, if youd look a few posts behind folks already have shared their views and experience. Please make an effort first to read through before striking in. shakehead.gif There are comments beyond the last 2 -3 posts and in fact was preceded by your Windows 7 Ultimate question.

Win 7 works beautifully with newer netbooks with faster processors. Nevertheless Win 7 is not yet official so the bugs you see may be because its still in its testing phase. For now its on par with Win XP in terms of speed, Win XP is not capable of using SSD write techniques as Win 7 can so performance on SSD machines once Win7 is out may be even better and faster.

Ha ha. Yep am definitely going to get another one once I save up.

Am waiting on one receiving my book-like leather cover for it. Taking awhile to show up.

Earlier someone mentioned they got Fabrix cases for their eeepc. I'm interested but the Fabrix website don't have many pictures. I want to see how it looks like inside (when open) and the underside. Anyone can show?

The leather book cover youre getting that one from Taiwan right ? Its probably gonna take about 3-6weeks for it to drop by. The Fabrix cases, that was me, cool that you did some read up smile.gif

Right since Im travelling right now resources to take up photos may not be available as quickly as id like them to but ill try and capture the insides for you. Remember they are custom made for your laptop and costs max at SGD60 depending on size, for a 701 with 7 inch screen itll cost a max of SGD 50. Minimum SGD40 which does not include shipping. Ill post some pics up later if and when possible.

In the US, its being sold for US$399, so I guess it would be RM1899 alright. As usual, abt RM500 more
