Hi guys, i'm not sure if this has been asked before, but i need a quick answer. The one selling in Ikano, although It's an old model, sounds like good bargain. I just need one for websurfing. Only issue is It's running on linux, which i'm afraid, does not get the most support for online browsing features like an IE does. Can i change the OS to win xp? If yes, how do i go about it? Through asus authorised? Or we can diy it?

First of all, you need to check whether it is Eee PC 701.
If yes, it should be no problem to switch it to Window XP as the XP drivers are provided inside the Box.
You can install XP by using external DVD Drive or by using a bootable Pendrive ( *Note* not all pendrive able to boot )
If lets say you want Asus authorised to do it for you, you must give them the original Window XP. And remember, there will be some service charge * RM50-100 *
So might be as well DIY first coz its like normal reformating your pc.

Have a nice day

it's 50 units per day not 5 units.

FYI: tomolo all it ikano will be open late for customers coz they've scheduled the grand opening ceremony session from 10.00am to 12.00pm. there will be also a queue system utilzing "ticket" for EEE pc allocation abt 50 units, and this imply also on other promo items as well which is limited in quantity. so u guys can start lining up early coz the entrance will be closed til the opening ceremony session is done.  good luck to all lol

I was there this morning, they open 11am, i reach there around 11.15am, saw they still have few pcs. According to the floor people, they said they have another 50pcs to be release tomorrow (Sunday), if anyone come before 1030am, line up for half and hour, they will be abe to grab it as most people come around 11am....

so be an early bird if you really want to grab it.

For me I grab a A4 Tech wireless keyboard and mouse set for only RM 49..... from their 50% discount...very good deal !!!

Nope, Eee PC doesn't comes with international warranty.
If you bought it outside Msia, then you need to send it back to the country in which you bought it from.

Yeap,
900 160GB + 2gb RAM for RM1499 .
Window XP home SP3 ORIGINAL.
The start up speed faster than 900 30GB by 10 seconds.

Haha ! 900 or 904 ? =)
