we have the players to win it at home. from past records, Jenas and Adebayor should score....perhaps Keano can cap his return with a goal to let us win 2-1?

yes Keano was el capitan.

we should have been able to put away 10 men arsenal at home. i was particularly impressed with Palacios. he does give our midfield some steel finally.

i'll be honest that i don't think we'll do much tonight. key players are being rested for the Hull game on Monday. a draw would be a great result.

Hey, it was a great result. You did not lose by 6 goals. Keep it up. I will support you forever

Dun worry. After all your manager wants to win the carling cup rite. So he qualifies for the UEFA cup but at the same time he gets kick out of the UEFA cup. Good logic? Can you explain this logic to me?rclxub.gif

the logic is quite simple and makes the most sense. what are facts:

1) we do not have a deep squad
2) we are in an EPL relegation battle
3) we will never climb to top 6 this season to qualify for Europe via the league
4) Carling Cup champion automatically qualifies the team for Uefa Cup

Hence,

1) we will rest key players from all unnecessary matches except for EPL and Carling Cup final
2) with so many players cup-tied, our squad for the Uefa Cup matches is not the strongest
3) so, best to give up on Uefa Cup competiton and concentrate on EPL and Carling Cup Final
4) dropping to Championship League is NOT good for the club's finances.

Tottenham boss Redknapp explains hooking Zokora

16.03.09 | tribalfootball.com
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has explained why he hooked Didier Zokora at halftime of yesterday's 2-1 win at Aston Villa.

He explained: "I played Didier against (Cristiano) Ronaldo when we played United earlier in the season at White Hart Lane and he was fantastic, I played him right-back against Stewart Downing as well, so we're talking about two of the best left wingers around and he's been brilliant.

"I thought he could do that job again but he found it hard going. He over-covered, got too close to the centre-halves and there was always space.

"Villa got the ball out to Ashley Young, he kept running and when he does that you've no chance.

"Charlie (Vedran Corluka) came on, got close to him, stopped him getting the ball and did a superb job. We pushed on from there."

the team is really clicking now. we just need better crossing and sharpness in the strikers. i have new appreciation for BAE and he is clearly our starting left back now.

the return of Hutton presents a selection problem for the right back spot as Corluka has been doing very well there.

i wonder if Bale can be trained to handle the left wing position. we don't have a natural left winger still.

Doubt it will be a problem for him. Modern fullbacks constantly make runs down the flanks anyway. It will help though if we develops his rightfoot because unlike defenders, wingers are more effective if they can cut inside and out.
*
fair comment on the use of the right foot. i fear that if Bale is not considered for the left winger slot, he will be gone this summer. but i do like his speed and his ability to hold the ball. but as a left back, he fails cos he keeps overlapping and then leaving his position open to counter attacks.

QUOTE(spursfan @ Apr 22 2009, 10:17 AM)
hmm ... i thought modric is doing a fine job there
huddlestone n palacios seems to work
*
Modric is better if he is given freedom to roam the entire midfield and sit behind the strikers. so yes, he does go left, go right etc.

Huddlestone is useful for his long range passing and Palacios adds steel to the midfield with his ability to break up the opponents flow.

it was a tale of 2 halves. we owned them in the 1st half but we failed to adjust to their 4-pronged attack with the introduction of Tevez.

anytime, we double up on Berbatov, or Ronaldo, or Rooney or Tevez with our 4 defenders, one of their 4 will be unmarked and we paid the price.
