there is a clause when Spurs sold him to Portsmouth that if Defoe is sold to another club, Spurs will receive £4million from that sale.

so now Portsmouth is selling Defoe to Spurs, and we want Portsmouth to pay us the £4million...even though WE are the ones buying him....
