how big is the tortoise ? do they mate ? the tortoise may lay unfertilized egg so its a 50/50 chance. The tortoise lay the egg on the ground or deep inside the soil ?

Theres should be more to be laid and chances of hatching is close to zero unless collected as they are laid !!

* Reptile eggs - tortoise especially dehydrate fast (Star has hard shelled eggs so the dehydration cant be noticed unlike sea turtle or emys emys ) and hours after laid they cant be rotated !!

And like uzairi say they can lay unfertilized eggs !!

Nt sure if they mate...bt d egg is laid on d ground as the tortoises are out on the grass only for evening walk..other than tat, they'll be in d hse roaming..

Thanks administrator, I am now finally able to log in and read all the useful advicxe given by our Malaysian aficionados. You guys are so lucky to be able to keep so many varieties of turtle and tortoises.
Out here, our Singapore govt. only approve the keeping of Red Ear Slider as pets.
I go to Johore Bahru very often, and one day I will try to get a star tortoise back
