@icy - currently one of the best col/uni for classical music is UCSI if i'm not wrong. icom is fully modern music, no classical course offered, however UCSI offered both modern music (much smaller by comparison) and classical music.

from what i saw, many musicians accelerate their skills and techniques in master degree, so bachelor is more like a music knowledge course (doesn't mean you don't learn much of your instrument, though). that's why i recommend you opt for mpo players as your teacher (externally) so you can accel in both.

oh and to be fair, there're also a lot of excellent musicians playing as good as master degree holder but they don't hold *any* degree certs at all.

MPO Salary :

“As much as 95 percent of the foreign musicians are paid between RM16,000 and RM28,000 a month and given two months paid leave every year. The conductor is paid RM130,000 a month while the (conductor’s) assistant is paid RM50,000 a month,” he said."

Malaysia market to small to support every artist...to many already...but composer or producer is sth else...try that first..if u can write a good song...then put your life on the live...but if u r just living and earning singing hits of yesterday....forget it....

To get any label to represent u when is a nightmare...!!!..and not to mention "curi lagu...!!!!"...WTF!!!!...also got.. biggrin.gif

hehey.., good the hear..

about the curi lagu one.., yeah.. it's like.. me too scenario.. i've been into that scenario too..

but still.., i'm at it.. , trying maybe.. this time i have better luck..!!

well, like you said.. it's tough luck.! not like in a movie coyote ugly.. ! where it looks so easy to get inspired and sell your song..

stealing is a major issue...some one i know actually post a copy of his own lyrics and cd copy of his creation to himself before sending it or letting anyone see it..

when he recieve his own package he dosent break the Post seal...if its sealed in post seal, its a certified secured...if anyone steal his song he can bring the package to court sealed as proof he knew of the song before the new owner claimed it...

I know one so call "abang tolong ajar...." scam by very well known composer...claimed to "..let me have a look and i put some of my magic in it...." but stole it with some added stuff of his....

If any one here is good, try composing...Jayz was not living as large before be started composing..snoop dog also...

I wrote my own songs. I love music because I love composing. I've been searching for ways to let people hear my songs but its just too difficult. People that i manage to let them listen are just my friends and they will like it very much. But whenever they praise my song, I will feel very sad deep inside although I am happy that they like it cos' I know even if they like it, even the songs are good, I will not have the chance to use it to reach a higher level.. such as notice by record labels maybe..?

But my passion for music still dragging me along until I notice that I need a band. So this brings me to those band searching website and yes... I met a lot of musician. But still searching for musician to form a band. From metalmania, a composer can earn better? I compose more than 50 finished songs and dont-know maybe more than 200 of unfinished songs but how can i let it be usable for my advantage?

For the curi lagu part, yea... I worried too as I did send some of my purportedly good songs to some artist and producers who claim that they can have a view and give some comments. But no answer from them then.

I joined a songwriting workshop before with fees, not because I want to learn but because I hope I can meet people like me and at the same time, let the singer/songwriter listen to my composing... so that maybe he could guide on how to or where should i pass the song to the right people. But to cut short, at the end I wasted my money for the fees and my time. Very sad.

Music path... its not easy.

agree..

i wrote quite a number of song.., a few of them got snapped by local band..! (sorry couldn't reveal the bandname).., yeah.., like metalmania said.., 1st ask them to listen.., or do demo with them.., but after some time.., suddenly you hear a very familiar song on the radio.! hey.. is that my song? they didn't request my song or what.., it's just that i offered to play it to them or demo it to them..! if they like.., ask laa properly.. maybe we talk about dollar and cents.. but hell no.., just like that..

so., now.. i'm a bit careful to whom.. i played or demo my song..

terces.. >> just keep on writing.. smile.gif.. no worries..! who knows someday.. u might found some fortunes from your song..

and.. take criticism with open heart.. if you wanna improve..! joining a workshop..is a good way to improve your songwriting capabilities..

money? good money.. , naaa.. just do it from your heart 1st.. ! musician and money didn't rhymes well with malaysian scene..! enough for cukup makan only.. smile.gif

for glam and fam..
