i'm not a teacher nor a professional musician. but from what i heard, unless u're the best of the best in the country, its really hard to make a living in malaysia. even the big names in malaysia also have a hard time making money performing. so i guess that just leaves teaching music, and that's a more stable source of income. |

QUOTE(icyfawkes @ Oct 22 2008, 04:12 PM) for a musician, could be a lil old. but then see your heart and of course talent ler. QUOTE(metalmania @ Oct 22 2008, 04:20 PM) ....how many local artist drive a BMW?...M.Nasir drives an old BMW...some earn afew RM's a show..but u have to remember that can be the only show for the year....the most well earned singer in malaysia is Siti and most of that cames from Pepsi....What kind of song u want to sing also play a roll, Pop usually easier to earn, i know to many dead local artist to encorage u to do it, live like beggers , chasing paymenyt after shows and only famous amongs friends and small group....but if u really think u can make it dont let me stop u...just want to let u know...2 of Malaysia's First Rock Band, still alive now afer so many years...do u know how well they are doing? i guess that is true to some extent. but if u really love something, i bet money is not always the factor that u take into right? if enough to survive, i bet u'd keep going at it until a big break or u get lucky.and of course, dun always limit yourself locally. if u're the best at what u do, why stop at being a domestic artist? international is the way to go. if u know for yourself that u are good, and the local market doesnt seem to suit you, go somewhere else. definately much better talent outside the country. u can make more and also learn even more. |

i have a friend who's studying his masters in conducting in australia. i guess overseas, the appreciation for music is much more when compared to here. i guess pretty much are around the same level, with uk being slightly higher. but then the cost of living there is higher too. so i guess the wiser choice would be australia? |

QUOTE(icyfawkes @ Oct 23 2008, 10:37 AM) u mean u want to study there right?i guess that would help with lodging and everything. but ultimately, what would be the most expensive would be your tuition fees ler. the currency exchange rate is a killer. and cost of living is usually higher in UK if u stay in the cities. if u stay in the suburbs on the other hand, i guess it would be easier |
