Haha, of course it's cheaper tongue.gif.

I decided with USA because it's cheaper overall (based on my specs); SG based Sager would be about RM5.6K with shipping, USA based Sager is RM5K with shipping. I saved RM600, but lose the ability to use my warranty closer to MY (like the poster above me, who still can have warranty).

However, I am confident that I won't need the warranty so...just a matter of getting a cheaper laptop, and plus I will be conducting my own upgrades and repairs, unless something serious happens. I'm rarely back in Malaysia anyway so blush.gif

Matter of preference I would say; by all means go for Mucro.Asia, because they are the closest Sager reseller to MY.

What is your specs?
Reading from your sig, i7-2720QM w 4GB & GTX460 (no HDD)?

This is the price from Mucro.

From mucro asia? How much? I hear mucro asia will get the stock early feb
*
The total cost including postage was MYR7K+
Not only Mucro, all "Clevo" vendors will get the stock by early Feb.
I heard there could be further delay, especially the 8170.
It sells like hot cakes.

Yeah I got an email from LPC-Digital.

Yes Sager and other importers are having a slowness of units coming in from Clevo.  The factory is shipping each week but not very many.  This is how it is many times with new technology unfortunately.  Delays are common.  I check each day and we will do our very best on getting these orders out.

The anxious minds await the arrival of the beast...

The delays may pose a problem with me leaving the country mid Feb haha.  cry.gif  doh.gif

It's kinda rush.
Did you get the express or overnight postage?
If not, it's unlikely to reach you by mid-Feb.

For Sager/Clevo users, may I know what's the main reason you go with barebone laptop?

Price/performance? Future upgrade ability?

Cuz personally think that future upgrade ability almost nil due to fact almost newer cpu from intel using different socket. Maybe GTX460/485 MXM slot and cooling system compatible with future card.

Initially thinking of buying NP8150 but now thinking of spending half the money on midrange gaming laptop and spend another half for a new laptop in future tongue.gif
*
Mucro's Sager with i7-2630QM & GTX460 cost lower than MSI. Price is reasonable.
I'm not looking into future upgradability (as I think Ivy bridge will have different socket then).

The main reason I picked Sager because it offered what I wanted where other brands didn't (at this moment).
For instance, I'm looking for an i7-quad with 1600MHz DDR3 because I have 1600MHz ready ram modules.
And GTX485 seems an interesting product. It delivers the performance of SLI without the SLI scaling bottleneck.
Games that don't support/have least support for SLI will fly on GTX485.
Other brands do not offer these at this moment.
Clevo/Sager seems to offer the right product at the right time - therefore you can see orders are flooding in every day.

General rule, you pay what you get.
No rush, just spend on something you're comfortable with.

Guys, you bought the Sager laptops from Mucro Asia, so what's the shipping fee if we order the laptop from East Coast Malaysia?

I'm currently comparing between XoticPc and Mucro Asia, pricewise, I think XoticPC is cheaper excluding the shipping.

Please advice.
*
You should get a quote from Mucro website.

For West Malaysia, Mucro offers a cheaper postage as compared to XoticPC.
Besides, don't forget to add to finance charges too (credit card/palpal/TT).

Well, I did check with GenTech too, but they currently have the normal
NP8150, I wanted the S1 model which is available in mucro or Xoticpc only.

So,Mucro is more worth the price?

After all, shipping fee is much lower and the finance fee, I could save that if I buy from Mucro right?
*
Mucro is charging MYR227 for postage to W.Malaysia.
I find it's rather cheap as compared to others.

No financial fee if you pay via MB2U

Yeh, I just read about that 2 mins ago....the bloody Aus govt. taxes the shit out of this laptop if you order it in.
Don't you get taxed in Malaysia though?
*
You can still ship to Australia if you find the tax is justifiable.
I remember someone posted the websites of online Sager sellers in Australia.
Probably you can look in that too - buy Sager through the Australian online sellers.

I ordered the 8170/P170HM.

No news yet.
I was told it will arrive by early Feb. Could be delay though.

So, "happy new year" first then continue waiting. laugh.gif

did you order from mucro ?
the site says 1-3s ETA lol
am also tempted to order 8150 with 485m now
really cant wait for 6970
*
It will reach you 1-3 days once they receive the stock from Sager/Clevo (Danzas is very efficient in delivering cargo).
If you read the messages from various forums, you'll find out so many people ordered 8150/8170.
For now, Clevo is still rushing out the piling orders of 8150/8170.
We are all patiently waiting.

hmm just thinking why 8150 more popular than8130 is it because of future upgrade?
*
I think 8150 is more popular because it offers customizable GPU.

ic most people wan gtx485 right biggrin.gif

I guess this is the main difference.
http://www.xoticpcforums.com/showthread.php?t=8181

Power adapter could be the reason too.
I think it can't be the main reason because not many people will upgrade CPU and GPU.

Otherwise, 8130 and 8150 are virtually the same.
Same weight, same dimension, same GPU, same CPU etc.

Shipping it to East Malaysia would be more costly as compared shipping to West Malaysia isn't it?

Hmm,ya, I was actually planning to pay via Maybank2U.

Well, is there any such thing as customs officer checking the package or whatsoever and then fine you for purchasing a laptop overseas or from Singapore?
Would they do that?
*
Please check at Mucro website. You can check the rates with just few clicks.

Computers should be tax free.
However, if the custom officers want to take bribe or make things difficult for you, they have every reason to detain your goods. Sh*t happens. You just have to live with that.
All importers/buyers face the same issue and risk. You are not alone.

smile.gif thanks for the reply, it was very helpful

Yes indeed, Ive been in contact with LBO and AL since last night, and it was only LBO that got back to me...twice! AL are still yet to..
The other thing I like is, their website is easier to navigate/use  hehe
AL tho, pride them selves in being the oldest most established reseller of Clevos in Australia, 10 years of experience.
They say their machines are built by 'ITC mobile computing'.
The price indeed is the most important factor, and thats why Ive gone with Clevo, it gives you more power for every dollar you spend than any other laptop manufacturer.
LBO also offer a stock 3 year warranty period, but this makes their notebooks a couple of hundred dollars more expensive. The AL machines are slightly cheaper, but come with only a 1 year warranty, if you upgrade to 3 years..it passes the cost of getting it from LBO. So theres that to consider as well.
I need my lappy soon, and with the floods up in Queensland, delivery has been on halt for quite some time sad.gif

I am thinking of getting the NP8150 with a HD in the optical drive bay tongue.gif  so I can fit an SSD in there.

Now I  understand why you had ordered from the US, since ure in Malaysia right now. You can avoid the gst and upgrade it easily and cheaper like you said. But what about warranty?would you be able to send it in for repairs at either LBO or AL? or would it have to go all the way to the US, with you having to bare the shipping costs?
If so, wouldnt you be better buying from OZ? ok its slightly more expensive, but you have that completely worry free experience with the 3 year onsight pick warranty cocooning you..give me your thoughts please.
*
Check with Sager/Clevo whether it's SATA III in the optical drive or not.
I heard the optical driver only has SATAII.

It's alright if you don't mind SATA II or III.
