I'm 100% sure the Status sort option was there before 2.7, because I have been using that option EVER since I bought my PS3 last year.

The old sort status option:
Online friends first, alphabetically.
Offline friends after that, alphabetically.

Now as for the sort by name option, it simply just sort all your friends by name alphabetically. Regardless if they are online or offline. If you have 100 friends on your list and you need to find someone and just so happen you have forgotten his/her PSN ID, then it'll be a hassle to find in the list now would it?

As I said, not a major issue but Sony shouldn't have fixed what isn't broken.

Yup you are right...After I tried it again with lots of friends on line then only I know the difference..This morning only 2 friends online hence I didn't really notice..My Bad...

Oh and Snoy...you are bad too...but then again..I kinda like sorting via status as I don't have to scroll down that much as I know people down there haven't logged in since several months ago...

Anyone noticed that the PS3 has gotten... "slower" after 2.7?

First, comparing trophies with a friend has definitely gotten slower. Okay, its arguable as currently streamyx is F'd. So will have to wait until after their so called "April 5th" for them to fix their connection up.

Second, after logging into PSN, your friend list will start to load. As it is loading, after stuff you do like viewing your games tend to a slight bit longer to load as well. I went into the PSN store directly after logging into PSN yesterday, and it took me nearly half a minute to enter. Before, it only took about 10 seconds max.

Usually, even with crappy connection before you could do things rather simultaneously without any longer wait. But after the firmware, seems like things gotten a little bit slower than before.

Another thing I noticed.

After I logged into PSN, I directly go to my Trophy Collection menu whilst my friend list is still loading. Now it'll take up to a good 10 seconds or even more for the list to load! doh.gif

Before, it was instant.

actually on my end it's the opposite...all the above u mentioned are faster on 2.70 whereas b4 it was like u said but on 2.60. Even PS Home can connect easily. nod.gif

i love how the XMB process while in-game, very fast compared to previous firmware.
