Just want to share with you all the Tibetan Mastiff pictures (found these pictures on one of the China forum) here, not many people have seen such breed. Very few in China too.

In China, pure breed also not much left...they are trying to rescue this breed too...

Only pure breed could be such big size.... There is one guy in Penang starting to breed this breed, selling price is RM8,888/-. But his puppies are black and tan colour type only. Red one looks more like a lion...and white colour looks so sweet...

most of the mastiff that sell in malaysia is not pure blood one...
a baby tibetan mastiff will call for USD10k.. and only those hav higher status in the society will hav them... tibet government won't sell them easily...
i heard that, this breed of dog, can easily kill a wolf.. and they are more aggresive towards animals than human... but, they will only listen to one owner...

juz my 2 cents

These pictures are NOT PURE Tibetan Mastiff breed, they are mixed with Hound bloodline. Pure Tibetan Mastiff muzzle should not be droppy.

Can you share the TM Breeder in Penang ? I am from BM Penang... I love this breed maybe I can pay him a visit ( RM8888 is very cheap for a pure TM) ... I had join TM Forum for year and study about this breed and my conclusion is there are a lot of tibetan Mix out there and tibetan Dog ( some look like a golden retriever / Rott) . If there are breeder in penang then we can see the sire & dam to judge... that is a good news for the buyer.

TM is a banned breed in a lot of countries...due to their behaviiour...they r not a dog for everyone...a person who want to have TM must need to train them really really well. if not they can become a monster. They r much more powerful than Rott. And if u can imagine an untrained mastiff letting loose, it can cause havoc in the neighborhood.

TM is consider national treasure in China. My fren from China told me, the dog is very well respect in the country. So before u get this breed, u need to have tons of experience in handling dogs to make TM a wonderful dog in ur family. We dun want any tragedy to happen n create a Rottie image in this breed in the public

Tibetan mastiff's are usually used for sheperds or something to guard their sheep, so they wouldn't have any losses through predators

The flur condition is due to hot climate here .. normally the nice photo of TM is taken during winter , no one wanna show his TM during summer ... the flur condition not that nice. BTW this are just a soso quality TM.

The second photo is white caucasian ovcharka.

According to China forum, that is not real true story, just a myth. Probably that was a myth created by the farmer. Another possibility that the farmer was so poor that never fed the TM for quite some time during winter, until the dog had to hunt for its own food. So happen that the wolves came, he had to put up a fight over the food.

15k is just a bloody rip off.
If TMs are not banned in Malaysia, you can actually buy from breeders in australia and fly it back to Malaysia. Properly certified, parents health scanned and all that for around 10k RM from hobbyist breeders who actually show their dogs

http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/puppie...tan-mastiff.asp

of course..you have to assure them you can take care of their pups before they are willing to send it to u though.

Dont buy from the dodgy petshops...

i think it should be spelled as St Bernard
both these dogs should be kept in cool condtition to prevent them from getting overheated. when that happens saliva problem start to come tongue.gif

all the big breeds or those thick fur dogs are meant to live in the northern or southern hemisphere.. not here in Malaysia (unless u provide at least 12 hours aircon), the quality of the dog hair will only deteriorates as they shed alot to fight off the heat.....

for example, u will never get the same quality of husky in Malaysia compare to US. Even tho u fully import US line dog, but they grow up not up to the standard wan...

But its all depend on how the owner keep the dog...if they willing to spend thousands in the month for their dog supplies..it will at least maintain the quality...but not everyone afford that...

all the big breeds or those thick fur dogs are meant to live in the northern or southern hemisphere.. not here in Malaysia (unless u provide at least 12 hours aircon), the quality of the dog hair will only deteriorates as they shed alot to fight off the heat.....

for example, u will never get the same quality of husky in Malaysia compare to US. Even tho u fully import US line dog, but they grow up not up to the standard wan...

But its all depend on how the owner keep the dog...if they willing to spend thousands in the month for their dog supplies..it will at least maintain the quality...but not everyone afford that...

Ya...fully agreed with that statement.

I like those Giant breed with tick fur type, but I know I can't afford to keep them at tip-top condition, so no point keeping them. Firstly... over here in Malaysia we don't have suitable weather for them, secondly... the giant breed do not have the freedom to run and exercise freely in a spacious compound.
