PowerGel not much effective for me.  Its not in my list long long time ago.  I take a Japanese brand jelly like gel called Weider IN Energy.  Other options are GU Gel or Accel Gel.  These gel does provide some form of energy.

Weider gel very big size la, how u carry when run?

But if i stand up and press hard and twist around a bit then will feel pain.

maybe its the shoe lace, cos i have been trying to tighten it as much possible since i visited a podiatrist who advice me to do so.... hahah bad advice?

doctor gave me an x ray...confirm nothing wrong with the bones.
suspect could be due to ligament tear.....
best part is he said i could continue running, and if problem persist then only go back see him hahahahaha

though i am still not sure what is causing this mild pain, but its a huge relieve to me.....at least still can run! so dun care liao, after scklm can rest 99 then sure can recover.

Marvin, pace urself in the marathon as this is your 1st.  Ultimate goal is to finish without suffering, timing is secondary for now.  Dont go out with a fast pace, u burnt urself out towards the end like 30k or can be even 25k.  Then jialat.  I will be starting with a 6.30 pace and see how the body condition.

Added on June 10, 2009, 3:27 pmI was informed by my sources that SCKLM 42k cut off time is 9hrs.

i hope got pacers this scklm.
when i run alone during lsd, i try to go slower hoping can do longer distance without much suffering, but end up suffer and cannot go longer than usual lsd also. hahaha so it seems fast and slow no diff.

really hope dun hit the wall!!! but if cramp then how ah? immediately take gu gel can help ?

This Sat will be the last LSD before the big day on 28June.  Will be doing a 15k run ie 2 loops around Bird Park, refuel and then out for Double Hill.  Start at 6am.  Marvin & devil, u are welcome to join.
*
hehe me never do double hill before.
just want to ask, i know there are a lot of advocaters and pro's out there saying we should taper during the last 2 week before the big day.
Is it mainly to avoid injury or to conserve energy and allow our body and legs to heal???
either reason it still make sense to taper.....but i also have an alternative thinking.

assuming you are training for a ultra marathon......you would be probably doing 42k's as weekly training and 42k becomes an easy distance to cover...suffering only starts beyond that distance tongue.gif

now using the same principle, suppose we don't taper off this weekend, and continue to run high 35k's and then next week run 42k (take race day as training prequel to something bigger). 1 week is enough to recover and restore all the energy back to our body, no?

icic...thanks for enlightening me ccube! smile.gif

issit advisable to do a fast 20km this sat?? feel like testing my limit if i do a fast pace. meaning to run at a pace i feel reasonably hard, where i feel just able to sustain. just so i know how far to push during the race and yet be able to sustain the distance.

am trying btw 4.30 to 4.40 finishing.  but generally i dont pressure myself with timing, if i feel good on race day, then the consistency along the race will be there.

Added on June 22, 2009, 1:15 pm
hard luck to get a bib now.
*
that would be great for my virgin marathon timing hahaha.
dun know got strength to pace together with you or not haha... we can just follow the 4:30 pacer....but then maybe have to go a bit faster taking into consideration resting time in between to take the gels.
i m thinking 5 min stop at 15km, 5 min stop at 30km and another 3 min stop at 35km.
