ccube, way to early for newbie like me to follow u guys doing LSD this Sat. Not sure i can give a Lunar another try or not as i have another plan that day. Same for me as i run better in stability shoe. But the Lunar Trainer cushioning had impressed me a lots.
*
riq, yah i dun expect you to run a 30k without a good base training. get urself running more 20k and in not time you shud be able to hack a 30k run, trust me. not doubt the cushioning of the Luna is good but IMHO its too soft (almost like a CROC sandal, so much so its absorbing everything and not pushing my feet up during the heel-to-toe transition) In such situation, you spend more energy lifting up your feet especially when you are doing a long run like 25k or 30k.

meatball, come on.....nothing is easy in a race. sweat.gif especially when you are doing 20k and above. as i said its mind over body once you reach a certain stage. dont get too worried about those reviews that you read.

I always believed in what Richard Branson said "SCREW IT, JUST DO IT"

i'm going for the 20km i think 30km is abit hard for me
hopefully can train with you guy coz i'm new in all this  blush.gif

lexan, Running is FUN yet challenging. Dont concentrate too much on the later but put your focus on the FUN part. Once you get over it, you can easily overcome the challenges during the race. so always look at it that way and by running with a group that will be even better. so start with a 20k as your base and slowly move up the chain, no hurry. u are laways welcome to train with us. and btw, if you are on the lookout for a new pair of trainer do let me know as I am selling Saucony in Malaysia.

QUOTE(nonexno @ Oct 30 2008, 10:52 AM)
Hey Phoenix, I found the Kinsei quite comfortable though! Kayano was comfortable but the Kinsei was really comfy. Sorry for the misspelling.
My foot fits shoes which are in the category of neutral to overpronation. I tried the other shoes. Besides Kinsei, the rest of the Asic range is kind of chunky at the bottom. I still feel comfortable in my Nike. But when I look at my Nike sole, they wear unevenly. Not to be over analytical but I just want to take of my knees. I used to do circuit trainning so shoes were not that important. But I want to pick up running now and I'm considering a good pair of shoes. Can someone also provide some info on Nike vs Asic?

BTW, I just checked my Polar F5. It's kaput! New battery don't work either. Was consider the RS800 or FT80. FT80 looks better but can you care to share the differences, if you know? The website makes it hard to compare.
*
Then you shud also consider Saucony Hurricane 10. The most salable stability and pronation shoe in USA. I have customer using both the Kayano 13 and Hurricane 10, and the feedback on H10 came out a bit better. Weight wise the Kayano is no where near the H10, H10 is so much lighter and not as bulky. The Kayano is better with more cushioning and slightly softer, thats the reason why its also heavier. Price wise the H10 definitely had he advantage.

casual jog due to a blister..29 02 to be exact rclxms.gif

Devil, wah Saucony so saileh arhhh !!!! didnt know a new pair of Saucony can bring your time down and motivate you to run faster. I hope it will have the magic on everyone that wears a Saucony, hehehehe!!!! anyway glad to hear you are improving even w/o pushing yourself hard. try pushing urself in another session and see how it goes. that will give you some benchmark.

Injinji lotsa good reviews..i do suppose when i train like for long run must try nod.gif but at the moment stick to dri fits
so me current condition..i put plaster oni and try la  tongue.gif

devil, Injinji may solve your problems if your blister are between the toes (ie there are friction generated). if the blisters at other part of your feet then an Anti-Blister Double Layer socks like Wright Socks http://www.wrightsock.com/ cud be the solution. I will be bring this brand into Malaysia, just hangon to it when the stocks arrive.

vaseline or baby oil works for me most of the time.
*
Vaseline will work but it will hv the geasy feel all over your feet, not recommended. For me Vaseline only good for your nipples, arm pits and groin area (which I am applying to). Body Glide - I may also be bringing it into Malaysia, just need to ensure there is mkt for it. Have not use it before so I hv no comment on it but have good reviews.

shocking.gif nipples? armpits? i realli nvr knew...groin hmm.gif

anal? blush.gif i knw wat u mean..i do feel if u din wear underwear it kinda helps nod.gif
*
when in a marathon there are times that u see runners bleeding from the nipples. their vest are stain with blood esp those wearing white. this is caused by the friction irregardless if its a new or old vest. but this does not happen to everyone, its a very individual thingy !!! similar to armpits, groins, any area withing your body that have a possibilty of rubbing against each other and causes friction will generate such problems.

diff for me anal though..well nt exactly anal but..that region tongue.gif blush.gif
*
devil, the problem may not surface over a short distance of 5k - 10k, just be cautious when you are doing 10k and above. when i run 20k and above i will apply vaseline to my nipples, armpits, groins and any area that can create friction and cause chaffing. if not when you take your shower and the water hits the wound caused by the chafing, you can sing a song with your loudest pitch !!!! rclxms.gif icon_question.gif

The Nike LunaRacer+ is out since a month ago and I'm already wearing it. It costs RM439. The obvious difference compared to the Nike LunarTrainer+ will be FlyWire construction that replaces the traditional airmesh hence the lighther weight. Other differences are the tighter fit, lower profile outsole and the inclusion of more carbon rubber on the outsole. And it weights at only 156 grams, almost half the weight of the trainer! Please note how I spelt both the shoes model.
*
Phoenix,

wah RM439...cinya expensive one arhh. didnt know that. add another RM21 can buy two pairs of Saucony liao (Jazz 12 at RM230 and Fastwitch at RM230) Is Saucony too cheap or NIKE is too expensive rclxub.gif thumbup.gif

yesterday finally saw a Adizero RC RM419.90 (bo $$ chase another new shoe)/ almost same like adizero Pro RM499.90 .
i get adizero PRO -40% , and adizero breeze RM350 -10%,now a days all running shoe nearly half thousand ringgit !  icon_question.gif
cinya EXPENSIVE liao , last time most expensive shoe is Nike bastketball , air jordan 600+ Nike full air RM475(1990yrs)Hot NBA , now semua hot running . all brand design for running. soon will RM500-600 a pair ? hmm.gif

this weekend(saturday) u guy going bukit aman in the early morning 530am or 730am ? any1 else train more then 10k ?
*
sfax, Adi very der expensive lah, unless u buy old models and catch them when there is a store wide discount, else all their shoes are easily RM350 - RM500, cinya expensive. My Saucony Paramount which is top of the range with climate adaptability only cost RM430. The most expensive running shoes is still Asics Kinsei which is RM800 but this model is a failure. Too much technology in it tat so much so it made the shoe so heavy, hard and bulky

By the way fellow runners... if anybody is interested to get Newton running shoes (as worn/endorsed by 2008 KONA Ironman world champion Craig Alexander), can get in touch with me... interested please check out www.newtonrunning.com for more details / technology / models

Newton shoes help guide you to run with forefoot landing and pushoff, which is the most natural and efficient way to run... Lots of patents and research in these shoes... so they dun come cheap...

The racers and trainers are going for RM525 nett. Cheerz!
*
berukberak, Newton have some good models. no doubt about it but its very new to the market. i only heard abt it last two yrs, also during the Kona Ironman time. Are you marketing it directly urself??

hehe laugh.gif good to hear..u'll hv a faithful customer if the prices dun go up (well a bit its still okies la tongue.gif)

hmm.gif hw do shoes like adizero compare to normal trainers..dey hv less cushioning??..more contact with the ground?? can b used in long distance?
*
devil, adizero series are racers. this type of shoe are very flat ie thin, low profile and very little cushioning and stability support. the key advantage is its very light. generally for those who run fast in a short race like 5k, 10k and max 21k. a normal trainer will have better cushioning and stability support for longer distance running to prevent any injury. so the conclusion is if you are new to running dont invest in a racer first until u are comfortable running fast. newbies shud just stick to trainers for any distance during trainings.
