either her or Kirishima Mana is not going to be much popular with the fans. Rei is loved by otakus, and Asuka is a tsundere, thus any other female characther (bar Misato) in eva have a history of failure (read: Hikari)

An interesting talk that I have with some Eva fans, We were talking wether or not this was made for the money or is really Gainax wanted to have a better ending for the seiries. Needless to say we were split in the middle, will post more about the arguments after WCG XD

It could be partially both... as much as I think this is for the money, re-doing the animation with some scenes frame-by-frame redone makes the fans excited and it does take some effort to do. I do wonder how's the ending though

Well for one thing it's hard to see this is just a simple remake when they manage to get Hideaki Anno, who left the studio after dispute with making KareKano.
Another is popularity. The conterversy that populated Eva is so extreme in Japan that even IF they never watched EVA, they will automatically recognise Shinji, Asuka and Rei. Thus claims that they are milking this series is quite harsh since that they can just stick any product with the characther and it will sell like hot cakes already without they resorting to this.

Well....GAINAX has been milking EVA for years. Now is another remilking with new and redesigned mecha to push more merchandise.

I got it from Tun Jugah about RM 95 .. quite expensive.. this is Series No. 032 and I waiting for 33 (EVA00) and Extra(Weapons) to make t complete set.
