- Although credited mainly as Rei and not usually featured that much, Hayashibara Megumi also voiced Ikari Yui, Pen - Pen, and Shogoki berserk - Sadamoto Yoshiyuki was the cover designer for Eric Clapton's album Pilgrim - Rei means "void" or "null". Interestingly enough unit - 00 was called "Zerogoki" when if the naming was as unit 01 (Shogoki) and Unit 02 (Nigoki) was used, it would have been "Reigoki", thus sharing the same name as it's pilot - The names of the characthers are usually from old Japanese ships. |

Ayanami is name of WW 2 destroyer Akagi is name of main aircraft carrier Soryu, ibid Fuyutsuki is name of cruiser, Mogami class Langley is name of US carrier Some warship based names.
