for me if u moving that direction, its ok

just dun bother if u are looking at overclocking high as well as performing as fast as those PCIE and DDR2 original guys out there

RM350 , i can consider buying 4 my mom and replace my other RDRAM system...

yeah, since it has 2 ide, i can straight plug in my current 2 hdds, and able to switch to sata anytime. however, it's also possible to find a dual core amd am2 proc and mobo for around that price. my haert still kinda half half on the biostar + 3.0 combo or the amd combo. 

now i also headache on hunting 2nd c2d/p2c set the headache part is GC and Motherboard

Cause now all is using Pci 2.0 16x but many old motherboard is Pci 16x only

Although pci 2.0 16x GC is working fine on normal Pci-e 16x slot but stilll kind of worry will happen anything or not since Technology move fast hai.........

will the performance of ATI 4830 decrease a lot if i using it on PIC-E 1.0/1.1 ?
Since Ati 4830 is pci-e 2.0

i would have prefered a 3.2 prescott or something

btw, the possible mystery for my 10FPS gain in Left 4 Dead is probably coz of Windows XP SP3 and SP2

other than that all are similiar configurations =.=

and i have lower total RAM now (not that thats gonna make much difference since i dun fully use it )

As for the 10fps gained, im quite agree with what Raymond says. Since u did mentioned ur thermal paste is dried and u din apply a new one for ages for ur previous rigs. That probably the main problem of causing ur system got slow down. And also, most P4 has auto throttling features to prevent the processor got burnt and by default the feature is on. Just we dont know the throttling percentage as diff mobo has diff setting.

2nd thing, might probably is the OS. Just wander, which SP are u using for the current system? Im still in SP2 and never intend to go for SP3. So far so good for me. Am going to move into XP x64 once i got my another 2GB ram on hand.

another possible reason would be the memory controller. u r now using 2 RAM slots instead of 4 slots, that may increase the bandwidth efficiency because less burden on the controller. just a thought.

Oi brother, ur system how liao? Hahah...

thermal paste only brought it down 5-10C which i doubt was the gain in 10 FPS

ram slots, probably coz i was running weird timing and stuff and now on 2 DIMM's, everything is standard and looks proper

previously i was on SP3 with all my settings saved

i restored the exact settings on SP2 , and now plays better

weird thing is i cant find the 'overclock' ability for my CPU on the BIOS

yup i think cant OC.. cant find anythin 2 do with CPU multipliers and such

well, last time 4 DIMM slot, now 2 DIMM slot

well, possibly temperature but running CPU-Z shows my proc never actually dipped its processing , in either temperature or power

But the 5-10'c does affect the throttling levle on ur P4. Hahah.. Usually the throttling will start when the CPU temp hit 70'c or above. My previous P4P800SE, the auto throttle start when the CPU hit 60'c. 1st level is 25% throttle, 2nd level if temp hit 70'c or above 50% throttling. So.. Can u imaging the horse power cut off on a processor when it were overheat.
